Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

11th Autumn 514AV

The expanse of blue was surprisingly larger than what he first thought, shimmering and rippling, with the white breaks crawling its way up the sand. Bare toes gave a wriggle upon it, the boots held firmly between his thumb and fore finger as he walked his way along it. There was the subtle click of his tongue as he walked, his gaze lifting and looking, or more than simply looking now he was closer. His gaze drunk in the scene and the scents of salt, the blink to the rise and fall of waves as it lapped its way up, and a confused tilt to one side as he tried to consider what exactly it was.

It was certainly not a river, he mused, nor was it a pond - a far too great of an expanse to be of such a thing. He did consider that perhaps it was in fact an overly large lake, but that thought was brushed aside very quickly. To his knowledge, lakes did not swell up or roll against the ground that held them - instead they seemed to be rather still and mirror like in design. He cocked his head to one side, the careful placing down of boots before he made his way over and crouched. The water rolled on past, the low hissing crackle as it lapped at his feet and proceeded to roll away again. Waves, tidal, he managed to grasp that much in his mind - they were not completely alien to him as words - but of what to call this escaped him.

He vaguely remembered a passing name, the tall blue men uttering the 'Suvan Sea' and the docks that were nestled down within the lowest tier. His head cocked to the other side, fingers reaching down to simply touch and feel it upon his digits. Cool and flowing like river water, he raised the digits, the golden orbs blinking upon the damp. A testing sniff, a pull back as he considered his next move. Both hands cupped it up, a peer into the glimmering surface before he raised it to his lips - and immediately regretted the action.

Zydrunas spat and coughed. There was only a look of disgust as he tried to wipe the taste away with his sleeve, his lips twitching and his eyes almost glaring down upon it as if it was a poison - it certainly tasted vile enough. There were a few spits, a hiss as he shook his head and scrabbled away back to his boots. Not freshwater, not suitable for drinking, it was an obvious thing now he had attempted to consume it. But it still looked so unsuspicious, lying in wait almost and waiting for the unsuspecting to tumble into its murky depths. Drumming his fingers upon the sand once more he regarded the sea carefully, considering his next point of research.

With only a quick glance round to his surroundings, a clamber up to his feet as he checked for onlookers. Upon finding none, he begun the process of testing the water in other ways. The coat and scarf was thrown off first, dropped in a heap next to the boots without a second thought, the shirt following suit shortly after. Muscles gave a flex, the tendons making themselves known as he stretched out, a rise up onto his toes and then a relax. There was the faint rattle of beads around his wrist, and barely a consideration as the rest was simply tossed to one side. This 'sea' beckoned him and it was with that, Zydrunas stuck to simply floundering about in the shallows - quite content to simply float and drift with the tide. Until he heard laughter.

Chirping, light, it was a sound that caused him to lift his head sharply and stare out across the surface. His eyes blinked at the shapes of young children, their bright and bold skins marking them out from human beings. There was a moment of alarm as he watched them hover around his clothing, seemingly grabbing and pulling upon the layers. He stood of course, skin soaked as he waded through the depths towards them.

"Hey! You! What you doing?" He caught the glance up to him, hands having grasped their way tightly around the edges. More laughter, the points of amusement even as he closed in to them. They continued to chatter away in their native tongue. He staggered right up to the shore now, watching the children shift and begin the dart away. His pace quickened, watching their forms shifting as if to run - which they promptly did with his clothing. Teeth clenched into a line, a mad flail as he hurried his steps. He barely managed to dive at them and across the sand, hands snatching at the fabric. In turn, it was released, blooming out in the wind, whilst his fingers managed to snag upon his scarf before he collided with the ground stunned - the rest of the articles were released across the beach as the children made their hasty escape. He released a hiss of annoyance, "Children!"

[The Bay] Fresh and Salt

Salty air stung a pale, sensitive nose- whispered breezes plucking at silvery strands, while warm brown eyes roamed over the spectacle of sparkling light, dancing upon the waves. Behind those eyes, a mind brooded.

'Why?' Why did she feel the urge to plunge into the watery depths before her? Head tilted to rest against a large rock, Anweira stared at the waves intently, having expected to feel that familiar sensation of a sinking stomach, small tremors through her shoulders... the sensation of fear that would have normal driven her away from the mere sight of the Suvan Sea. Oh, she could admire the sight of the sea, with it's myriad of greens and blues and ever changing beauty- it was only when she began to recall that the liquid before her could consume her entire being into it's watery grasp.

Yet, ever since the change of the season, she had had the strangest desire to plunge into that very grasp; to dive into the glistening waves and submerge herself completely. The urge had driven her to wander near the shore, as she was doing at that moment, for the past fortnight or so. Something was wrong with her, yet she could not understand how or why there was such a shift. It was not only herself- the polar bear had seen strange behaviour spread throughout the city... at least, that was what she thought. The people whom she normally saw with 'happy' expressions had recently appeared to have become cold. '... sick?' she wondered.

