Botaran

Appearance

Race: Isurian
Gender: Male
Age: 41
Birthday: 26, Winter, 472.
Birthplace: Sultros

Appearance: Botaran has all the markings of an Isurian, pale blue skin, stone coloured arm with the mark of Izurdin at the shoulder. He stands at 5" and weighs 240 pounds. His hair is a deep, dark red, but the only to clue to that is his eyebrows as he keeps himself bald and well shaved. In combination with his angled eyebrows and permanent tight lipped frown, Botaran has the look of calculation and annoyance. In just about any season other than winter, Botaran is found without a shirt or boots, as he is uncomfortable in warmer weather and prefers to not be drenched in sweat all the time. His voice is a low, deep bass, making him hard to ignore, even in loud, crowded areas.

Character Concept

Personality: Botaran will treat anyone as an equal despite age, gender, race, or social standing. He will treat all people with the same friendliness and honesty until they prove they should be treated differently. Honesty and strength of character are the most important things to him, and liars and thieves will instantly be put on his blacklist. Robbery and deceit is seen as weakness by Botaran, and weakness in any form infuriates him. If Botaran gets to be good enough friends with someone, he may tell them of his travels, let them call him “Bo”, or present them with gifts. Botaran doesn't care about what people have done, but one of the things he loves most is listening to stories, and reading history books, even though he prefers to focus on the present the past is always worth learning from in his eyes. What Botaran loves most in the world is maps. Sometimes he spends entire days pouring over maps.

Ethics: Botaran believes all things must be earned, and all punishments are deserved, one way or another. Any obstacle or challenge can be overcome through sheer force of will and brute strength. Complaints are for the weak and any complaints fall on deaf ears around Botaran.

Likes: Maps, cold weather, forests, honest to goodness bar brawls, straight forward fights, history books, good stories.

Dislikes: Liars, thieves, people who think their past achievements mean they get respect, horses, deep water.

Character History

Botaran was originally named “Botaran Bindweave Vizerian” but after leaving Sultros and his family he goes only by Botaran. Bo was not a problem child, he never fought with his parents, he ever broke the law, or caused trouble. He took up forging just like all the other children, his father taught him about Izurdin, and in these teaching session he learned that he didn't like any of it.
There were times when he would follow his father out to the trading outposts and there he was told stories and learned the history of the other races, mainly told to him by the Vantha people, and it was also where he got the idea of leaving his home to travel the world. Although he never agreed with the way Isurian society operated, he never once voiced his opinion to anyone until long after he left. He didn't leave because he got in a fight with parents, or he got in trouble with the law, he left because he didn't agree with how things were done. When he did leave home, however, his father did try to stop him, first trying to convince him to stay, then trying to force him through violence. Botaran didn't fight him though, he just simply walked away, taking only a few things with him, some clothes, a little food and money, and a metal right handed gauntlet, the first thing he ever forged that was worth mentioning.

After leaving Sultros Bo wandered the land, mainly following the coast of the Suvan Sean, picking up jobs and money where he stopped, never for more than a few days in each town. While traveling he learned as much about local history as he could, usually from old fishermen.
