[Silverwood] Stuck Between a Chicken and a Bee

Matthew had spent some amount of time memorizing the different herbs he had seen at the Perfumery shop. He had studied each of the bottles and vials quite carefully, and then spent a considerable amount of time reciting the labels to himself. After he had managed to commit as much of this to memory as he could, he had then decided it was best to perhaps go and put his knowledge to practical use. It wasn't that far of a walk to the nearby Silverwood, and soon the young student had found himself wandering in and out of the green trees and bushes. It was an oddly quiet sort of forest, a certain peace lingering in the air. Most of Mura seemed to have this peace, which was a rather unique thing to find in modern-day Mizahar. While Matthew did not know much outside of his hometown of Zeltiva, he had read enough to be somewhat informed of the horrors that Mizahar was now made of.

None of that could be found here though, at least to the naked eye. Matthew soon decided to abandon his original purpose, at least for now. The soothing feeling that was caressing his mind made the young man simply want to sit. He gracefully folded his lanky body, defined form moving to sit underneath a nearby tree. It was only him and the wind, him and serene peace. Running a single hair through his styled locks of dark hair, he swept curly bangs from his blue eyes. Closing his eyes, he simply sat. Meditated. Soaked in the world around him and swam in his own mind. He didn't as much think of something as he thought of nothing, forcing his mind to be silent and still if just for a moment. Chimes passed without the handsome young student noticing, until suddenly something broke him from his trance.

Balk baaaaaaalk.

Matthew peeked open an eye, suddenly aware of the pressure on his shoulder. He was met with a familiar feathered creature, yellow beak and beady black eyes staring at him curiously. He had a white chicken on his shoulder. A surprisingly friendly chicken, considering the sort of chicken he was usually familiar with. The chicken craned its head at Matthew, the student not daring to move. He wasn't sure what to do. Were chickens violent?

Bzzzzzzzbzzz.

That wasn't the chicken. Matthew blinked once, then twice, then stiffened even further as a single honey bee landed on his shoulder. Craning his head back ever so slowly, Matthew peered upwards into the branches of his shelter. A hive was very visible. How had he missed that?

The chicken struck, gulping the honeybee down in one blurring movement. While Matthew was thankful for the poultry's assistance, he was now stuck with a bigger problem. Was the chicken on his shoulder more dangerous, or was the bee hive above his head? Kavala would know, he had no doubt of this. She seemed wise to these sort of things.
