“Petch, petch, petch PETCH!” Raus snarled to nobody in particular as he paced around in his shack. Snarling like a really pissed of animal. He tried to calm himself down and sat on his bed, still seeing red. Not only had he been sent back home as soon as he had arived at his job. As the old man decided to close the tavern till the voilence died down a bit. But he didn't have anything to eat anymore at home. He had been taking his meals at the bloody tavern the last few day's. The idea of leaving food unatended in his home during a shortage hadn't been a good one. Now he was regretting not taking the risk.

His stomach growled again. Pulling the attention back to the problem. Raus let out a sigh as he got back on his feet and began rummaging through his cupboards and cabinets. Trying to find at least something edible in them. He didn't really have much luck. He checked everywhere, even outside the places he usually stored his food in. Just to make sure he hadn't forgotten about a small stack of emergency rations if he had some real luck he might find a half dead rat tucked away in a cupboard. Left by one of the many stray cats living in the neighborhood.

All he found however, was a few moldy loafs of bread that were hard enough to stab somebody with. An old shirt that was more hole then fabric and two cage traps. Raus ended up staring at them like a moron for a few moments as he was trying to figure out why exactly he had those things. He had often put mystery meat into the tavern's stew. But usually catching them was Tenny's job. Was it a joke gift he completely forgot about? He shrugged it off eventually though. At least with the moldy bread and those two traps he could try and get some small animals to eat. He had seen tenny come back with traps filled with rats and squirrels. If that vapid prettyboy could do it. He wouldn't have a problem with it. He shoved the moldy bread in his pockets Stuffed the traps underneath his arm and walked out of the door with a determined glare on his face.

-_-_-

Raus had found what he thought was a pretty good spot for his trap. An alley between two structures that was so small that it was more an opening between those two buildings then a real alley. But he guessed that rats would feel at home in the place. He set down one of the traps on the floor and held up the other one. Trying to figure out how the bloody cage worked. He pulled on the door. Letting it move slightly on the rails. Feeling some resistance from the spring on the side of the entire contraption. He pulled it up higher, keeping an eye on the spring of the cage so that he didn't accidentally break it. After pulling it up high enough He heard a click and felt something snap into place. The little gate didn't fall shut after he let it go. He smiled. This was easy enough, open the cage, put the bait in there. No wonder Tenny always came back with lots of mystery meat. Even complete idiots could do this! He put the trap down on the ground and fished one of the moldy loafs of bread out of his pocket. He broke of a piece and put it side of the trap.

Which promptly slammed shut on his fingers. “Krysus hairy cunt!” Raus lifted up the gate and pulled out his fingers. Carefully cradeling them in his other hand as he grit his teeth in pain. He carefully took a look at them and wiggled the fingers. They hurt like krysus herself had bit him. But they worked and he didn't feel like anything had been broken. Muttering some curses underneath his breath he lifted up the trapdoor. Gentily and not high enough for it to snap into place and threw the piece of bread in with his smarting fingers. He didn't trust the bloody trap enough to not snap down on his fingers again. He crudely shoved the trap against the wall of one of the buildings and threw some thrash over it. trying to conceal the trap a bit. He didn't want anybody else to steal his trap. He stuffed his bait back in his pocket and picked up his remaining trap. He was going to see if he couldn't find another good spot to put this trap away.

Meat's back on the menu!

Raus kept an eye on the streets as he walked away from his trapped spot,His single remaining trap under his arm while he cradled his throbbing fingers with his other hand. This was still familiar ground. But even so, he didn't want to get lost. Getting lost in sunberth, even for a short moment. Was a good way to get robbed at the best of times. He didn't even want to think about what would happen in the middle of a food crisis. He just might end losing some limbs, or worse. He rather liked all his limbs attached. He took a left as soon as he left the very small alley. The right would lead him towards the tent city and he would rather avoid that part of the town or any of the streets near them. He was scanning every single every singe alley for signs that it would be a good place for his trap. Though that usually boiled down to two things. Was the alley empty at the moment and weren't there any signs that it would become occupied very soon. But rats were everywhere. Did it really need to have anything else? He followed the road that slowly turned to the right, deeper towards the centre of sunberth. Trying to keep track of exactly where he was and how far he was from his home. Food or no food, he had to be alive to really eat any of it.

Luckely abandoned alley's weren't hard to find in sunberth and he quickly made his way inside one of them. This one was slightly wider then the last one. But it would do nicely in his opinion.
He carefully set down his trap and ripped a piece of his loaf of moldy bread. Repeating the process on how he primed his first cage trap. Carefully lifting up the gate partway. Throwing in the bait and then pulling the gate all the way up till it was locked. Carefully shoving it against the side of the alley. He stood back up. Now all he had to do was wait. He turned around and started to retrace his steps. Go right as soon as he is out of the alley. Follow the street till he found the small alley again and go through it.

When he went through the small alley again. He took another look at the trap. He knew that in such a short time there wouldn't have had the luck to trap a rat. But he looked anyway. Just as he expected. The trap was still open and the bait was still in there. Just as he expected. He left the alley from the other side and made his way back home. Hoping that he had something in his first aid bag to take the edge of the throbbing pain in his fingers.

-_-_-

Raus closed the door behind him and picked up his small bag filled to the brim with various medical odds and ends. He awkwardly shifted through the supplies. “Bandages, needle, thread. Some wierd salve, other wierd salve.” He carefully put the item's next to him as he pulled them out “Bottles.” He turned them around in his hand. Scowling as he read the words antivenom on them. “Bollocks.” He muttered as he didn't see anything that could be used as a painkiller. The guy who had told him that this little kit of medicine had anything to fix people up was a petching liar. He grit his teeth and slowly stretched out his fingers. Winching in pain as he did so. He just gritted his teeth and looked. He didn't see any crooks that would indicate obvious broken bones. Though he doubted the cage had enough force for that. He really needed to check if they weren't broken. He could do petch all about broken fingers and he would have to find a real doctor to get a look at him then. He took a deep breath and steeled himself as he began carefully feeling at his painfull fingers. Pushing and prodding to see if the bones were still in one piece.

Raus nearly let out a scream as he prodded, it hurt like shyke. But he didn't feel like anything was dented or broken in there. So he stopped prodding and vowed to get his hands on some beer or painkillers one way or another. Now however, he just needed to wait a while before checking on his traps again.
