His face always appears deep in thought, though he isn’t shy to flash a smile at anyone who meets his gaze. Shy carries himself with confidence even though his hood implies he is trying to hide something. His hands usually have smudges of black ink on them.

Character Concept
Shy has lived in Syliras all his life and wishes to adventure outside of the city’s border. He wants to travel the world of Mizahar and record his experiences in his journal. Despite his name, Shy is sociable and outgoing. He isn’t afraid to start a conversation with a stranger. But he is the quiet type, he says few words that tend to leave a heavy message. He doesn’t believe in small talk but can tolerate it if he must. He quite enjoys writing and reading. He writes in his journal every day, from what he did that day, to a poem he wrote or his thoughts and feelings. He enjoys all things creative. He doesn’t care much for possession. Shy is looking for people to accompany him when he goes to travel.

Character History
Shy was born in Syliras in Spring 495 with the name Shizek Costa. His birth caused the death of his mother. Shy’s mother and father were both commoners whom lived in the walls of the castle.
After his mother’s death his father fell into a deep depression that he had tried to drown with Alcohol. The older Shy grew, the more violent and abusive his father became towards him. From a young age Shy had learned to be independent. He looked after himself and even taught himself more than his father ever had. Shy’s only escape from his Father’s abuse was when he would spend hours visiting the library where he would read books. He had stumbled upon the library when he was merely ten years old. But before he could read he used to just stare at the words in the books and copied them down on a piece of paper even though he didn’t understand what all the symbols meant, in doing so he had slowly taught himself how to write. One day an intellectual man had noticed the young boy struggle to understand the symbols. He approached Shy and offered to teach him how to read, surprised he could write but not read. Shy eagerly accepted the man’s offer. In just a few weeks Shy understood the basics of reading, sadly the intellectual was a traveller and left the town of Syliras to visit another. Before he left he gave Shy a journal, Shy could never thank him enough for giving him the gift of reading. Once he could read he would go to the library each day and practise as much as he could. He was amazed by all the information the books held and by the journeys of adventurers in the fictional tales he read. He wanted to read every book he could get his hands on. Wanting to put the gifted journal to use, Shy got into a habit of writing it in everyday so he could practise, he would record each day’s events. He enjoyed every minute he read or wrote. But knew his Father would not approve so he kept it a secret.

The night before Shy’s 15th birthday his Father found his Journal and burnt it in the fireplace. Shy’s anger erupted and he belittled his drunken Father by calling him an idiot who couldn’t read or write. His Father responded by beating him senseless. Early the next morning Shy gathered a few of his belongings in a satchel as he prepared to run away from his home with his father within the castle walls. Before he left he snuck into his Father’s room and stole his Mother’s black quartz necklace which was his Father’s most prized possession and the only momentum Shy had of his Mother. Upon having ran away Shy knew he had to throw away his old identity. He gave himself a new name, he named himself Shy Muse.

Shy lived a year in the peasant area outside of the castle walls. Where he became a beggar until he learnt he could put his reading and writing skills to work as there were people who didn’t have such skills. He became a scribe. But he didn’t work just for the money, he did it for a living. No matter how good he was at what he did he didn’t over charge people for his service. In fact he undercharged them as he was still a novice and was just trying to make ends meet. He walked the streets with his hood drawn over his head where ever he went. Afraid he would one day run into his Father if he still lived. Shy would regularly sneak into the library where he would read and write in his free time. Slowly he began to grow bored of his simple life. He wanted more than the life he lived in Syliras. He wanted to travel like the adventurers in the novels he read. He wanted to experience amazing journeys and cross borders and enter city’s he had never seen with his own two eyes. He wanted to meet interesting intelligent people who could share their knowledge with him. He wanted to record such events in his journal instead of his drab boring life. Yet, he didn’t possess the necessary skills to travel on his own. He needed companions who knew their way around or who are willing to try. Till this day he is in search of people who are willing to travel with him. His dream is to see the world of Mizahar and record his life in his journal. He is building up his skills and searching for the right people to accompany him until the time comes when he can leave Syliras behind.

Character Sheet Intervention

Hello there!

I'm Crosspatch, one of the friendly CS Liaisons on Mizahar! I've been looking over your Character Sheet, and I have noticed some minor issues that need to be resolved and fixed. Sadly these need to be done before you can continue roleplaying, so let's take a look at them shall we?

  • Please link your CS to your profile. This can be done through the user control panel.
  • Syliras as a city has a strong dislike for beggars or the homeless. There is also no 'peasant area' outside of the city wall - instead it is either the Wilderness or the heavily fortified Mithryn Outpost.
  • Syliras also does not hold any formal library.
  • Your character description mentions having ink and other writing equipment, but these are not stated in your possessions or your ledger.

Once these problems have been dealt with, drop me a PM and I'll remove this intervention and approve your CS for you. Also if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask and I'll do my best to answer!
