Nyxie's soul finds a bright drunkenness in riches and material splendour. Being so strongly avaricious is both a virtue and a vice; on the one hand, she is incredibly driven to succeed. On the other, Nyxie fails to realize that the more she obtains, the more she desires. Instead of filling a vacuum, she creates one.

Her vehement craving for wealth needs to be satiated. Nyxie will need to acquire the skills necessary to branch outside of her family in order gain valuable assets. Her plans to obtain pure contentment need to be carefully and strategically created. Where Nyxie ends up in the future will be anyone's guess...but success is guaranteed.

 

Appearance

Having spent far less time out on the waters in comparison to others of her race, the young Svefra's skin is much fairer, blessed with a pale ivory hue. But her almond-shaped eyes are of a colour no more different than that of her sea brethren. A glittery cerulean shade dances in her gaze when she's pleased, which is the way you'll find her most often.

She has a strong, aquiline nose; the only physical trait that she got from her father. He claimed that it signified the mind of a strong-willed tactician (which is not too far from the truth, when it comes to Nyxie's wits). Her full, bow-shaped lips and her medium-length, straight red hair both make Nyxie strikingly resemble her late mother.

Standing at an average height, Nyxie can easily be considered a slender, willowy figure, having done little to no work to define any muscle in her body. She often speaks in a voice that is carefully modulated to suit the situation that's she's in, ranging from boisterous & raucous to sultry & crystalline.

Laviku's Oceanus Mark

Nyxie's Oceanus mark is highly stylized. It consists of waves cresting and beginning to crash on her body. Made up of hundreds of colors of blue, green, and white, the Laviku Mark is a colorful and large gnosis, and Nyxie wears it proudly.

Unlike other marks, the Oceanus mark can migrate around Nyx's body, changing its location depending on how exposed she is. If Nyxie is found swimming or naked, the mark would be on her back. If Nyxie is travelling and clothed, the mark would be on her arm.

Staring at the waves can often result in a sort of mesmerization; touching one results in a person realizing that its almost as if the mark itself is a raised design filled with colorful swirling fluid that can be pushed around by simple finger pressure.

Being marked by Laviku, Nyxie can first and foremost spot Otani readily. Otani will recognize her and often seek her out to play and communicate. She can also drink salt water and have the mark automatically convert it to fresh water for ocean survival. She knows the direction of the sea if she is on land and how far away it is (in aprox miles). Nyxie can also immediately recognize where progression tide is, meaning if it is incoming or outgoing or in transition. Lastly, Nyc is able to control 1 individual predator her size or smaller, or control multiple small sea creatures such as schools of small fish.

Pre-Creation History :

Nyxie's father, Gerolf, is a distant cousin of Orkat Draer. Nyxie's mother, Emil, married into the Draer family when she was nineteen; she fell in love with Gerolf when they first met in Alvadas. He was on business setting up a trade agreement between Alvadas and Kenash. She agreed to elope with him against her parents' wishes, to his home on the Riverwave plantation. Emil quickly became Gerolf's trusted business partner as well, and they both travelled the Suvan Seas, raiding non-Svefran ships together. Becoming successful wasn't difficult when Gerolf had Emil's hard-working support, along with her skills in larceny. She stole goods and riches with ease; it didn't matter where it came from. If she could take it, it was hers.

Emil and Gerolf were soon joined by Gerolf's brother, Maverick, and his wife, Pearl. The four of them travelled between Kenash and Alvadas frequently and easily. Thus, it was quite the surprise when they were stopped by an unfamiliar Svefran ship one day on the seas. The drunken men from the ship came aboard, and claimed both Emil & Pearl as theirs to keep. Gerolf and Maverick put up their best fight, but it was in vain. The men kidnapped the four of them, and locked Gerolf & Maverick below deck.

Emil & Pearl both "pleaded their bellies": asking for mercy because they were pregnant. The strange men decided to wait until they gave birth, before taking them as wives. In the meantime, Gerolf & Maverick devised a plan to escape. What followed was a bloodbath, in more ways than one.

Gerolf & Maverick managed to decapitate their captors and take back command of the ship, on the night that both Pearl & Emil were in labour. It was difficult to keep the women alive with a lack expertise on board. Both husbands held their loved ones close, before they died in their arms. Nyxie and Erich were born healthy that night; a tragic and miraculous night for their fathers...

Before Emil spoke her final goodbyes, she made sure to hand Gerolf a journal in which she'd been writing in since the day they were captured. She made him promise to give it to her child when the time was right.

Nyxie should consider herself fortunate to be born into The Draer Dynasty in the city of Kenash. Having access to such a lair of luxury allowed her to grow up in a fairly cushy home. She'd never had to experience the hardships of survival, nor had she ever gone a day without being surrounded by support.

Having all the basic necessities of life, you would think that Nyxie would be satisfied with it all. She's not. Nyxie is truly an addict to the things that bring her pleasure---especially riches. She's a hedonist at her very core. There's no end to her needs; she seeks for more and more prosperity to get the ego gratification she requires in order to feel good about herself.