Anweira lay back on the sand, turning her eyes to the sky above and her mind away from such brooding. Like the sea, the sky was blue and vast; limitless. It made her feel tiny, as if she were under the calm, but powerful gaze of a much older, wiser, and more dominant elder. She could sink into the depths of such a feeling for what felt like bells. Hushed giggles caught her attention.

If she had been in her animal form, one would have seen her ears prick towards the sound. As it were, her head swivelled as she searched for the sound, her curiosity piqued at the sight of children moving stealthily across the beach few yards away from her, as if it were a great game. Peering over the rock, she watched as the Akalak cubs darted forwards to snatch at their prize- a pile of clothes - picking and poking at them with interest. They reminded her of the scavenger birds that pecked at the remains of someone else's meal.

From the corner of her peripheral vision, she noticed a irregular movement in the water, and watched as a naked man emerged from the waves. She was not stunned by the sight of the man's bare skin- such things were relatively common for Kelvics, but she was struck between shock and amusement as she observed the events that followed. One had to admit that the sight of naked man running and hissing after laughing children was a sight to see.
As luck would have it, the children had run in her direction. The polar bear to pity on the man who clearly seemed distressed, and caught two of the children by their arms. "What do we have here?" she asked in rough Tukant, her voice containing a light, amused quality to it.

Zydrunas continued his chase, a mad scramble of fingers and hands as he tried to grasp upon what he could before it slipped away. Boots thudded first, but they did not do him much good - he needed to gain hold of the other, more important articles however, and with the sandy status of his feet the boots could wait. The steps thundered, the scarf wrapping around his arm as he continued his dashing, the taunting cries of foreign tongues. So focused he was, the mind racing towards the end goal of not being forced to strut about Riverfall in his natural form, that he took a few moments to truly register that there was an actual other present.

The Dhani gave a skid, a mad flail of arms as he squared his gaze against the pale woman. Or more than pale - she looked like snow. His head cocked to one side, the clicking tone she had spoken the same as the children and far from beyond his understanding. Straightening himself out, his eyes gave a flicker down once to the children she had managed to grasp. They gave their objecting squirms, the struggle as Zydrunas took the moment to compose himself the best manner he could achieve at the time. If it could even be called composure. The Scarf was wrapped around his neck, the discarding of the ends over his shoulder as he met the gaze.

There was a mighty flick of the hand, the other one planting itself firmly upon his hip. A brief flash of a grin, he threw aside his current state and let the golden orbs plant upon the woman. It was only then that he filled his lungs, and spoke with perhaps a bit too much zeal.

"Hallo there!" He gave a lean in, holding his chin firmly between his thumb and forefinger, "I am Zyd-Run-Ass, Lord of the Dance. But you, fair maiden, may call me Zyd" A wink, another flash of teeth as he looked down to the caught and snared blue children. Whatever the woman had said was beyond him, it was a foreign tongue and beyond his immediate understanding, "A lucky one you are to catch I in the natural form. Extraordinary be it not?" It was only then that the amused features and words finally were caught up by thought. His expression fell, eyes growing large as he spied the clothing once more the children had managed to keep hold of. The hand gave a lunge out, taking the loose pants from the child and quickly turning away.

Shuffling, he covered himself with them, looping the ties round and providing a lot more modesty than he had mere chimes before. He turned back then arranging himself and giving another flashing grin, "But I have got to protect your maiden gaze from looking for too long, no? I hope it be lovely to you even now." The eyes slid down to the children, and reached his hand out once more - he plucked the belt from them this time, the dagger and its sheath hanging off of it - he quickly buckled it to himself once more. With a blink he looked upon the woman once more, a tilt of the head to one side as he looked around the rest of the beach for his discarded articles, "I believe, here be the moment I thank, correct?" He gave a sweeping bow then, "Thank you, for getting back my cloth. By grabbing the troublemaker."

She fell into a spiral of confusion, shock, embarrassment, and amusement, as she watched the strange man appeared to compose himself with nothing but a scarf around his neck. Such a thing as even a sense of composure would have been a great achievement in itself, but he somehow managed to take a slight edge off of her embarrassment with his attempt, whether or not he truly brought some sort of poise to the situation.

