Appearanceəˈpɪər(ə)ns
Let us be grateful to the mirror for revealing to us our appearance only.
It is honeyed skin, weathered in places where there was long periods of exposure to the elements whilst in others it is smoother that hold the man together.

Human
It is his body that is lanky, though not without strength, with little gracing his frame in terms of excess fat or muscle. Slender built and of a suitable weight to his size, he often stands straight and refuses to hunch over - mainly to maintain a good posture and less strain on his muscles, so he claims. His limbs are long, the core of his body short in comparison to the rest of him, with conic hands and feet ending them off - supposedly belonging to that of a dancer. It is upon the Deltoid muscle of his arm that he carries a tattoo of a snake coloured dark blue with white bands coiled around itself with a single rain drop in the center of its coil - a symbol that the fresh water Iyvess use to identify their fellows.

A thin trail of dark, scruffy stubble works its way around his strong, narrowed jaw, a slight concave inwards that lead round to full, pink lips. Following the same line, he carries a set of high cheek bones and a slightly tapered chin - a balanced framing of his features. He sports a few nicks here and there, a roughness and unkemptness to his looks that suggests a nomadic life style - or one who has little time in which to worry too much about it. With this somewhat scruffy look in mind, the man looks around his mid twenties - the bubbling energy that can sometimes rise up within giving him a flash of youthfulness.

His dark thick hair is kept short and messy, a collection of dark brown flicks and strands rising here and there as if compelled by a will of their own. Above his right brow is a thin white scar, noticeable if caught in the right light or if he becomes more heavily tanned. Golden brown eyes, almost like amber, glint in the light; his gaze if often focused, looking with thought and curiosity onto things - or brooding depending on who you ask - searching almost for an understanding of their inner machinations. It can soften, on occasion, and when it does the lips most often peel back to reveal a broad smile - pure unwavering amusement clear upon his face.

Zydrunas' dialect can be described a light but slow, far from weighty within an almost free spirited ring within it. Certain letters are rolled more than others, vowels kept short and precise, with a seeming avoidance of some words all together. However whenever certain words with 's' in them however come about and he is forced to speak them, his sibilant speech reaches forth and stretches them out into hisses.

Often, he dresses within loose, flowing clothing. Used to the desert climate, he dons the light cottons and fabrics in aid to keep cool, rarely moving to that of leathers or tighter clothing due to the way it suffocates the skin. Often a hood and a scarf is wrapped round to protect the skin from the glare of the midday desert sun, but come the cooler hours less is worn and more is exposed to the elements. In all there is the look of a traveller of him, though where he is going next is a mystery.

Forms
Dhani:
Reaching 18 feet in length, Zydrunas' Dhani form is one built for swimming. Narrow and agile, he sports a thick collection of webbing between his fingers and beneath his arms to help propel him forward through the water. His head begins to pull into a more oval shape, the tail short and pointed, featuring the start of a small ending paddle. Black scales hold his form, the iris also darkening to a near black in colour, with a collection of alternating white bands working its way across and a white underbelly.

Snake:
At a total of 21 feet in length this Iyvess' snake form might be long and useful for constricting - but it is the narrow paddle like tail that it features. Dark scales once more cover him, with many white bands covering his form once more. His eyes have also become smaller, completely black and making it difficult to pick out the pupil. The head stretches out, becoming broad and oval in shape - but flat thus making it distinguishable from the distinct vertebral ridge that runs along its body - with his nostrils having become large. His fangs however remain small, and fixed within the front of the upper jaw.

Abilties
  • Inherent Swimming ability.
  • Lowlight vision which allows him to see the relative depths of any pond or river.
  • Detect wibrations and movements in water.
  • Able to hold breath for long periods of time - presently 3 bells.
  • Whilst other Dhani have a bit of a homing instinct to know where their nest is, the freshwater Iyvess have an ability to find sources of freshwater.
  • Human form strength is one and and half times that of the average human.
  • Dhani form strength is twice as much strength as the average human.
  • Excellent senses of smell, taste, and hearing, average sense of sight.
    • As a human, the only sense that is amplified is their sense of taste.
  • Night sight by sensing body heat and outlines to the point of being able to create an entire picture out of temperatures.
    • Dhani and snake forms only.

