Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

The Casinor glided easily through the waters of Riverfall's Plunge Pool Bay, the waves lapping gently against the sides of the Marlin's Arrow. Wayne stood on the deck of the ship holding onto the wheel, guiding the ship gently through the bay towards the the Docks. The Casinor's sail was taught in the wind, catching the breeze perfectly to maintain a gentle speed. The sun beat heavily on the deck of the ship but the winds and spray of the ocean kept Wayne relatively cool as he closed in on the docks.
Wayne's blue eyes scanned the Riverfall port for a place to dock, finding one rather quickly to his luck, before gently guiding the Casinor into a place along side the wooden docks. The Docks had people moving up and down it going on and off ships. The Svefra then moved to the side of his ship and tied it to the cleat securely before stepping onto the dock and glancing around.
Wayne was nervous, he had not been to this city in a long while nor had he ever been here alone. He remembered that there was a small fee for Docking in Riverfall but for the life of him he couldn't remember what it was. Shrugging he headed towards the Portmaster, Wayne assumed that the cost couldn't be unreasonable and he had some spare gold.

The man with the blue eyes heard the noises as the ship entered the dockway. He lay motionless, his dark red hair swaying in time with the boats momentum. He lay there, waking up, allowing his eyes to adjust to the darkness of the ship's hold where his hammock was slung. He took a deep breath, rubbing his face with both hands and running them through his hair briefly before sitting up.

Drefan stretched, his muscular frame rippling in the slight summer sun streaming in through the hold's single window, casting a golden ray of light over the wooden planking. He reached for his scarf, swiftly wrapping it around his head and neck, swathing it in the orange and blue pattern as he always had. With a great sigh, he reached for the article of clothing slung over the peg next to his bedplace, and carefully and gently slung his dark blue cloak over his shoulders. The eagle feathers on the edges of the cloak tickled his bare upper arms comfortably as he walked to the ladder, spryly scampering upwards onto the deck.

He was instantly surrounded by a cacaphony of noises, the pod of Svefra all tying up their ships at the docks. Drefan took a step forwards, giving a token nod to his shipmaster, Wayne, as he headed towards the land. The Inarta shook his head slightly, searching the crowds for anyone else with red hair. None that he could see..

"Looks like we're alone again, Vashi." He whispered, tracing a pattern along the edge of his cloak with a finger, as he headed off of the boat, his hunting gaze intent upon locating an inn, or a bar, or somesuch place where he could find refreshment after his passage

Docking Up in Riverfall

Cal frequented the docks for a variety of reasons.
First of all, he loved the sea. It was only natural, being an Akvatari, that he love both the sea and sky. Both were easily visible from the docks which gave Calters a faint sense of home.

Another reason was the taverns. Calters loved the taverns near the docks because they always served the best and strongest beer for the burly sailors and thick-skinned Svefra.

But today's visit was for a different reason altogether. Today, Cal was feeling neither at home, nor in the mood for drinking. He felt grumpy and depressed. As good as he had gotten at drowning out the negative thoughts, they wouldn't leave him alone recently. Cal shook his head dizzily, but still the thoughts pestered him.

Freak! You don't belong here. Do you see any other Akvatari? Do you know why they're all gone? Because they aren't wanted here! So why are you here? Maybe you should just go jump off that dock, right in front of the boat. Would anyone rescue you? Would anyone care enough to even notice?

Angry at his own brain, Cal pounded a tight fist against his skull. Shut up! Calters wove his way through the crowds, searching for something- anything that would distract him as he so desperately needed.

And then he saw it. A new ship was pulling into the docks, no doubt bringing new drinking buddies. Calters took to the air without hesitation and wove his way forward, trying to see where the crew had gone. All that he could find, however, was a single middle-aged man speaking with the porter. Cal squinted as he watched the captain go but he didn't appear to have anyone following him at all. How strange, Cal thought.

Without wasting another tick, Calters flew down to where the man was standing. He landed just beside the man and spoke without waiting for him to acknowledge the Akvatari's presence.
"Where's the rest of your crew?"

Wayne looked up, and found his blue eyes meet a man with brilliant butterfly wings. The Svefra hadn't spoken to a soul besides Drefan for a few weeks and was happy to hear another voice. As he took in the young Akvatari's handsome face and then smiled at his silly question.
"My ship doesn't require a crew, just Me, Myself, and I." His smile didn't fade as he continued "Although i do have a lazy passenger if you count Drefan." Wayne's voice carried his mirth fairly well as he spoke.
"Why does my crew concern you Akvatari?"