The problem has always been one thing. Nyxie's family is indeed supportive of her physical well being; but she has rarely ever received enough unconditional love and acceptance. Her relationship with her father has always been distant. Her mother died giving birth to her. Thus, Nyxie really didn't have a "rich", satisfying relationship with anyone at all. She grew up playing with her cousin, Erich; yet very soon, it became clear that a rivalry existed between them. Both children would strive to gain attention from their fathers by trying to be better than the other. Both fathers would try to motivate their children by encouraging the competition. Nyxie and Erich now hold a deep-seated jealousy for each other, bragging about their accomplishments whenever they have the chance. Being family, they do tolerate one another. They only play nice to keep their fathers happy.

Nyxie's family is in charge of the transport of goods---cocoa beans, chocolate, and tobacco---between Kenash and Alvadas. Thus, eighteen years of her life was spent between the two cities. During the travels, Nyxie happened to meet many different people, stealing several different things from them. She'd took part in a couple raids, and learned a bit about her family's history in marauding & thievery. Nyxie even managed to learn how to fish; a skill that she hopes will come in handy for her future career plans.

The best is yet to come.

Refusing to stay with her pod, she joined Gerolf for an adventurous life on the high seas. Headstrong and proud of it, Emil knew how make a crew listen to her wills. There were some who were wary of her persuasiveness; it seemed that her skill wasn't due to purely rhetoric...

In fact, Emil had learned the basics of Hypnotism. The Lia of her pod made all her female descendants learn the skill, in order to aid them to become better thieves. Emil's pod was famous for Larceny, and she quickly became known as one of the best. Combining her skills in hypnotism and larceny brought her husband and her crew success and fame~

Becoming a widower made Nyxie’s father become emotionally distant and an alcoholic. Unlike his brother Maverick, Gerolf didn’t handle grief very well. He takes the back seat while his brother handles most of the work to be done in the business. Preferring to steer the ship, Gerolf resorts to the tranquility of the Suvan Sea as his only true friend.

He wasn’t always like this. Nyxie’s father was a quite the raider in his youth; a life that very few Draer knew about. He did it purely for the thrill of it all. It was this particular quality that drew him to Emily, the lady of his life. Gerolf knew she was the one, when he caught her skillfully perpetrating larceny in Alvadas. It took quite a bit of charm to seduce the woman away from his brother, who was also interested in Emil at the time.

Gerolf knows that his only daughter has much of Emil’s personality in her; it is the reason he pushes her so hard to be better than his brother’s son.

Heila is a personal slave, bought by Gerolf when she was 18 in order to do the motherly duties necessary to take care of baby Nyxie and baby Erich. The woman doesn’t talk much about her history, although Nyxie has been quite curious about it. The young Svefra only knows the fact that Heila is a talented tattoo artist; the slave has frequently created designs for other Svefra for quite a bit of spending money. Heila was also the one to teach Nyxie and Erich how to fish, and how to speak common in an accent different from the one the Svefra tend to use, akin to the accent of typical humans. The slave woman tends to be quiet and conservative, doing whatever her owners require her to do.

Maverick is quite the mysterious man; no one ever really knows what he’s up to. It seems like he’s always getting into trouble, and then skillfully getting out of them. The trouble eventually leads to success in the business he runs with his brother, Gerolf. One can most likely attribute his attainment to his competence in the skills of negotiation. But perhaps there’s more…

In fact, Maverick has paired his prowess in negotiation with his novice moves in unarmed combat. With a threatening gaze and a strong, muscular build, this Svefran is a gentleman by no means. He has had more than his fair share of bloody conflicts. Some might say that he’s gotten a lot more violent since the death of his beloved wife, Pearl. He chooses to never speak about her. Instead, he converts his grief into financial success, and urges his son to do the same.

Erich has grown to become a man to fear. Learning unarmed combat from his father and gradually improving upon his skills, Erich is now a competent fighter, almost equal to that of an elite Sylirian soldier. His will to use force to resolve conflict comes from a lack of knowing any other way. Physical fighting has become his only form of expression. It is how he earns money, and how he impresses his father.

Nyxie and Erich used to be playmates before they became rivals, each one striving for attention from their emotionally distant fathers. Yet, being family, the two of them wouldn’t hesitate to help each other out in times of serious trouble.

As Nyxie's tavan, Kai has always been her favourite playmate. With a white tummy and a uniquely blunt nose, Nyx doesn't have a hard time picking him out from the rest of his brothers and sisters. She found him when she was nine years old by the Kenashern shore, travelling with his pod. They instantly connected, and he welcomed her into his family. Nyxie was thrilled to find a fun-loving friend with a personality that matched her own. Through all her days of loneliness, Kai was the one friend she could spend hours talking to. He's aggressive and enthusiastic all the time---he loves her dearly, and will do anything to protect her.