Despite having had some exposure to males in their natural form, the situation dictated a different approach than the one she was most used to; that is to say, she was only used to naked males who were in that state due to their transformation from bestial to human form. A random, bare skinned male, was something she had never encountered before. How was she to react in such circumstances? The kelvic was bewildered, before the man began to introduce himself in the manner of an entertainer, though his zealous enthusiasm slightly hurt her ears. His voice seemed to carry a thick accent, one that she could not place, nor tried to, as he pronounced his name as Zydrunass. Perhaps it was because of the strangeness she had noticed within herself and others over the past while, but she giggled at pronunciation of the last part of his name, his odd title mildly pricking her interest. 'He certainly has an ass... but can he actually run?' she wondered, moments later, silently rebuking her mind for having such thoughts. It did not help her train of thought at all, that he had taken it upon himself to flaunt his current state to her in all of his natural glory. "I suppose,” she said as she did her best to divert her gaze from becoming an open stare, the hints of a grin twitching at the corner of her mouth; a failed attempt at restraining her amusement.

His quick grab for his clothing- his pants to be precise, startled her out of the sense of ease she had felt until that moment, a lull that she had been unaware of, and allowed her to momentarily see him as a predator. “The show is over?” she enquired playful disappointment, “you are too kind,” and as simple as that, she was once more something other than her regular self, with a faint blush staining her cheeks a light pink. A sudden tug of movement in her hands was an effective distraction from the... interesting male before her.

"Next time, I find your parent," she warned the struggling children sternly, looking each in the eye, while the man- while Zyd adorned himself with the last of the Akalak cubs' spoils- absently noting that he still lacked something for his upper half. With that, she released the children and watched them until they had scampered out of sight. Once she had turned her attention back to the somewhat flamboyant character of a male, she watched curiously as he tilted his head, and gave her a sweeping bow as he thanked her. “It was no terrible feat,” she said with a soft chuckle.

A step towards him brought her close enough to look directly into his eyes, quite a forward gesture for her normal self. There was something about his eyes though... that made her curious. They seemed familiar somehow, though she did not understand why. She covered her curiosity with a playful poke and grin, and twirled away towards the closest article of clothing in the sand. “What were you doing that would put you in such a situation?” she asked with open interest, “swimming?” she guessed, “or perhaps... it was intentional?” her tone painted with a dose of mock shock.

“Ah! I guess I should introduce myself,” she said, shaking out the sand before tossing the cloth into Zyd's arms. “I am Anweira, though some call me by An, Anwei, Eira... sometimes by Snow or Snowball too,” she added after a moment's hesitation. “But you may call me by what you like.” The kelvic took a seat on a slab of rock, this time allowing her warm brown gaze to openly roam his form. Truly, she was not behaving as she normally would.

There was a scratch as Zydrunas adjusted himself, rolling into the fabric as he pulled it about and into shape. Eyes gave blink, the lips pursing as he tried to work out where the rest of his clothes had gone off to. Whilst he had managed to recover his belt and trousers, the rest had been scattered across the rolling sands and caught in the low winds. The smallest crease caused him to pause, thinking as he tried to considered what to grasp for first before snapping his attention solely back round to the smirking woman before she scowled the children and then let them escape off to who knew where.

"Over?" A dart of the tongue, a flick of the hand as he spotted his shirt discarded some feet away, "But my dear, it ha' only begun. Much entertainment will come, watch and wait. There will be more, once I am more comfortable." He sauntered off, sweeping the scarf over one shoulder as he walked, swaying movements before he plucked it up off the sands. A mighty shake, the whipping of fabric and sand into his face. A moment of fluster, he tugged it up over his head wriggling through the fabric. He adjusted it, an angry scratch to the grains as he pulled himself once more into shape. Lips pulled in irritation, an attempt to shake off the itching feeling that caressed his skin until at last it calmed.

"The water, it called to me," he paused to look back across the water then, his eyes glazing over as he considered it, "I could not help it, needed to feel it. Check it... Dah, 'wimming. Though, if you prefer we would call it intentional. For you." Another playful wink, a broad grin as he raised his brow to look upon the woman, eyes lighting up as he took the scene in for what it was - though his thoughts continued to niggle the reminder of being careful and protect his identity to the best of his ability. Eyes gave a blink, his thoughts flowing to and fro as he tried to feel his way around the situation in the best possible way. He paused, "Many thank you, however. It would be awkward to return among the giant like that. Much intimidation, much indeed."

Cheeks puffed, another pace of bare feet crunched into the sand, "Beautiful day though, no? Clear air, lovely view. Not viewed the water before like that, far the eye can reach, a mirror of rippling blue..." Another flick of the hand, he found one of his boots and gave the leather a firm bash, knocking the sand free from it as he did. It had managed to get everywhere in such a short space of time, wriggling in and proving to be largely uncomfortable. But, there was something else that had caught his attention, and forced him to solely turn it onto her without a moment of easing off.

"I will call you Anweira... but..." He tucked the boot under one arm, a moment to try and comprehend what this new word was, "What... ball.... Ssnow? What be that? I... it be a word I do not know." Intense, he gave a step back to her, a small tilt of the head upwards to the noticeably taller of the two. He still seemed to be trying to work out what exactly was said, this foreign substance being beyond him for the most part, "Tell me?"
