Kechaiya Race: Mixed Blood, Eypharian and Chaktawe (Tatsuwaat Tribe) Gender: Female Age: 22 Birthday: Summer 34, 492 AV Birthplace: In the sands of Eyktol Current Location: Sunberth Occupation: Doctor, 12gm/day Appearance: Kechaiya is thin and small, from years of lean living in Sunberth. She comes to a staggering 5'2", and is often seen making herself smaller in appearance. She has dark brown, straight hair that hangs a little past her shoulders. She has the stark black eyes courtesy of her Chaktawe heritage, and sunkissed skin. She wears simple, nondescript clothing, and more often than not, attempts to be invisible to the casual observer. Character Concept Kechaiya, like most Sunberthians, doesn't trust strangers easily, and being a foreigner has great difficulty making friends. As such, she often throws herself into her work with a no nonsense attitude. She is not an altruistic doctor, for it is mainly a way for her to make money. She will not treat anyone without some form of payment, nor will she risk her life for a stranger. She often comes off as cold, but that is simply because she struggles to get close with people. Character History Kechaiya was born to Jespaj, her father, of the Tatsuwaat tribe, and Rakshara re Naphu, her mother, in their simple home among the Keerdash trees. Her father was one of the tribes doctors, having learned his craft from his father, who learned it from his father, and so on. Kechaiya was the first of her line to be born a female, and had no other siblings. Her father loved her no less for this fact, teaching her that gender was not as important compared to how one impacted the world. He was her main mentor growing up, teaching her much about medicine, culture, and history of her tribe, race, and region. Kechaiya was not nearly as close with her mother, though they still got along. Rakshara was an herbalist and poisoncrafter by trade, and passed on some of her knowledge to her daughter. In the summer of her 13th year, Kechaiya and her family were out in the sands, ready to begin her survival trainings, so that she could undergo her Searching. While they were out, Kechaiya, in a fit of fun, ran off from her father over a dune. And there she was captured by Khestra re Naphu, a female Eypharian slaver. Using Kechaiya as a hostage, she also captured her parents, and took them back to her compound that also served as where she trained and traded slaves. Cruelly, she forced Kechaiya to use her mediocre medical skills to torture the other slaves at her leisure, and then fix them back up to proper health. Kechaiya stayed as a slave for a year and half, managing to escape when Khestra was out finding new slaves in the deserts. The young woman made her way to Ahnatep's docks and managed to stowaway on a ship, leaving her parents and homeland behind. Kechaiya stowed away from ship to ship, port to port until the winter after her 16th birthday, when she finally stopped running and settled in Sunberth. When Kechaiya disembarked, she immediately learned the cruel nature of Sunberth as a man attempted to assault her. But Calyn, the proprietor of the Sunset Quarter Orphanage and Cheap Side came to her rescue. Calyn took her in when she had nothing but the clothes on her back. Kechaiya could barely speak Common, and over the next couple of years, the woman helped Kechaiya learn to speak Common a bit more properly, and learn the ways of Sunberth. Kechaiya found work as a roaming doctor, finding patients where she could. She provided her services to the children of the orphanage for free as a way of paying back the woman who took her in. When Calyn died in the orphanage fire, Kechaiya mourned her, but continued her philanthropic endeavors toward the orphans. Kechaiya now maintains a professional relationship with Jillene, the newest proprietor of the orphanage. Recent History Fall, 514 AV : The massive outbreak of gang violence in the Fall of 514 changed Kechaiya’s life dramatically. Because of the increase of patients, she was able to make much more money in Sunberth than she had in any season past. The violence sought her to find protection from one of the major gangs. The Sun’s Birth answered this call, not only providing protection from any future violence, but also gave her a loan, which coupled with her savings, allowed her to open the Ebony Eyes Clinic in the Winter of 514 AV. During this season, despite being kept incredibly busy, Kechaiya developed two very important relationships. The first was with a man named Noven, a cook at the Sunset Quarter Orphanage. The pair had met when Noven was injured during the gang violence, and Kech fixed him up. Shortly after, Kechaiya was attacked by a mugger on her way to deliver sleep aid herbs to the cook. Noven successfully rescued her, which is what first caused Kechaiya’s interest to form for the man. It started off slow, with Kechaiya taking the first step, stealing away her first kiss from him, which was eventually reciprocated by the cook. They pair went through many trying times during the season, from helping rescue kidnapped orphans from slavers, to raiding the bandit claimed farms for food during the shortage. Overcoming these trials, their relationship went to the next level after attending a party at the Quay. After a night of passion together, Kechaiya was no longer a virgin and the two were closer than ever. The other important relationship Kechaiya developed was with the dancer Caela Dorin. The two women met when Caela was injured while dancing at the Pig’s Foot Tavern, and Kechaiya treated her. The pair ran into each other one night while Caela was working, and Kechaiya was getting drunk for the first time. Caela put up with the alcohol-induced, overemotional Kechaiya, who was wishing to garner the attention of Noven, but didn’t know how. Caela helped Kechaiya realize several of her own strengths and develop some confidence. The pair have had their share of run-ins with trouble together, but managed to always look out for each other. Caela is Kechaiya’s first non-romantic friend, and definitely her closest. Because Caela helped Kechaiya with her relationship with Noven, Kechaiya is currently trying to set Caela up with some men she meets, but thus far has not been successful.

After a romantic night of Kechaiya sewing up his wound, and him cracking one of her ribs, she found the courage to kiss him for the first time. Noven revealed his Krysus mark to her, but Kechaiya didn't care. After some emotional turmoil, he finally reciprocated with a kiss of his own. From this point on, the pair were casual in this new relationship. Until the night of the Quay party, where the liquid courage, some training taught by Caela, and a little boldness on Kechaiya's part, she took him back to her apartment, with only one thing in mind. 4 Caela Dorin A customer of Kechaiya's, having injured an abdominal muscle. Caela's beauty sparked some jealousy within Kechaiya, as well as self-consciousness. 1 Simeon Aytak Kechaiya and Simeon have a fairly new, professional relationship. He's an herbalist, she's a doctor, and the two hoped to exchange knowledge with one another in their more learned crafts 1 Amon Torque Kechaiya and Amon met during a violent outbreak in the streets, both of them working to fix up gangsters. Kechaiya found Amon's medical knowledge to be lacking in some key areas, and thought him a bit weak in personality. She has recently begun thinking of him, internally, as The Fool. She walks all over him, and it seems he is content with just taking it. 2 Vaylen Stroud Vaylen and Kechaiya didn't have the greatest of first impressions when Vaylen approached her with a head wound.
