[Pig's Foot Tavern] Dancing in the Hail

The weather was foul. A freak and sudden hail storm was raging outside the Pig's Foot Tavern, the heavy hail driving the people of Sunberth off of the streets. Many had taken shelter in the tavern from the icy missiles, a profitable event indeed but with nothing more than drinking to do, the patrons were getting restless. A fight seemed likely to break out, despite the Pig's Foot's "safe" reputation, just so there was something to do. Somehow they had to be kept occupied.

That was where Caela came in.

She wasn't the only source of entertainment in the tavern as there were other dancers but her role was still important. They'd need to keep the customers entertained if they wanted to keep the peace. Caela liked to dance but she wasn't always pleased to be in the occupation that she was in. She didn't like men leering at her, the thoughts of using her the only thing on their minds, their lust showing clearly in their eyes. But if she didn't dance then she couldn't use them when they thought they stood a chance with her, only to learn that she couldn't care less for them. It brought money in as well but she still didn't like being looked at like that. When she danced it was like she wasn't a real person with thoughts and feelings to them anymore, she was just an object.

The young woman did her job regardless of her thoughts, coming to stand in front of a group of patrons, a band of hooded drinkers nursing dirty mugs of gods knew what. She assumed that the drinkers were men as they were the most common customers but she couldn't be sure; women also came to the Pig's Foot. They looked like shady characters though, regardless of sex, but that wasn't unusual in Sunberth. The city didn't have that many honest folk after all, most involved in thievery, prostitution, conning and the various other dishonest occupations that made the place lawless. Caela's job was probably one of the most honest in the city and that spoke volumes.

The woman sent a slow smile in their direction but there was no visible reaction that she could see. There faces were too well hidden in their hoods and no words passed between them. They looked sinister and she felt uneasy about not being able to read them but she was nothing she could do. It wasn't going to be easy to please them either considering that she couldn't see their expressions but there wasn't a thing she could do about it.

A slow beat started up, one she recognised. The music would be slow and sensual for a chime or so and then would accelerate into a quicker and livelier melody. It was Caela's cue to begin.