Docking Up in Riverfall

Postby Koyu on July 3rd, 2014, 2:32 am

Koyu had awoken from his restful sleep by his dog, Silver. Koyu felt the slobber of his dog's mouth as he licked him. "Gah, Silver stop it boy!" He laughed a bit, pulling his dog off of him and putting him on the floor.

Koyu pulled his forearm to his forehead and wiped the sweat off. It seemed to the human that the day was going to be torrid. As he sat up from his bed, the human noticed that his room was being flooded by the golden light from the morning Sun.

He figured that he shouldn't laze around the whole day, so he got ready to walk around Riverfall. After getting ready, he called for his canine friend and headed outside. When he got outside, he was greeted by an assortment of chatter by the city folk. He scanned the area, trying to find what he could do to make use of the great day.

While looking around, his eyes stopped at the docks.

Hm, I wonder if there's any work to be done down by the docks..

After the thought, he motioned his dog with his hand to follow him and began to walk towards the docks. The human scratched the back of his neck as he walked, sweat was dripping from his hair and the sunlight was pouring down upon him.

He saw the huge assortment of ships and boats ahead of him. From that distance, he couldn't make out any faces, but he noticed a familiar boat, the Marlin's Arrow.

I remember that boat, they used to hire me about five years ago. I wonder if they're doing well.

The human began to make his way towards the boat, walking on the docks. He stopped and saw the Captain of the boat, Wayne, heading toward the Port master. He then looked over and noticed that his crew mate, Drefan was also on the dock. "Hey, Drefan!"

Drefan tilted his head, hearing his name through the cacophony, and searched for the one who said his name. His sword harness on his back made a clinking noise as he turned, knocking against his leather chest piece as he turned to face him. As his eyes locked on the man with his dog, a rare smile crossed his face as he gave him a nod of acknowledgement.

"Good to see you're still in one piece." He growled with a chuckle, a glint in his eye as he held out his hand. "I could have sworn that shark ate most of you." He chuckled, a bit of amusement softening his usually terse features. With a swift movement, he knelt down, scratching behind the dog's ear with a smirk.

"Glad to see Silver is still here, too."

Koyu watched the man bend down and pet Silver. He laughed a little, and began scratching his cheek. "Yeah man, still here and still alive. Silver's been doing well too, I've been thinking of bringing Silver with me to hunt sometime."

He looked around the dock, not recognizing any other boat besides the Marlin's Arrow. He noticed that it looked a bit different than from the last time he saw it.

Huh, I don't remember that huge scratch in the front of the boat.. Well, it has been quite a few years since the last time they hired me. I remember last time we almost had a run-in with a few thugs. I wonder how Wayne's been since that time.. Probably the same, I mean he is a simple man. All he really does is fish.

He laughed a bit to himself, and reminisced on the last time all three of them met. After a few moments of thought, he looked back at Drefan and Silver. He extended his hand and shook Drefan's hand. "I'm glad to see you're doing fine for yourself. You guys need any work done by any chance?" He chuckled, running his fingers through his hair.

Drefan sighed, shrugging. "I'm not sure myself." He glanced back towards Wayne. "He seems to be making arrangements with the docks, and I'm just the muscle that he keeps around to hit things." He chuckled darkly. "Perhaps we should go for a drink, no?"

HE stretched, allowing himself to adjust the Talon Sword on his back. "I'm unfamliar with this city. Perhaps you should lead the way?"

Calters instinctively reared his head back at the man's cheerful words. He knows of the Akvatari? What a traveler he must be! Reinstating his composure, Cal answered the man's question sharply.

"I was only looking for a man who could hold his ale and I assumed that a sea-fairer would appreciate the invitation. If I was mistaken," Here, Calters shrugged, "Then never mind I suppose. Carry on. It's not as if a lowly musician such as myself would know anything about the best taverns Riverfall has to offer."

Calters flicked his wings in agitation and levitated just a bit farther off the ground. Why does this man seem so cheerful when he has just surely spent days out on the open sea? And who does he think he is, running a ship by himself?

The Svefra man looked slightly taken aback by the beautiful man in front of him, and his smile faltered for a moment.
"I did not mean to offend you, and to be quite honest i would love a drink." Wayne was not great at expressing himself but he struggled to convey his gratitude to the man in front of him. "That is, if you are willing to show me to the tavern." His smile once again reared itself upon his face as he spoke.
Outstretching his hand in friendship Wayne introduced himself happily. "I am Wayne WaveArrow, it is good to meet you" His blue eyes had a twinkle of happiness in them showing his sincerity.
