Life in the forest was not all that Kita had hoped. It was relaxing but something didn't feel right. She was one and a half now. It was young for a human but as a kelvic that made her about sixteen years old. She really hoped that she would have had a bondmate by now. She thought that maybe Lookos was the one, the man who would finally make her life complete. He wasn't though. Obviously all she was seen as was another one of his watch dogs. She did not mind being a watch dog but she wanted to be the watchdog, not one of the watchdogs. She knew that if she ever did have a bondmate she would protect them to the death. The matter was finding one. A kelvic was not complete until they had a bondmate. That matter was the reason she fled. She could not be complete with someone who she did not feel a connection to. The man was in tune with nature, she could give him that, but he was not what she was looking for. She knew that in her position she could not afford to be picky but maybe she was crazy. She just could not settle down with someone if her heart told her it was not right.

The Stone Garden was quiet. Kita walked through the garden soaking in warm sun. She had not been in town in a while. It felt weird for her to be in her human form. She looked at her fingers and admired her nails. Much preferred her claws but if she as a fox then she would most likely get captured. It was not a normal occurrence for a fox to be walking around a town, especially Syliras. The wind whipped through her hair as she walked along the stony floor of the garden. She liked the solitude but it was really time for this long train of loneliness to end. It had been so long since she felt like she belonged anywhere. Syliras was a long way from her past home of Avanthal. No one here new her and no one here owed her anything. It stung to be alone and she felt it all throughout her being. Kelvics were not meant to live in solitude. They were meant to find someone to serve or at least live with. Kita only had herself and for that she felt despondent. She saw all the other Kelvics living happily with their bondmates. They were happy and complete. Kita wished, even if only for a second, she could know how that felt.
As you walk through death's dark veil,
The cannon's thunder can't prevail,
And those who hunt thee down will fail,
And you will be my ain true love...

Getting Away [Rhuryc]

Postby Rhuryc on August 30th, 2010, 12:57 pm

The Stone Garden was quiet. That was why Rhuryc went there. Although he enjoyed the hustle and bustle of city life, on occasion the noise proved to be far too much. After a long, arduous day at the forge, some peace was not a lot to ask. So it was that the man found himself climbing the stairs to his destination, one boot scuffling after another along the stone-driven path. The tails of a long, dark leather coat blew about his from from a soft, subtle breeze; the rest kept in place by two idle hands held within their respective pockets, linked as they were to the belt beneath. His hair followed suit. Stray strands of blond did their best to obscure his vision, half-narrowed, green eyes sunken into smooth and sharp features, the bottom of which was decorated an overgrown degree of stubble and a haphazard trimmed beard. The man held what one would expected of a vagabond, a mercenary even. There was obvious tonnage to his arms beneath his attire, strong, built muscles, and his movements bespoke of one who knew how to handle themselves, legs moving with a confident, trained stride. The sword at his waist did not hurt his image either.

Somehow the walk was longer than usual. When Rhuryc found his way into the garden he took in a long, deep draw of breath. His shoulders relaxed and he felt his spirits life; finally, alone. So rare was it that he would find another here this time of day, the chances of an encounter were slim, if not none. He bowed his head and took a few, precise steps forward, vision scattered about as he scanned the area, taking in the various memorials and gifts left by the occasional visitor. Flowers, stones, all sorts of peculiar traditions. Why, someone even left a young girl. Wait. Taken aback, Rhuryc blinked and set his vision on the form of Kita. Damn. His mood was dashed, but since he had not shown the relief upon his countenance the illusion remained in tact. Before he took to stare, the man bowed his head to the girl and offered a low pardon.

"Excuse me, I did not mean to interrupt." He said, his thick baritone searing the silence like a blade. He continued his cant though, and walked past the girl, intent to at least appear as if he had come for some other reason than the truth. His attention flicked to one of the stone walls and he pretended to examine it for particular name, or something; how strange would it be if had no reason to be there?

