[Scholar's Forum] After Class

Gian's arms tingled as he walked through the university, an odd feeling. He was a Svefra--he was used to working on a ship, used to working and exercising his arms. He liked to write, for himself--and yet his hand shot through with cramps and aches. It was an odd feeling.

He didn't like it.

The books were the problem, he knew. Book sna paper and writing implements and a map and a schedule--all of it piled, haphazard, clutched to his chest like a treasure. For, no matter how it may hurt him (in the most literal sense, he knew, having dropped the treacherous bundle on his foot earlier)--no matter what, they were worth it. The books, the notes (his handwriting more scribbled than he was used to, trying to keep up with all said in class), all of it. The knowledge.

The University had a feel to it, he thought. Importance--imagined or real--seeped from the walls into the people, through the conversations, the books. It was sometimes too mch for him to be in the center of it, and the Ethaefal felt the strain as he walked, leaving the confined corridors behind him. His feet let him outside, to a grass-and-granite oddity. A confused moment stopped the student in his tracks before a smile. The Scholar's forum! That was what this place was.

Gian found a relatively flat rock and (with almost embarrassing relief) deposited his sundry items and, after a moment's contemplation, himself. Sprawled on the ground, he felt a sense of relief. His courses were interesting but at times overwhelming. Frowning, he realized how little he had practiced his Auristics since enrolling. Practical usage was not what he would learn this season.

His form quieted and stirred at once, sitting up straighter with careful stillness. The young man's sharp blue eyes were closed, breathing steady. To tell anything about any aura, he needed to be almost meditating. Concentrating.

Any nearby might have seen the man's face shift ito a puzzled frown as an unexpected aura caught his attention, something that was clearly not a small creature. Was there someone nearby?
