Neyasi Tillandsia

_
13 of the Day, Spring of 510 A.V.
The Bronze Woods

It was still cold.
Still very, very cold.
And Neyasi had developed a particular distaste for the cold. Sure, Winter meant shorter days and less bright light, but it also meant undeniable cold, that racked Neyasi's frail, lightweight Symenestra body like a spider's web in a storm. At this particular thought, the twenty-year-old Symenestra female drew her thin black silken cloak about herself more tightly. It did little against the cold, in truth, but she neglected to get something thicker to wear.

Neyasi threw down the flint she'd been trying to use to a light a fire, rocking back onto her haunches, and staring moodily at the pile of sticks and tinder. When she'd been traveling with Vordinan, he'd done everything, and it had seemed a lot easier to get by in the wilderness. Now it was just frustrating.

A sudden memory struck her, a tall, thin male figure hunched over a pile of sticks and tinder, not unlike her own, striking the stone with a piece of flint in just such a way that the sparks flew to the pile. As quick as it had come, it started to fade, and Neyasi hurriedly chased after it. Catching it, she dug deeper, and realized that it was not the grey-eyed, lean figure of Vordinan she was looking at, but Drovidin Tillandsia, her dear father. Then, she'd been merely eleven years old.

Neyasi let out a slight smile, one of the few that crossed her face in these times. She quickly brushed it away, and quickly took up the flint and stone once more, doing her best to mimic the fashion in which she'd once seen her father do this. To her astonishment, the sparks caught, and the pile of sticks and tinder began to smoke. And then a sharp gust of wind blew it out.

Neyasi stood up sharply, and kicked the pile of sticks, fed up with the wilderness. Then, she sat down, crossed one leg over the other, placed her elbow on her knee, and allowed her cheek to sink into her palm, letting out a gusty sigh, staring blankly at the ruined attempt at fire. Oh well. She didn't like fire, anyway. Not unless it's keeping me warm. She reminded herself.

At this, she tightened her hold on her cloak, and glanced around. The trees overhead rustled softly, but other than that, the rapidly-cooling Symenestra could not hear or see anything else. And this slightly perturbed her. After all, you never really knew what else was out there, watching you, waiting.

An Unexpected Meeting

Sei ran through the snow covered ground of the Bronze Woods. He was close by something or someone who was making fire, for he could just barely smell the smoke. He couldn't see much through the snow however, so he could only use his nose to guide him for the time being. He continued his mad sprint, but stopped briefly to catch his breath. His lungs would sting with every breath he drew, but it was all part of the package. He leaned agaist a tree for a bit and got up when he had evened out his heartbeat.

He ran forward for a bit longer until the ground sprang up to meet his face. He hit the snow hard. He sat up immediately dusting off his face. He then looked back to find he'd tripped on a pile of twigs and branches. The smell of smoke was strong, and he turned to find someone huddled in the snow with a thin cloak wrapped around them. He tried to get a better look and found it was a women. His leather equipment kept him warm, so he hastily removed his fur cloak and wrapped around her shoulders.

"Are you okay? You look cold, so I hope you don't mind using my cloak." He said loudly, trying to talk over the wind.

An Unexpected Meeting

Neyasi Tillandsia

_
Neyasi gave a start, watching the leather-clad male burst into the small clearing in which she'd been sitting, before taking a sudden felling to the ground. He was up in no time, and, Neyasi watched him in startled bewilderment as he looked around, and spotted her, looking at her, practically examining her visually.

Even more startling was the sudden weight of the heavy fur cloak around her shoulders, as the strange newcomer slipped it off with ease, and wrapped it around her. Neyasi's first instinct was to leap out of reach, instantly fearful for her fragile bones, which she had learned, over the years, did not take much banging around to shatter like glass. Her second instinct was to bury her face into the still-warm inside lining of the fur piece.

Instead, she blinked once, before reluctantly fastening her tight grip onto the edges of the fur, eying the male warily. Never before had she met someone who would immediately care for her state of being so immediately upon meeting, and this could hardly be considered much of a meeting, especially with his... Method of entry.

"Pardon my asking, but, who might you be?" She asked, both eyebrows arching, red eyes narrowed slightly, a look that required a decent amount of effort on the part of her muscles, as she waited for an adequate response.