Getting Away [Rhuryc]

The garden was quiet and Kita enjoyed the peace. She was dressed quite cooly in a light blouse and a pair of shorts. Kita much prefered dresses but she did not want to stick out more than she already did. She had experienced her share of scares in Syliras and the last thing she wanted was attention. She recalled a Syliran knight holding a knife to her throat a while back. That was a road she never wanted to go down again. The rememberance of the event made a chill run down her spine. Humans sure were scary at times. Then as if on que a human appeared. Every muscle in Kita's body stiffened. What if the man tried to kill her like the other man did? She watched him with careful golden eyes and tried to hide how scared she was. Kita was a timid girl. Almost anything would scare her. She was much like her animal side in that way. Curious by nature but quick to get spooked and run. She stood her ground though and fought with her instinct to turn and run. She tried to look reoccupied, even deep in thought to make the man just walk past her and ignore her existance. But still the man talked to her. Her heart raced and her face flushed. She knew she was reacting quite oddly to a friendly remark but she could not help her fear. It was just engrained into her psyche.

To Kita's surprise the man did not pry for further convorsation. He just offered his appology and went on his way. She racked her brain for something to say back. Curse her for being so shy! She bit her lip and tried to come up with a response. "It's no trouble." Her shy voice wavering at times. "I'm just admiring the city's garden. It has been a while since I have been in a city. I'm more used to forest living." Her heart started to race again. "I might as well have just told him I am Kelvic with that remark!" Kita looked up to see the man walking in a different direction seeming to be trying to give her some space. Although the man scared her a bit, as must humans did, he also intreged her. She had not heard a voice as deep as his since she had been living with her brothers. Jeran always had a deep voice that matched his powerful demeanor. It was in a sense like hearing his voice again.  She felt like the brother who was more like was father to her than her own dad was in some ways with her in the garden. She wanted to hear the deep baritone again. She was indeed a fox and foxes were curious.

It took a lot of courage but she walked toward the man, slowly of course. Men in Syliras had a nasty habit of carrying swords. She was still scared but she tried to supress it. The blonde man seemed to be paying her no heed after their short exchange of words. Kita tried to think of what to say to the man. In the forest it was so easy. If an animal wanted to ineract with another they did. They just walked up sniffed the other animal or maybe bat them around a bit and then they were conversing. With humans it was much different. There were moral codes and certain phrases for certain people. It was a lot to remember for a fox. "What brings you to the Garden?" The question seemed harmless enough. She did not think it was prying although as her track record would show what she thought was acceptable and what humans though was acceptable tended to be two very different things.

The cannon's thunder can't prevail,
And those who hunt thee down will fail,
And you will be my ain true love...

Getting Away [Rhuryc]

Postby Rhuryc on August 31st, 2010, 3:31 pm

Huh? Rhuryc quirked a brow to the side. What a strange girl. His head turned and the man found himself peering down at Kita. Almost a foot of height separated the two. So contrasting were they that the young man felt a sudden urge to pinch himself, for belief that this was a dream. She was slight, almost frail in his mind, and she had a queer way about her; a peculiar manner that was reminiscent of a curious animal. Timid and frightened, was it? While she remained almost incapable of what was considered normal, Rhuryc was very much the common Sylirian. Broad, confident, and hurried, his movements were stiff and rigid, conformed to a scheduled life of civilized variety without so much as even a thought to the wilds of the world beyond. He was as the walls were to the buildings within them, a silent, steady guardian, whereas this strange girl was imbued with a touch of nature. A shifting force of which the man had never encountered anything like. It was understandable then that Rhuryc found himself in such a queer state of mind when their eyes locked, two opposing forces colliding in such a random happenstance.

Garden? Did she not know what this place was? While Rhuryc was unable to determine Kita's truer nature, he found himself privy to her foreign inclinations. No one in Syliras could mistake the memorial for a garden, and although it was referred to as such, the question of one's presence was not one any needed to ask. Was she up to something? Some mischief, perhaps. She seemed nervous, off center, somehow out of her environment; all signs of some wrong doings, but she was no nefarious being. Rhuryc did not need magic to tell that this girl held not an ounce of malevolence in her entire body. Maybe she was just socially inept. Whatever.

"It's quiet here." He said. He could not very well lie about something so simple. "And the people tend to avoid it. I figured it would be empty." An easy grin graced the man's countenance and he found himself grasping at conversation. Out of habit, one hand removed itself from a pocket and a thumb forked through his sword belt, the palm close to the hilt of his sword. The act was in no way hostile. Rhuryc felt at ease when he was 'at the ready', prepared for anything this girl might throw at him, whether it was through verbal of physical means. "Not that I mind. At all. Ah," He paused and offered Kita a shrug, still scanning for what the two had in common. Nothing really. "I'm Rhuryc."
