A surreal cavern city inhabited by Symenestra where stones glow and streets are reams of silk. Cocoon like structures hang between stalactites and cascade over limestone flows in organic and eerie arabesques. Without a Symenestra willing to escort you, entrance is impossible.

Purge noted that the other had managed to fell a sheep. Good there would be plenty of food, for she had expended a lot of energy bringing down hers. She felt at this moment that she could eat the entire sheep. She waved her hand at the other, just resting. It really wasnt the gash in her leg that was bothering her most, though it hurt enough. It was the large area on her back that the ram had put its full force into, she imagined she might have a broken rib or two which was why flying was painful. She was a healer herself, not out of any altruistic reason but because she was intensely curious on how bodies work.

Yet she was healer enough to know she couldn't work on herself. "Yes, can get wood. Give me tick." Purge reached down to grab a handful of snow and plopped the cold mass on her bleeding leg. She hoped the coldness would forstall any swelling while she was up gathering wood. The female Zith lumbered to her feet, staggering only a little because of the sharp ache that flowed up her side but with the help of her wings flapping she stayed upright. She had to decide which would be more painful, flying with possible broken ribs or walking with the gash. Both were unpleasant, and Purge figured she would have to fly them back, for ten chimes of flight was a lot longer on foot so she oped to walk and rest her wings.

It was harder to find wood then it would have been where she grew up at, mostly because trees generally grew small and scraggly on mountains, but she shuffled her feet in the snow until she kicked a branch or a stick then she would painfully bend down to grab it. She did this over and over until her small arms were laden with scraggly branches and twigs. She moved back toward the spot where she had sat before and dumped the branches down before she sat heavily on the ground. She had never really had much use for fire, at home in Xy she would just take a torch if she needed to boil water for patients or her experiments. She hoped that the other girl could build a fire.

Sayani frowned when Purge grabbed a handful of snow and simply put it on her wound, but she stayed quiet. The snow was mostly clean, and she supposed it wouldn't be much of a problem, but she still would have preferred that the Zith had waited for the clean water. Well, it was useless to think of that now, and so, Sayani turned her attention to the sheep she had killed. Grabbing as much wool as she could, she detached it from the sheep skin using her knife, before repeating the process twice.

She then walked towards the same direction Purge had gone, and searched for wood as well, however for a larger and harder piece than the ones the Zith was looking for. Sayani took her time choosing a piece of wood suited for her needs, knowing it would take a while before Purge managed to gather enough to make a fire, due to her injured leg.

When Sayani returned to the two dead sheep, she took her knife again and used it to cut the piece in half, along the length. One half she put aside, the other she began to carve down to try to make a small bowl. It wouldn't be very deep, had to be enough. She had just began carving it when Purge came back, dropping the wood she had found on the ground, before sitting on the ground. Sayani put the piece she was carving aside.

The Symenestra shoved a little of the snow away, but as she had feared, there was too much snow covering the ground, and she doubted they could easily reach the soil. Pressing her lips together, Sayani wondered if it would be possible to lit a fire anyway. Well, they had to try.

Picking one of the sticks Purge had brought and putting it aside, Sayani began to sort the wood, trying to make a platform. She then put the other half of the wood she had found above the platform, scattering the rest of the wood on top. It wasn't a wonderful work, but it would have to suffice. She had made fire a few times before, but she was still far from expert on it, and she still wasn't sure it could work on the snow like that.

"Pick this." she took the stick she had chosen and place it vertically on top of the pile of wood, making it twist fast with both her hands. "And do this. Try to get a sparkle that can start a fire." Sayani gave the stick to Purge, before she returned to her previous task of carving a bowl inside the wood.

Purge tilted her head at the other woman thoughtfully as she watched her carve into her sheep. She didn't understand these people, they had claws on their fingers, why do they use such tools? "Why not use claws?" She asked, her curiosity not allowing her to keep quiet about it even as she takes the wood that the other gave her. It would be just a lot simpler to just eat the food raw and get back to Kalinor to tend to her wounds.

However, she admitted to herself that she might not be in the best condition to fly without at least some doctoring so she hunched over, ignoring the pain in her sides. She did as the other showed her, but the wood kept slipping and fumbling. After about the fourth time she growled a animalistic growl and succumbed to the instinct to lash out. She didn't, however, lash out at the Symenestra. Instead she swept her arm with a ferocious snarl against the pile of sticks and twigs that she had gathered, scattering them.

"This stupid." She growled but picked up the wood again, and tried once more her brows furrowing. There was a tendril of smoke but she got excited about and stopped the rubbing, and nothing happened.