Sei smiled but didn't know if she could see him so he smiled a bit brighter. He nodded his head at her and sat down beside the woman, rubbing his hands together he began to feel them warm up. He looked at the woman beside him, and then to the twigs and branches which had noticeable scorch marks. He sighed and realized the smoke he had smelled before was this woman's attempt at warmth. He could see her red eye's looking at him and he decided to let her do the talking.

"I'm Sei; Sei Tendo. If you couldn't tell from the bow and quiver I like hunting." He said with a slight laugh. He pulled his knees to his chest and leaned back, only to lean forward again to sneeze. He sniffled a bit and turned away to sneeze again. He then turned back to face the woman and spoke.

"Why don't we play a little? If you move around you might get warmer." He coaxed, standing slowly and extending his hand to her. He looked down at her and noticed that she had clutched his cloak tightly around her. Probably thankful for the extra warmth. He shook his head and looked at her with a cheerful smile.

An Unexpected Meeting

Neyasi watched him with an upraised eyebrow. "I'm... Neyasi." She said slowly, leaning away slightly as he sneezed. Play? He wants me to... Play? It was, by far, the oddest thing she had ever been asked of, and certainly by a random stranger. Admittedly, the fur cloak was well-appreciated, though she probably wasn't going to mention it, but Neyasi had not played since she was ten years of age.

And Sei could not have been much older -or younger- than she. This led Neyasi to wonder if he wasn't of some kind of more childish or playful race. The only thing that really came to mind was a Kelvic- And that would make sense. Kelvic kept a more animalistic style of behavior than their human looks suggested, at least when they looked like humans.

And so Neyasi came to the conclusion that she would at least humor the stranger, if only to feel as if she was not being ungrateful. "I suppose... It couldn't hurt. What did you have in mind?" She asked, taking his hand, and using the leverage to pull herself to her feet.

"Nice to meet you Neyasi." He greeted happily dispite the cold. He liked socialism, but even though he was getting little of it from her he still enjoyed the fact he'd met someone new. He could tell she was probably curious as to why a total stranger would be helping her so he decided to disclose some information. "I'm a White Tiger Kelvic in case your wondering." He said cheerfully. He had stood on his feet again, and had pulled the the longbow from his back. He laughed a bit when he noticed she had a bow. He then looked to her face and smiled. I wonder if she can help me hone my skills.. He thought, looking at her for a few moments before turning away.

"Great, then let's get to the fun! I challenge you to an archery contest!" He said proudly, pointing to her bow. He then knocked back an arrow and released it. It went a short distance before skimming a tree and falling immediately to the ground. He scratched the back of his head in embarrassment, and began to speak. "Okay so I'm not the best, but I'll improve if I challenge you."

An Unexpected Meeting

Postby Neyasi Tillandsia on February 13th, 2014, 5:19 pm

OOC :
Urgh, sorry for the oh-so late response. ;_; My muse went out the window and wouldn't come back. (And just fyi, I still need to set up the flashback where her father gives her a bow, so I can't quite start the firing of arrows just yet.)

Neyasi raised one eyebrow at the young man, mildly intrigued by the fact that he seemed extremely nonchalant about her lack of socializing. As he spoke again, she gave an inward sigh. Kelvic. Knew it. She decided. She watched him eying her, and she eyed him back, a little apprehensively.

Archery contest? She thought, blinking. She watched him fire off an arrow into the woods. "An archery contest? Intriguing," She murmured, watching the arrow fall to the forest floor. "Practice makes perfect," She spoke lightly, mildly amused. "Alright, I accept your challenge. What is the target?" She asked, shedding his fur cloak from her shoulders.

OOC :
Haha. No worries, it happens to everyone at some point. :D Besides, we all have other things besides Mizahar.

Sei played a thoughful expression at Eyasia's last comment. "I guess I probably should've thought of a target before hand, huh?" He laughed. He pondered this for a bit before looking around. These are the Bronze Woods, so if we can hunt something down.. No, I don't know if she can hunt. He shook his head, and then nodded after a bit more silence. He let off another cheerful smile and stood up. "A target? There are thousands of targets all around us! I mean the tree's of course!" He annouced.

He looked around and pointed to a thick tree, not very far away. The path to it was clear of other trees and obstacles, so it was the perfect target. "There. That thick oak tree. Before we start, how about a warm-up exercise? Just follow my lead." He said cheerfully.
