Ssafiracitlali

Physical.

Citlali is massive in all forms she can take. Her colours are sombre and slightly patterned, but primarily she wears the tones of wet earth, as if she were made of mud. In the dark waters of the Basin and the soily underbrush of the jungle, she could arguably mask her presence. Citlali is not above rolling around within the mud and caking herself with it and leaves in order to camouflage.

As a serpent, Citlali is just under forty-five feet long and absolutely smothering when she ambushes her prey in her preferred method: by dropping down on them from above and embracing them in her coils.

As the human-serpent form a Dhani takes their name from, Citlali is sinuously muscled and imposing, stretching at a considerable length of twenty-two feet. She is less likely to take this form while in hunting due to the heavier build of it, but she carries herself well in it regardless. The parts of her that could be considered human bear lighter colouring than the serpentine length and head, a pale comparison to the majesty of her true human form.

Finally, Citlali's human form is no less small compared to the human shapes of her siblings. She is tall, just under the peak Dhani height, and possesses those same sinuous muscles that give her such dominating weight as a Dhani. She is no thin creature but due to not excelling in the building of her muscle, she is not the largest Dhani despite being one of the tallest.

Similarities between all forms are her colours; her hair is brown and black while her scales possess the same colours in excess. Her eyes are a vivid green that seem to change between shades but they typically settle upon moss tones.

While Citlali bears few marks of notice upon her body but for a few faint scars, there is a very stark, raised branding upon the slope of her left shoulder. This mark is in the form of a stylised... beast of some sort and those who gaze upon it are struck with unease and discomfort enough to turn them away.

Concept.

In the Dhani's matriarchal society, Citlali is generally uninterested in forming the relationships her sisters pursue. This is not to say that she chooses to be solitary but that she prefers a mate who can hold their own against her, and so at her age, she has had few mates and no hatchlings of her own to temper her.

She is a patient hunter and a quiet nestmate, cunning in her silence and brutal when she must act out in rage. Often, Citlali will do little more than observe when among the others of her nest. Even out while hunting or scouting she might prefer to let Myrian prey pass unheeded so she can observe them in their natural territory, fascinated by humanity and the functions of their own hierarchy. Of course, she would not hold back if confronted with a Myrian, and if she were hungry enough she would certainly not stop herself from enjoying a meal.

In terms of religion, Citlali is fiercely devoted to Siku with a slight emphasis on Caiyha. Additionally, she is as strongly devoted to the goddess Ssena as she is to Siku, titling her as Queen of Fear. Almost as an afterthought, she is wordlessly reverent of Akajia. Those others she does know, including Myri, are regarded with distaste but not outright loathing. The Gods are not her quarry; she prefers the food of the physical world to the deities the prey revere.

Citlali enjoys a peaceful relationship with her family, considered a silent guardian of their little cluster of serpent and hatchlings. She has watched over her nieces and nephews and therefore is not completely lacking a maternal instinct, although she certainly prefers to deal with younglings as they possess a level of intellect she can communicate with.

Citlali is fond of natural snakes and tends to let them inhabit her private nest.

KRIVAS*;

First mark earned on the 21st of Spring, 514 AV.

Those initially marked by Ssena and thus possessing the first level of Krivas experience a great blessing, the removal of fear. While they still recognize the dangers and threats that fear would normally cause them to avoid, they no longer react to those dangers with fear. No longer will the marked feel nervous, hesitant or afraid to do things in life that before would cause them pause. The barriers that fear created in their lives are destroyed and their maximum potential is realized. This is even apparent to others they meet in the form of the marked exuding an aura of extreme confidence. The marked, without trying, comes off as being very confident to those around them. This confidence and lack of fear becomes such an ingrained part of the marked that their senses become heightened to the fear of others. By looking at a person, the marked can see the person's fear; they can smell fear in the air and feel it upon another's flesh. In addition, the marked can identify the greatest fear of a single person at any one time while in their immediate presence.

The History :
21st of Spring, 514 AV.

The welp is lost.

From her perch upon the bough of a tall tree, the massive serpent watched the ground below her as one of the savages carved his way noisily deeper into the jungle. He was young, the human shape he wore shapeless and as of yet lacking the muscled definition of a soldier. To her, he was warmth and life, a struggle to survive when the world didn't want him to continue his existence.

Citlali imagined she could taste his fear as he passed beneath her for the third time, grunting and cursing his exasperation in that guttural cadence the savages used. She didn't understand him. It didn't matter. He was making enough noise as he trampled through the forest that she could figure out what he was saying.

The snake shifted in her stagnant state, causing the branch she was on to groan in complaint as her mass adjusted. Her tongue flicked the air, tasting the pungent musk of sweat and exhaustion. A question plagued her mind as she began to lower herself to a thicker branch capable of bearing her weight, bones shifting and extending as one form melded into another and scaled arms clung to the trunk of the tree. Water from above dripped down, splashing her in her eye, and again her tongue emerged to taste the air. He was still there.

Her descent was not quiet; Citlali was a large serpent, a large Dhani, and a large woman, and unpracticed in stealth. He, however, was louder, but she still paused when the branch she'd rested upon creaked a threat to break. His thrashing stopped and he looked around, wordlessly telling her that he'd detected her that time, but he didn't look up. Frankly, Citlali was surprised with her luck. She'd encountered what had to be the stupidest savage to ever walk the jungle, and he was all hers to play with.

The question returned, unbidden, as she continued to lower. Why was he here? What was a savage doing out in this jungle alone? If she had to judge, he seemed like he was angry, lost, and more than tormented. She did not know his story, though, and if offered the chance, she would not ask it of him. He was not a Myrian. No Myrian would be as stupid to walk unaided in the jungle as he was. If she had to suspect anything, it was that he came from the recent growing colony of humans to the east; a troubling aspect though it was, she did not ponder what his presence might mean to her but for what she might gain from him.

