47th of Winter, 10th Bell 44th chime

Kreig was a loon, that was a certainty, he was a loon that held a crossbow in his arms. It wasn't his specialty, far from it, but he was comfortable with it. He had pulled back the string and place a bolt atop of the groove and took aim, an eye behind the iron sight. He was lying prone on his stomach, he rested the fore grip on his arm. The snowy earth beneath him felt quite cold, cold and unwelcoming. He could hear the branches moving, the chill air causing them to sway.

He didn't know what possessed him to lie there prone, he didn't know why he decided to go out into the woods. He didn't know what he was looking for behind these sights, he did this all on a whim... he just lied there for thirty chimes, as if waiting for a target to come before him. Yes, he was indeed a loon.

He was surprised at himself at how patient he was being, patience was not quite the virtue he'd associate himself with. He was a close quarters specialist, he loved the up close feel of blade against blade, fists against fist. But looking behind that iron sight, that small metal piece that was supposed to make him aiming at a target easier, he felt himself in a different world. He didn't know what to call, all he knew was that it was one of those that simply felt 'right'. He felt that whatever wandered before his eyes, whatever came before his deadly crossbow, he had the ability to take their lives... and they may be none the wiser.

It was a frightning thought, it may be quite an exaggeration but he felt like he was treading upon the domain of life and death. This was an ability to take lives purely on a whim, provided those lives don't detect you in the first place. Kreig didn't know what to call this world... all he knew it frightened him. He could just pull the trigger, fire at some random target and be done with it. But what he wanted was a valid target, he wanted something living, flesh and blood. But what target could he find on this winter day? Would there be any animal or creature awake? Would luck smile upon him and such a prey roam before him?

It seemed so, before his eyes was a creature that's beauty would be the envy of its ilk... and its meat a hearty meal for any. Before him was a doe, an adult female deer. With effort Kreig could probably carry it back into town, he could sell mody of the meat and the rest he could bring to some tavern and have them cook it for him to save some money. He dare not move as it was in his sight, it didn't seem to notice him as it grazed on some grass... Kreig was no hunter, hunting was something new to him.... as foreign as Syliras was when he first came. He didn't know if he should fire or not, did he truly need to kill it? Should he really kill simply for some selfish desire rather than a need? Would it truly be justified if he used the neat afterwords?

It was odd to have a moral crisis over this, should he truly kill the creature? Perhaps instead of selling it off and using itself, he could simply give it away to the Order? Simply killing it for training purposes.... now he was further confused. There was always a problem when it came to thinking too much, you take too long and consequently miss your chance. He didn't know how long it would take for the creature to eat, he didn't know when a predator would suddenly appear and steal his skill.

He had to make up his mind quick, do or dont? Let the creature roam free or let the pointless waiting have meaning? With that in mind...... he pressed the trigger, the bolt flew straight through the air as if guided by one of the god's hands. The head imbedded itself into the doe's neck, it let out a pained cry as it slumped to the ground.

'The deeds been done...' He thought to himself as he looked upon its corpse, he stood up and approached. The doe's dead eyes seemed to look at him as if asking 'why' but he didn't know if he had a justifiable answer. In the end whats done was done, he looked at its neck and the blood the bled into the snow. For some reason it made him feel sick, even though death was no stranger to him. It simply felt wrong... especially as different thoughts entered his mind 'Did it have family? Did it have little ones to care for?' Such thoughts only emphasised the guilt... it seemed the decision what to do with the meat had been made for him now as he lifted the carcass It was difficult, heavier than it looked it was. He carried it as if carrying a sack of potatoes... a big, bleeding sack of potatoes. He knew what needed to be done with it, he would give it to the orphanage. They would appreciate the meat more than he... He'd not have a bite of it, he deserved it none of it.

He didn't like what he did, he did if out of selfishness, that's all it was. Better to give its death meaning rather then just being killed by a loom such as he. His steps were heavy in the snow, heavier so with the burden he created for himself on his back. He knew one thing about this Spencerian, one that he would take to heart if he were ever to be asked to do something similar...'Take what you need, not what you want' He would never allow himself to forget it, like so many other thing she dis he would not let fade from memory.. He just needed to add this one to the nightmares.

....He was quite the loon indeed.

Skills :
Quick thread there Mr.Loon. I didn't award crossbow points because with 6 points in crossbow Kreig wouldn't be able to just off a deer like that, without missing even one shot. It's not possible.