"This way is quicker." Sayani answered, simply, without stopping her work. She didn't know about other Symenestra, whatever they hunted small game, carved into wood or skinned animals with their own claws, but Sayani didn't like to do it. She hated to get near the animals she would kill unless she was certain they had no way to attack her, and if she used claws to carve the wood, a splinter could get stuck underneath her nails. It wasn't something extremely problematic, but it could be easily avoided by simply using a knife.

The Zith got frustrated, hitting the pile of woods. Sayani simply kept working, knowing it was better to say nothing. The Symenestra had became just as frustrated as Purge, the first time she tried to light up a fire.

After a while, Sayani smelled the smoke that came out of the wood, and she turned to Purge. "Good. Keep doing that, don't stop, and you will lit the fire." at least, she hoped so.

It took a few more chimes, before Sayani finally finished the carving and took all the loose bits of wood out of the improvised bowl. It was crude, irregularities everywhere and the format definitely didn't resemble a bowl, but it was something, at least. The Symenestra placed a handful of snow inside it, and turned to the Zith once again, to see if she had managed to lit the fire.

Purge glared at the wood, if her eyes could conduct the heat of her annoyance the wood would have burst into flames, but she couldn't. Instead she continued to rub, to spin the wood against each other. This time when the smoke started to stream up she didn't stop, instead she remembered something she saw her sire do and bent to blow at the same time as she spun. Finally after what seemed like ages, a spark flew, and caught. At first it was just a single lick of flame, but after just a little bit of blowing on Purge's part, and a eureka moment when she reached over and snagged some of the wood shavings that had fallen to the ground from the Symenestra carving that caught fire much faster and began to feed the fire more.

"There!" She exclaimed, as the fire started to spread. She looked away, the light hurt her eyes but she appreciated the heat. Now all she needed to do was to go get her food, she felt ravenous by now. The problem was she was also dead tired, the blood loss wasn't so severe as to be life threatening she didn't think but it was enough to where she was sleepy. The exertion of the fight with the ram, then everything else just made her want to curl up to sleep. As someone who had seen this happen in the slaves she experimented on she knew that if she ate she would start to wake up again.

She had to force herself up, and staggered over to where her kill was, respectfully avoiding even walking too close to the Symenestra's kill. However she did not want to eat this over here away from the warmth of the fire so she snagged the wool and dragged it over again. Then she sat heavily. "Purge tired." She huffed, trying to inspect the wound on her thigh but the fire light was impeding with her vision and she couldn't make out much. "Light bad on eyes." She said, waving her hand toward the ragged wound that she had not helped by walking around on it tearing it a little more.

Purge managed to lit the fire, and then went to bring the sheep she had killed closer to the fire. Sayani saw that the Zith was tired even before she announced that, but she really didn't know what to do besides wait for her own food to cook, and the water to boil, so she could treat the wound before they went back to Kalinor. Now that she was seeing it up close, it looked worse, and Sayani was worried that the blood loss, even if not that big, would make the Zith drop her on the way back.

"Look away from the fire, I will look at the wound." Sayani said in response to the others complain, before approaching her and bending down. There was really a lot of blood around the wound, and the Symenestra took the improvised bowl full of snow, before placing it on top of the fire, and waited for it to melt. "We need to clean the wound, and I need to examine it closely. Can I? It will hurt." Sayani had to see if the wound had stopped bleeding, and if it needed stitches, but she didn't want to get a wound of her own, so it was better to ask first. "You can eat your sheep if you are hungry. Does it hurt anywhere else?"

Sayani then looked at her own sheep, and sighed. It would take time to dissolve the insides of her kill, and it would be problematic to bring it back all the way to Kalinor. She could let the sheep there, but that seemed like such a waste. Well, it was the only thing she could think of, unless they decided to walk back. But with Purge's injured leg, this wouldn't be a very good idea either.

The snow had melted, and although it was still cold, it was good enough. Taking the wool she had cut before, Sayani cleaned them in the water, as thoroughly as she could, before taking them off and resting them on her lap. The Symenestra then threw the dirty water away, before turning to the Zith once more, and waiting for an indication she could clean the wound without problem.

Purge watched the other warily, as well as she could watch with the firelight so close. Zith's biggest weakness, in Purge's mind were their sensitivity to light. It unnerved her a little but knew that the fire was necessary. It didn't blind her like Syna, but it did hamper, kind of like reversing the roles and having a human in a dark room with only a small window to let Leth light in. They can see things, but it is not clear.

"Yes, you look. Pain not care." Not exactly the truth but the closest to what she wanted to say with words she knew. Pain was a part of life for Purge, it happened, and she knew it would hurt so it would not surprise her into a reaction. "I eat when you eat."

