While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Akiva sighed and followed him back to their little makeshift training spot. She was reluctant, that was a lot of good meat to waste, and she wasn't exactly sure what Keorvic was talking about. It seemed like this hunting trip was turning more into an archery training session.

"You're doing pretty good. I think you're actually about ready to hunt living things now. Trees are easy enough to catch, but moving things are different. Usually though, you're going to want to shoot before they start moving. After they do, it's very hard to catch them."

She searched her mind for any other advice she could give him on shooting the tree, but upon finding none she said. "We're pretty much done learning with the tree, all you need to do now is practice your aim. There's more to hunting than that though, you have to move quietly, quickly, and be aware of everything around you." She looked Keorvic over, she wasn't even sure this man could move silently. Oh well, she would do all the hunting still most likely, just like he would probably still be doing all the fishing.

"Follow me, quietly. We're going to find something," She stealthed off into the forest ahead of them, confident that Keorvic would follow. Everything was quiet around them, save for a few birds. She wasn't sure that they would find much more than this buck out here, that much luck passed up just like that was asking for a dry hunting trip.

She heard a rustle up ahead, and the snap of a twig. She moved forward to peer over a small bush that lay by a tree. On the other side was a rabbit, average sized with brown fur. She pointed to it, motioning for Keorvic to shoot it. She hoped he would be willing to kill this one at least. It was only a rabbit after all.

[Flashback] As a favor, for a favor (private, training)

Keorvic got to where he could hit the tree pretty consistently, and went to retrieve his arrows. When he returned, Akiva had obviously gotten impatient and was ready to go kill something. The reverent feeling he had felt earlier had fast slipped away. His tummy rumbled slightly as he thought about the idea of roasted something.

She seemed to less than impressed with his ability to hit a tree with an arrow, but Keorvic was proud of himself. When she finally told him that she was ready to go find something living to shoot, he was confident that he had a chance of hitting it. The Kelvic slunk off into the forest, quite and stealthy. Keorvic did his best to imitate her, and didn't do too badly. He had a little trouble keeping up and staying as quiet as Akiva was being, but he could at least keep sight of her.

She stopped suddenly, and he was able to catch up with her. He tried to follow her gaze, and after half a minute, he realized she was glaring at a large brown hare, or possibly a large brown rabbit. Keorvic wasn't very good at telling the difference. He glanced at her to see if the moment was right to strike, and then knocked and arrow. He pulled it back with all his strength and did his absolute best to follow every instruction he had been given. When he released the arrow, he managed to keep his forearm from getting whipped by the string, and the arrow flew straight and true, faster than it had ever gone before.

Miraculously, the arrow punched a clean hole right through where the small animal's ears connected to it's skull, and pinned it to the ground, instantly dead. Keorvic let out a whoop, and ran forward to collect his kill. He was amazed at how accurate his shot was, and realized that since he had pulled the string back further, the arrow flew much straighter than it had earlier. He grinned as he picked up the semi-destroyed carcass. "How was that?" he shouted back to Akiva, muscles tingling with excitement. at the thought of his muscles, he realized that they were also very sore from using the bow. His happiness was tempered with the realization that he would be very sore tonight and probably the next morning. He shrugged to himself; whatever happened would happen. He was just happy that he had successfully killed something on this hunt. Maybe he and Akiva could celebrate with something special tonight...

Akiva was surprised that he had hit it, and even in the head. It hadn't been a very long shot, they were actually standing very near the rabbit, but it was still good for a beginner. She smiled. "Very good, now you have a nice rabbit to have for dinner tonight, I think we're done for now, you look pretty tired. Maybe you can come along more often," she said, not meaning it. She loved Keorvic, but he just wasn't stealthy enough to hunt with her. And he was too big.

"I'll be fine having something else tonight, lets head back," she said, already turning toward camp. "Just keep practicing with your bow until you get really good," she said. She wasn't the best of archers either, as she had only learned how to shoot a bow very recently, and she wasn't the best of teachers either, but he had done fine today, even if he was a large, overly-clad man with no ability to move stealthily.

She giggled, it had been a silly idea to bring this man along, but she had had fun, even if they only got to kill one thing. She wondered if she could come back later and catch the buck. She knew she couldn't carry it by herself, but maybe she could convince Keorvic to be okay with it. It would provide for many nights of dinner and a trio of well-fed travellers.