Species
This Dhani is patterned after a Many-banded krait (Bungarus multicinctus).
General Description: Its body is slender and moderately compressed, with the scales being smooth and glossy with a vertebral ridge. The tail is short and pointed. The head is black in colour, as are the small eyes and pupils. Thought to be the 7th most venomous snake species on earth.
Length: 3.3ft to 4.9ft on average, maximum lengths reaching 6.1ft
Weight: Could not be found.
Coloring: Black to dark blueish-black, with approximately 21 to 30 white or creamy white bands across the entire length.
Fangs: Small fangs, fixed and are located at the front of the upper jaw.
Disposition: Very timid and placid species of snake. However at night it may be more defensive.
Diet: Fish, rodents, eels, frogs, occasionally lizards and may also prey on other species of snake as well as its own.
Defenses: Will mainly hide under stones or in holes, will thrash about if handled.
Venom: Consists of pre- and postsynaptic neurotoxins. Average venom yield from specimines kept on snake farms is 4.6mg to 18.4mg per bite. The venom is highly toxic. Symptoms are as so:
Usually the local symptoms are usually neither serious swelling nor pain, the victims merely feel slightly itchy and numb. Systemic symptoms occur (in general), one to four hours after being bitten - including bilateral ptosis, diplopia, discomfort in the chest, general ache, weak feeling limbs, ataxia, glossolysis, loss of voice, dysphagia, tunnel vision and difficulty breathing. In case of serious bite, suppression of breathing may occur, leading to death. Mortality rate thought to be between 20-30% to 77-100% depending on the study chosen.

Zydrunas

Postby Zydrunas on July 25th, 2014, 6:56 am

Personalitypəːsəˈnalɪti
'Pathological liar' is absolutely the toughest individual to deal with. Because you can't take anything they say at face value. And you can't, you know, fill in their personality. You don't know what's real and what's not.
Zydrunas is a liar in every sense of the word.
Built upon and brought up with the ideas of deceit and dishonesty, it is a second nature to him to do so and a habit he has yet to break - habitual and an attempt to find some emotional safe ground in the world around him. It is not to say that he does not feel guilt for such behaviour - it is quite the opposite in the fact - but more is spurned to drive upon impulse to protect his identity and remain a just as a background piece. A way of life that is slowly starting to become the normality with a growing sense of distrust to those about him. To allow himself to open and be honest would serve a lot to ease off his mind - but before such things could occur he would have to find one he could trust. This does not mean he lacks respect for life and those he speaks to, nor does he aim to be malicious to them even if they are of the other races of the world. He simply carries a lot of uncertainty that will diminish as he begins to understand Mizahar, and so finds his place within it.

One of the few things he does not lie about however is his faith in Makutsi and Zulrav; the former for it is to the Goddess for the way he is - a dancer of the rains and seeker of water - and the latter for just like the four winds, the world is open to him to travel through. Devoted to them and worshipping them through his own ways, he tries his hardest to be honest about them; with the feeling it is an insult to even consider not to. Another is his love of dance and movement, despite being often described as having two left feet within his youth. Not that it discouraged him, if anything it made him strive to improve his techniques where he can and frequently leaves him with a broad grin.

His passions also lie in that of water, not in just a physical sense but the nature of how it behaves; from the smallest drops and streams, to the largest lakes and rivers. Due to being raised within the Eyktol region, when he left the nest to answer the nomadic nature of the Iyvess a strong amount of curiosity and wanting to understand why the land was so dry and if the stories of greener pastures elsewhere were actually based on fact. Upon discovering that the tales were true, his passion of the substance of water grew and was filled with questions - Why does it rain more in some places? Why are there large rivers and lakes? How can they and water be used? Why has Makutsi blessed places with more fresh water and rains than others? What can he do to with this knowledge?

Of course, this was not just for himself, but also to better understand on how to serve Makutsi to the best of his ability. This does not mean that he is a zealot in his ways, but it is just his own personal task to do so and serve - if not in a somewhat fun and jovial manner.

Another factor for Zydrunas is his drive to sate his curiosity whilst balancing out a more mischievous side, wrapped with attempted good humour that has a tendency to come out in a loud fashion. Far from formal, Zydrunas will more often than not skip such things and allow his more free-spirited approach take over. Life is too short and the world is a big place. Having only just become an adult in the eyes of the Dhani - and thus still prone to the occasional childish spat - it will prove to be a big adventure to explore beyond the seclusion of the Eyktol desert he once called home.

Zydrunas

Postby Zydrunas on July 25th, 2014, 7:10 am

Historyˈhɪst(ə)ri
Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.
The autumn rains were upon the desert when Zydrunas came into the world, there was always the faint patter beyond and the skies grey with the heavy loads of moisture.
Hissing almost as the cool met the hot sands below. Small, gentle rivulets of water danced across his skin, a loud cry of life from his form - whilst the rest of his clutch remained silent to the world. A miracle in some regards that he had been spared unlike the rest of his siblings. It was not long after, that his birth mother - a nameless one - left once more to answer the nomadic call of his kind. Not that it stunted him in any way. To him, those few who lived within the nest were his family - even if he was not directly related to them. Everyone was a cousin, an uncle, an aunt and so on within his mindset. In return he was treated the same, fostered in and raised by the elders within the home he grew to know as the desert.