Insight.

Without warning, she dropped once more. Close enough to the ground, her hands braced her body so she simply jostled painfully before her coils slammed into the ground behind her. The man. That cowardly human with his flimsy blade, wavered for a moment before a shout erupted from his mouth. Her jaws opened wide, fangs on prominent display, and she hissed her pleasure.

His response was so satisfying. Another shout, the stench of fear rolling from him in pungent waves that must have meant he'd wet himself, and he lunged forward as if to stab her. He made his mark, but the shaking of his hand had his blade pierce the muscle beneath her stomach. Painful. Shallow. He bolted.

If the snake had a mouth, she'd have grinned. Humanity, it thrilled her. It fed her desire to experience it, fanned the flames of passion and hunger until her jaws were slavering for his flesh. She needed the meat to taste succulent before she took of it.

Her wound ached and bled as she began her pursuit. Hot droplets slid off her scales, staining her belly. Perhaps it had been deeper than she'd expected, which told her she'd need to have it looked over when she returned.

In her pained musings, she'd not paid attention to her quarry. He was ahead of her still, tearing through foliage that had not yet been cleared through by crusading Myrians with curses and shrill cries in his strange language. She could sense her nest, the growing presence creeping upon the far reaches of her mind that betrayed their proximity to the Kandukta and she wisely dropped back. Her prey was afraid.

Her tongue lashed the air, tasting for them. This close to the basin, they were bound to be- yes. Myrians. Sweaty bodies. Pungent feline odour. Faint, but present. The Dhani acted swiftly, pulling herself onto the trunk of the nearest tree and beginning to wind a path along its surface, digging in her fingers to aid in her scaling and leaving more trails of blood that simply ran down the bark as humidity condensed the droplets. She barely made it and was sure, so sure, that one of the Myrians spotted the end of her tail before he barrelled past on the back of his tiger.

There was a shrill scream again, and gibberish, before a sharp wail pierced the air. From her vantage point about halfway up the tree on a branch laden with wide leaves, she could not see him. She could imagine it, though. He was not as afraid in the face of human-like enemies, although she imagined the monstrous cats were the epitome of awe-inspiring and death.

The roar came.

The jungle went quiet.

Bells passed as she waited for a sign that the coast was clear, the Dhani drifting between waking and sleeping as she soaked in the heat, patience personified in how willing she was to wait.

When she woke the final time, it was at the sound of a low snarl as a cat, a massive tiger, prowled towards her from an adjacent branch. Midnight black with the strangest eyes, these beast petrified Citlali to her spot. It must have woken her, her mind reasoned, as she watched it. Ready to drop if it lunged, holding her breath as if that would help it pass; Citlali had not known true terror until this moment, for this cat was everything that she feared. It symbolised everything.

And then, it was not a cat, but it was a pale woman with that same unsettling aura that suggested monstrosity was imminent, but held at bay so words might be shared.

She smiled. Her teeth were as if a cat's. Something crawled over her bare flesh and disappeared into her hair. And, she had wings, not unlike the wings of the bats which made little more than a mouthful. She was terrible to behold, yet Citlali could not look away; the woman was beautiful in the way that the man's fear had been. Raw and dangerous, this was not something to be tested.

"You can do with improvement, but I do know something promising when I see it, even if it is a scaly beast," her voice pierced the silence that swallowed the area upon her appearance. It was like... there were no words, but it struck a primal chord within Citlali. Her head tilted, lowered in difference. That vicious smile returned to the woman's face. "Improve and remember my name: Ssena."

She motioned and was, quite suddenly, at Citlali's side. The Dhani remained motionless, pride and curiosity smothered beneath what this woman creature instilled upon her, and felt the touch of the woman's hand. It made her scales itch briefly before it was suddenly gone. That fear had been swallowed, but its memory lingered and held her tongue.

Like cold rain, a new sensation spread through her from the point where she was touched. The Dhani shivered. The woman laughed. She was gone in the next moment, and so was that heavy presence. No frightening cat. No winged woman.

It was only as Citlali was returning home empty-handed that she realised what must have happened. A goddess had marked her. Not Siku, as she would have loved to meet. Not Caiyha. It had been Ssena.

Only one title occurred to Citlali after the encounter, which she kept a closely guarded secret despite the mark upon her skin. Ssena: the Queen of Fear.

A more than exciting future awaited Citlali, and she looked forward to how this mark benefitted her endeavors.

When she settled down to sleep, it was as she smiled. Her dreams were of Myrians, lunging to their deaths to escape her embrace, and she was satisfied with the expression of human panic.

Housing
Citlali, having chosen to not dwell within the stuffy labyrinth of Zinrah until she mates and begins to lay a clutch of eggs, has taken to a spot nearby and aboveground at the northernmost tip of the Kandukta Basin. Furnished sparsely to avoid detection by Myrians and savages alike, it is a small bastion against the world that the Dhani uses when she wishes safety and rest.

Despite living beyond Zinrah's tunnels, Citlali wholly considers herself a subject of Tanabis and is loathe to stray from Zinrah for too long, as she is a hunter for her brethren and feels great love for her own sisters.

In the year of 515, Citlali left Zinrah under confidential circumstances and travelled to Syliras. There, she currently lives in the standard apartment in traveler's row for 4.5 gm a season, and she pays a common living expense due to Syliras being a pretty great city.

Employment
To feed the nest, hunters are necessary. Citlali is a hunter.
