Who says that being on guard means you can't have a nice chat?

Known as the Celestial Seat, Nyka is a religious city in Northern Sylira. Ruled by four demigods and traversed by a large crevice, the monk-city is both mystical and dangerous. [Lore]

Off-Duty Amusement?

Sekai glanced around, before turning her gaze for the umpteenth time on the caravan. She had found out that there was a caravan that was leaving Nyka soon, so she had come to investigate. From what she found out, mostly by just wandering by and overhearing coincidentally, the caravan was departing for Syliras. If she remembered correctly, Syliras was also within the Sylira region, and was the epitome of the lack of crime, due to all the armoured knights that patrolled. Also, that city was less hostile to foreigners, so it was a definite choice.

The problem was, Sekai did not know how to join the group traveling with the caravan, as her tendency to avoid strangers was now a habit. However, it seemed her luck turned for the better, as one of the people beside the caravan noticed her furtive glances. Or perhaps it was a turn for the worse, as the man waved her over.

As she walked closer, and stopped at the farthest distance one could be, while holding a conversation without the need to raise one's voice, she noted that many of the people nearby wielded weapons of some kind. If not, they probably fought with their bare hands. Scary..., was the thought that coursed through her mind, before being interrupted by the man that had waved her over.

"Well Missy? You seem to have your attention over here quite a bit! If your not here to buy or sell something, you must be here to guard the caravan on its journey!", were the words that came forth, almost akin to a sales pitch, leaving nearly no room for negotiations. Sekai only broke eye contact, staring at the ground, while quietly responding, "I-it isn't what it seems...".

Unfortunately, the man did not seem to want to take no for an answer, as he kept on asking, putting Sekai in quite the predicament, until she finally relented and nodded in affirmation. With that, it seemed the man was satisfied, and had moved on to another area, presumably conversing with others, 'inviting' them to guard the caravan as well. Strength in numbers was quite evidently at work here.

Now left alone, Sekai sighed in relief. She was half worried that if she had continued to refuse, she would've gotten herself in quite a situation, one that might draw a lot of unnecessary attention. Although, a small part of her knew that she couldn't let this chance go, the chance to escape this city, and in safety as well.