To begin with, Zydrunas was kept ignorant of his heritage and was wrapped up within a veil of dishonesty as to why he was the way he was. Kept out of sight when the 'untrusted' were around, he spent many a year within his snake form, even when he finally managed to learn to take on the form of a Dhani in late 439 AV. It could simply be described as a level of paranoia that grew into some state of normality to simply never trust another completely. Outsiders were a potential danger that could only be controlled by keeping them unknowing. Because of this he often stuck to his older, more familiar form- believing that it allowed him to blend in more easily with his surroundings and remain hidden. It was also one he chose to maintain whilst hunting, the improved senses aiding in these ventures.

However, as he grew older, he was told of his actual identity by his elders. He was a Freshwater Iyvess, one of the few in the world who lived to this day, and kept in secrecy due to the disdain received from the other Dhani - in particular, those of Falydar. Taught about his kind, he felt the weight of responsibility fall upon him for many a thing - if not for his revealed duty as a rain dancer, then for the secrets he had to keep; as an Iyvess and as a recently initiated reimancer. Years past, and he continued to grow as a person, the compelling urge to turn his gaze out and explore the arid world around him. It was not long after his 97th year that he learned to take the form of a human. Free now and allowed to reveal himself to the world, he answered the calling to leave.

Much in keeping with the nomadic life style of the freshwater Iyvess, Zydrunas started his journey out of his nest and into the world beyond- though not without cautiously chosen words, to keep himself as secret and unknown as possible. To begin with, he kept his distance; viewing places of civilization with care and chose only to enter as a snake in many places, even after he managed to finally grasp his human form. Once he grew more confident with his newer, human form, he often stuck to it as much as possible . No one seemed to notice what he really was within this form, thus it proved well to hide his nature.

There was also always a deliberate avoidance of words that would bring out his sibilant speech; and as time progressed he grew more and more dishonest with those about him. Lies became a frequent occurrence, carefully crafted and placed phrases to create a false identity of who he really is - and forever seeking some form of security that he was safe. But that was not the only thing that possessed him, his fascination with water came into bloom - to know its nature completely and then use that same understanding to further his connection with his Goddess. And such things grew more when he finally stumbled upon the tales of green grass and long winding rivers that cut through it.

Once more he explored the edge of the desert, learning of the green plains that made it up and making frequent returns to the near city of Ahnatep as he attempted to understand this new land that was before him. His world had just gotten bigger, and it was upon the dawn of summer 514 AV that he heard the name of another city upon the lips of others, where the water comes crashing down, and a blue stretches out further than the eye can see - Riverfall.

85th Summer 514 AVArrives in Riverfall.

Fall 514 AV: Zydrunas arrived in Riverfall, and immediately his mind looked for an answer to what was before him. The only reasonable one he could find when faced by the bold colours of the Akalak, the stretching Suvan Sea, and the rushing waters of the city was - "It is a dream. And I cannot wake up." Whilst there was much insistance that the city was indeed real, it was inevitably the thing that drove him away for normality. It was thus on the 60th of the season that he took a trade vessel northwards and continued his travelling - to Syliras.

Winter 514 AV: It was on the 19th that the Iyvess made land in the city. Cold, and surrounded by an alien environment - but now knowing he was faced with a level of normality, and that the strange 'dream' was behind him, Zydrunas sent himself forward once more. To the Knights.

Beliefbɪˈliːf
One person with a belief is equal to ninety-nine who have only interests.
Makutsi and Zulrav
ImageHis first and primary Goddess, this deity holds a special place within Zydrunas. As the bringer of rains, rivers and anything else related to water, he finds it his duty to assist her not only due to his wanting to know of the nature of the element - but also as first marked by her and thus one of her Rain dancers. Enjoying of her free spirited way, Zydrunas often mimics this and will happily attempt to prove his dedication to her time and time again.

Having carried her blessing for as long as he can remember, it appears upon the base of his neck and as a collection of small, risen droplets. Upon being activated in the midst of his dancing, the droplets run out into thin rivulets across the back of his neck and begins to crawl its way across his shoulders - giving the illusion of running water across his back.

About :
At this level, one Raindancer can bring forward a very light shower of rain that will cover one square mile and will last for ten minutes. The rain can take anywhere from an hour to a whole day to finally fall. It should be noted that when a Raindancer calls the rain, rain is the only result. Not wind, not thunder, not lightning. Only rain.

ImageHis second chosen God, Zulrav is someone Zydrunas looks up to. As a bringer of weathers and winds, he understands that the mighty storms or winds always come eventually, and more often than not carry the heavy rains and waters. His other is the simple comforting knowing that wherever he goes, whatever he does, he will never be truly bound, just like the winds will always be there serving as a reminder that he can indeed get anywhere in time - for the world is open to him to travel through and experience to its fullest.

Description: One of the few things Zydrunas took with him when he left the nest, this hand knotted prayer beads is made up of 108 small blue stone beads (8mm) strung upon a black cotton thread, with an additional copper marker bead next to the 21st, 54th and 87th. It is finished off with a larger copper bead (12mm) and a handmade black and white cotton tassel. Approximately 19 inches long, it can fit comfortably wrapped around many a wrist 5 or 6 times.
