The Twisted Vine Aeries

Postby Drusilla on August 10th, 2014, 9:26 pm

If one walks long enough up the mountain to the Aeries, they'd come across a many doors. One door in particular decorated with a barren wreath-like decoration made of a single vine intertwining with itself many times over. This is the door to Turrin(Aponivi)'s Aeries.

A plain hollow shell of a living space until Fall 514, when decorations seemed to appear and a major clean up began via a pesky little spider named Drusilla. Bound by a blood oath with Turrin so that neither would ever be alone, she has taken to being his 'sister'. She too resides inside the Aeries bringing along her race's decorative ideas.

The Main Room

Entering the rectangular comon room, one would see a fireplace carved almost into the wall. Only lit in the coldest of winter to restore feeling to toes and feet. However if one is truely frozen to the bone, cushions lay nearby for one to sit on near the fire and warm up.

Past the fireplace are various sitting places and small tables covered in anything from fruit bowls to glass objects to candle holders. The walls are covered in colorful fabric and tapestries, and the floor is covered in rugs of matching color and style to what hangs on the walls. This is no doubt Drusilla's doing. The overall feel of the common room is a cozy warm feeling, that just makes one feel at home almost instantly. The only large furniture is a dining table with six chairs, dinner is eaten here when Drusilla gets the notion of cooking. There is a bookshelf here and there along with a spinning wheel in the corner of the room. Shelves are also present for Turrin to display his favored weapons and items from the Twisted Vine clan. Different colored and patterned rugs lead to each of the five doors of the Aeries.

The Master Bedroom

The master bedroom AKA Turrin's room is the Endal's own little world. Dark crimson fabric covers the bed and side tables draping off onto the floor mixing with the dark rugs. A quilted blanket covers the bed as well. The room gives off a slight masculine feel or Drusilla tried to give it that feel with metal accents. Shelves show off the Endal's prized pelts from hunting trips and blown glass trinkets. Metal candle holders are the main source of light along with an overhead window fixed with glass. As with the main room tapestries cover the walls.Once in a while Drusilla brings flowers in or incense to cheer up the room. Other than that Drusilla stays out of Turrin's room viewing it as his private space and respects that, although if Turrin calls her in she happily goes into his room.

Drusilla's Room

Drusilla's room is also clothed in red cloth only in a lighter shade. Despite the fact that Drusilla's room is fully furnished with a lovely bed, she sometimes sleeps in the nook in the wall. A habit carried over from living in Kalinor. Drusilla's room is filled with her sewing supplies and fabric. While it has no windows, Drusilla finds her room just perfect with a simple overhead light and a candle in one of the nooks in the wall. She purposely decorated her own room less lavishly than Turrin's feeling as he is the Endal of this Aeries and she is just an extended guest of sorts.

Kaya and Turrin's Mother's Room

Image

This room is always dimly lit and smells of herbs and incense. The room has no beds or any real furniture besides a small sitting area. Visitors are normally allowed in this special room. But what makes this room so private and solemn or why is it referred to as Kaya's room or Mother's room if no one lives there?

This room contains the skulls of both Turrin's sister Kaya and their mother. It's a room for prayer and grieving. Turrin and Drusilla sit in this room to spend time with the two women as they feel that their spirits are there. The skulls are kept in a well made box with see through sides atop an alter. The skulls never leave this room.

The Baths

Image

The baths here are more than just a way to get clean while avoiding other people, it's a social place within the Aeries where both residents can relax and unwind after their taxing days. Drusilla oversees that everything is stocked for the baths and every so often will light candles or incense just as an added treat. She also stocks light wines and brings in fresh bowls of fruit. Visitors often find themselves in or around the baths wine in hand or nibbling on a piece of fruit.

Aponivi's Perch

The last room of the Aeries leads to Aponivi's living space. While most of the floor is uneven so Aponivi can grip it better, there is a small portion where a person or two can sit with the eagle. Beautiful glass decorations line the walls and hang from the ceiling holding candles. Along a separate wall hangs a large mirror, Aponivi enjoys looking at to admire himself no doubt.
