Sei walked through the snow, watching the his breathing create small clouds. He was in the Bronze Woods, and it was still fairly early, but today he actually had a plan. He wore light, studded leather armor which was covered by his fur cloak. He had a freshly purchased shortbow in hand, with a large quiver slung across his back. At his waist he wore a single sheath which held a short sword. He drew the icy winds into his lungs and slowed to a halt. There were plenty of trees to practice on, and he was lucky it wasn't snowing.

The Kelvic took an arrow from his quiver and drew back the bowstring on his shortbow. He was used to his longbow, so the fact that he couldn't pull back very far made him nervous. What if he screwed up and ripped the bowstring? He groaned and decided to find a proper stance. He tried to stand straight and tall, and extended the bow in front of him before drawing and arrow. He position the bow were his sight was just above the arrow. He made sure to keep it nose height before begining to draw back the arrow. Relax your arms, keep a firm grip, and release the arrow. He told himself. He let the arrow fly, but jerked his hand a bit, sending the arrow directly to the right instead of zipping straight ahead.

Sei lined up his stance again, noticing his hands were shaking. He had to be nervous, which was throwing off his game. He needed to swallow his weakness and get on with it. He drew back the bowstring, his hands shaking lightly all the while. He released the arrow, and tried his best to get a firm hold over his hands as not to disturb the course of the arrow. He took a step back, looked around and drew yet another arrow. He swung around to the opposite direction and launched the arrow at a tree. Luckily, the arrow actually hit the tree, but because his inexperience it bounced right off. The Kelvic groaned and tried again. Before he released, he pulled back at the wrong angle, causing the arrow to arch upward and plummet back down.

He took in a deep breath, lifted the bow, and fired another arrow. Same result; even if it hit the tree, it simply bounced off. Sei wanted to quit, but then he'd never learn to be better. It was better to krrp trying and failing then not trying at all. He let his cloak ripple behind him. He notched back an arrow on the bowstring, and toyed with the angle until he felt it was secure. He launched the arrow, and kept his hands from moving the whole time. He pressed his lips into a scowl when the arrow bounced off, and raced over to retrieve them.

The Tiger Kelvic finished his retrieval, and took his stance again after taking quite a few steps back. He had planned this whole day out, and he was going to use it well. He had been tginking about it for a while before he actaully had time. He stayed silent for a moment, and blinked his eyes. He pulled back a arrow, launching it with all his might. There arrow hit the tree with a loud thud, and nearly squealed when it stuck in the tree.

Sei pulled back the bowstring with an arrow, but he couldn't keep his hands from shaking. He took in a large breath before releasing it and letting the arrow fly. The Kelvic kept up his stance until the arrowhead wedged itself into the trunk of the tree. He walked over to the tree, examining both arrows. One was much farther up from the other, and his second one was definitely deeper than the first. He tried pulling out the arrow, but it was wedged to deep to use his bare hands, so he moved on to the next arrow, easily pulling it from the tree trunk.

Sei added the arrow to his quiver, and moved away from the tree. He lifted the bow, but he didn't grab any arrows. He gripped the shortbow just below the joint, and lined his other arm up as if holding an arrow. He closed the eye opposite of the bow, focusing his line of vision on the tip of the joint. If I focus my vision here, I should be able to get better aim. He finally drew an actual arrow and placed it on the bowstring. He slowly pulled it back, and tried to keep his bent elbow no farther than the sole of his foot. He released the arrow seconds later, keeping his stance until a thud.

The Kelvic grinned at his improvement. The arrow wasn't were he intended, but it was close enough to make him happy. Definitely better than before at least. He sighed and went to retrieve the arrow. Thank the Gods it wasn't very deep. He pulled it out and placed on the bowstring once again. He drew the arrow back - launched it - and groaned. He missed the tree completely, and the arrow had yet to stop flying into the distance. I hope I don't lose to many arrows. He could barely use his new toy, but he would get some use out of it before it broke. He didn't have time for dillydallying, so he continued his efforts.

Sei drew an arrow yet again, and launched it with slight trouble. He liked the fact that the shortbow was light, but it had a shorter bowstring, and it was much smaller. He was having a difficult time using it. He quickly put his thoughts to the back of his mind, and noticed the arrow had already hit the ground. He went to retrieve his arrows, and walked a little farther back than before. He lifted the shortbow, and launched an arrow. The arrow flew past the trees and - incidentally - the tree. The Kelvic timed himself, counting slowly as he loaded and launched. Almost every time he got slower.

Sei growled and combed his fingers through his hair. He had better start improving, because getting slow would get him killed.

Sei angled his shortbow and launched the arrow at the tree. He gritted his teeth, angered by the fact he couldn't master his weapon. He tried again, launching another arrow with a fury. The arrow blazed through the trees, and wedged itself pretty deep into the tree trunk. He was still fairly annoyed, but it wasn't showing as much at the moment. He just needed to learn how to stay on target.

Sei slung his bow across his back and retrieved his short sword from it's sheath. He drew the out fully, twirling the hilt in his hands before finally getting a firm grip. The Kelvic lifted the sword so the hilt was pointed slightly below his hips, and had the angled the blade so the tip was lined up with his nose. Basic strategy was the best strategy in his mind. He spread his feet about a foot apart, and adjusted his grip once more. He then took the sword to the right, and swung it to the left to form a shaky wide slash.

Sei was still unskilled however, so the blade weaved slightly up and down. He narrowly avoided flinging it from his hands when he ended his slash. He switched hands and tried again. He held it slightly towards left and swung to right forming wide slash slightly straighter the last. He had a bit of difficulty sliding back into his original stance. He hadn't had enough practice to actually slip back into position easily, but he knew he'd learn over time. He then tried a spin strike.

Which failed. Horribly.

He began to spin, but lost his grip on the blade sending it sliding through the snow. He walked over to were his blade had stopped beside tree. He shook off the blade so it was free of snow, and turned to swing the sword unskillfully. This time he made sure to keep his grip firm since he was only using one hand. He made a light thrust with the sword, bringing the hilt back just inches behind his back, and shoved it forward. He with drew the blade and shifted back into his stance.

He used a mild swing, but shortened the distance. It was a bit harder since he had to stop short which his momentum from the swing playing against him. That's probably why Fallon told me not to put so much force into a swing. She said something like 'a blade is still sharp enough to cut even without brute force'. The Kelvic sighed. He tried again, but with less power behind the swing, managing to stop the blade easily.

Sei slipped back into his original stance and adjusted his hold on his short sword. It was easier to make simple swipes than complex swings at his current proficiency. Oh wait, I basically don't have a proficiency because I'm totally worthless with a sword. He made a simple thrust by using both hands to draw the blade back to his right side, and forcing it forward. So far it would take two hands to make the thrust, but he'd be working on that more often these days.

If he had analyzed the skill of his movements correctly, there was enough control, but because of that the power of the strike was lacking. The blade was also shaking slightly, but almost unvisiably. The Kelvic seemed annoyed by his lack of skill, but didn't let it bother him. He instead decided to continue his practice with more effort. He put his thoughts aside and drew the blade back beside him with both hands before shoving it forward with more force. A heavier thrust he had to admit, but nowhere near good enough in his opinion.

The Kelvic relaxed into his original position and made an open slash, slowing to a stop before the blade could slip from his hands. Sei tried this again with greater speed, but soon realized it was too much for him to handle at his current skill level. He toyed with the hilt, soon finding the grip he'd apparently been searching for before making another open slash. Slow but steady was going to be his way for a while.