Purge straightened her leg out, she didn't truly think it would need stitches but then again she hadn't sat down to examine it before they lit the fire. "Boy sheep got me from back. But I got him too. Broke rib I think. Not problem, can breath so not bad."

Sayani frowned. A broken rib? She wasn't really sure about how much pain Zith could endure, but she supposed it would be hard to fly with a broken rib, specially if Purge was carrying someone with her. Sayani didn't know how to fix a rib very well, so she supposed it was better to leave it to some doctor at the Place of Purging. For now, the Syemenstra would just focus on the leg wound.

When Purge allowed her to, Sayani bent down, looking at the leg and using one of the clean pieces of wool to clean the blood, trying not to touch the wound itself. The blood had already stopped flowing, which was a very good sign. After the Zith's leg was cleaned, Sayani pressed the wool against the wound as lightly as she could. It would hurt anyway, but she needed to take most of the superficial blood off before she could improvise a curative.

Taking the final piece of wool and a piece of the rope she had inside her pouch, she tried to put both sides of the wound together as much as she could, before pressing the wool on top and tying everything with the rope. It was a crude curative, and probably not a comfortable one, but it would help to keep the wound from opening even more and bleeding.

"Finished." she said, before straightening herself. "Doesn't need stitches, but you have to let your leg still, if you can. And change the bandage when you can, this one is not very good." Sayani frowned, looking at her sheep once again. With a sigh, she approached it, biting the sheep's belly. Sayani let her venom flow, before raising again.

"Will be a while before part of the meat is dissolved enough to eat." she informed Purge. "You heat or cook your meat if you want, and then we can go. I drag the sheep back to Kalinor. It won't be good to fly with extra weight if you broke a rib."

Purge grunted once, twice, and at one point hissed in such a way that it reminded herself of a cornered animal. However she reigned in her instincts, and simply watched the other work. She wouldn't have thought to use the wool from the sheep, granted she probably would have simply bound the wound in whatever was handy so perhaps she might have. She didn't really analyze why something works or doesn't, she just sees what does and then mimics it.

Once finished she shook her head, and reached over to drag the sheep closer to her. Her claws make quick work in tearing into the belly of the sheep, slicing up through tendon, flesh, and muscle. Red blood stained the ground but she didn't mind. Once she ate she would be gone and predators and scavengers can have the left overs. "No. You eat, then we leave. You drag, you attract... um.. big things. Eat you. Blood, smells good." She of course was trying to tell the Symenestra woman that if she tried to drag a bloody carcass to Kalinor she would probably attract attention from dangerous animals. "So we wait till eat. Eat all we can. Leave rest. Fly hurt with you but not impossible." She shrugged her shoulders. Pain was another part of living and she wouldn't be killed over a very painful flight. Though she figured that she would have to avoid flying when possible for a few days.

She didn't need to cook her food, but the other woman made her curious as to what it would taste like. She hummed a little under her breath and picked up a dripping mess of entrails, looked at it for a moment and tossed it into the fire. While she waited she pulled a strip of bloody meat off the sheep to begin chewing. She wasn't overly messy, but then again she wasn't overly neat either. "Why you dissolve. Meat good. Need eat more meat. Might be why you people .. small."

oocI'm sorry for the somewhat late answer. I had a bunch of things I needed to do, so I couldn't find time to answer the threads. Hopefully, I'll be able to post more frequently now. :)
Sayani cursed herself for not thinking about the predators. It made sense. The Winter was a time animals seemed to get more scarce, and it made her reckless. This wasn't a good thing. The Symenestra would need to work on this perception. For now, however, she just got closer to the fire, trying to draw all warmth. The night was cold, and she was used to the comfortable cave of Kalinor.

While she waited for her meal to dissolve enough so she could eat, she watched and listened to the Zith. She ate much like an predator, and Sayani wondered if Zith weren't just intelligent animals. Because Purge was certainly intelligent, even if all this intelligence seemed to be focused on only one aspect. But maybe she was having this perception because she had found the Zith while she had been hunting.

When Purge said they would fly back, though, Sayani had to keep herself from frowning. It would take a long while for them to walk back, it was true, but on the other hand, it seemed too foolish to force her ribs like that. But the Symenestra stayed in silence. It wasn't her body, and if Purge wanted to do it, then she wouldn't really complain. The less they stayed that far from Kalinor, the better.

However, the Zith's question made Sayani frown. Had she never heard about how the Symenestra ate their meals?

"We don't loose anything that is on the meat. But we must dissolve it because..." Sayani struggled a little to find the right way to explain it to the other in common. With a sigh, she tried a different approach. "You dissolve you food inside your body, we dissolve outside. But it's the same." and then, Sayani gave a smirk. And we aren't small. I'm taller than you."
