Ultimate Goal: To find true contentment.

Contentment is the state of being satisfied. For Nyxie, satisfaction is defined as the pleasure derived from the fulfillment of her desires, expectations and needs.

But the root of numerous conflicts stem from Nyxie's strongly avaricious nature. 'Avaricious' implies a pathological greediness for money or other valuables/material goods and usually suggests a concomitant miserliness (the excessive desire to save money).

Nurture has certainly driven such a temperament. Nyxie grew up in a lair of relative luxury, within a family that was supportive of her physical well-being; yet even when provided with all her basic necessities, she was never satisfied. The girl lacked a provision of "rich" familial relationships and adequate attention. None in her family had given her a sufficient amount of affection, nor were they accepting of mediocrity. Instead, she was instructed to seek contentment through material fortune, and to develop the strength to hold onto all that she obtained. Such a teaching was typical for the Svefra; but Nyxie developed the lesson into an innate desire.

Penultimate Goal: To establish a prosperous business worthy of attention and recognition from the Gods

The conflicts with this goal are many and varied, since the development of a business has obvious requirements such as resources, skills, and influence.

However, Nyxie will eventually have to realize that the more she obtains, the more she desires...

Instead of filling a vacuum, she creates one.

Constant Traits

Ambitious ( - )
Nyxie's avaricious desires translate into a steadfast determination to succeed. Thus, hard work is a value that the redhead is infused with. Believing that the goal of contentment requires a certain amount of diligence, Nyx strives to consistently put effort towards holistic development in mental, physical, social and spiritual dimensions. But such a passionate commitment to her goal tends to make her seem overbearing and materialistic. Luxury is something she grew up with, and it isn't something that Nyx is willing to give up too easily. She's a hoarder and a cheapskate. Mizas mean everything to her.

Shrewd ( + )
Without the ability to assess situations and people quickly, and being able to use this understanding to her advantage, Nyxie would never be successful at what she does. Yet this ability comes naturally to her. The young Svefra has sharp powers of judgement, and is often wily and resourceful in the way that she deals with challenging circumstances. It also makes her seem cunning and mischievous---Nyxie never passes an opportunity to pursue an interest, no matter how dubious.

Situational Traits

Sybaritic ( - )
Mizas buy pleasure. Nyxie is always seeking the secret to everlasting pleasure and contentment. Thus, she's incredibly self-indulgent, and a hedonist at her core.

Audacious ( + )
Getting what she wants requires a certain level of boldness. But Nyxie tends to be recklessly daring, for the sake of finding pleasure in novel experiences. The Svefra is of the adventurous sort, always willing to put herself in positions of risk, if only to figure out how she could profit off a situation. Such audaciousness tends to come across as an impudent lack of respect at times; yet Nyxie usually means well.

History of the Business
Nyxie's father, Gerolf Draer, set up the beginnings of the business in his youth. Initially, he managed to sail to Alvadas and set up a chocolate trade agreement with local merchants. Needing workers for the Riverwave plantation, he sometimes asked for slaves in exchange for his goods instead of mizas. Knowing that more slaves equaled more produce, the agreement worked out favourably.

THE FOLLOWING IS PURELY A WIP:

Heila is a slave who is also the only person that Nyxie had ever felt truly close to. Thus, Nyxie finds out that the perfect slaves are those that are treated kindly, but are also those that are hardworking and responsible. Such actions have to be elicited. A Master should not not obtain slaves who are defiant and lazy. Perfect slaves are provided with basic necessities, but are not given the opportunity to advance their skill above whatever is required by their master.

"In Africa, prior to the arrival of European slave traders, slavery was a normal part of life. The thing that makes it stand out from European style slavery was the fact that it was a sign of good reputation and honor if a slave owner treated his slaves with respect and kindness. The better treated your slaves, the more honorable and highly regarded you were. Manhandling a slave was considered unethical and you risked your reputation if you did not feed, clothe, and provide quality surroundings for your slaves...

It is mentioned in the Bible and some of the ancient philosophers (including Aristotle) believed that some men were born in a natural state of slavery – thereby making it moral to enslave that man (a nice way to justify it if ever there was one). Slavery in those days was often the punishment for debt – once the debt was repaid, the slave might be released."
