Simylaissen is one of two major workshops on Black Rock run by the Dhani of the Black Marsh to make paper. Their technique and product differs substantially from the product made by the Myrians of Cliffside. The Dhani utilize the Harbinger Reed, cutting swathes of the plant and carefully slicing the hollow plant open, cutting and measuring each strip to size, they press them to flatten them, treat them in solution that bleaches them white, then line them up and use a plant adhesive made from the head of the reed as well as a few types of fungus found in the swamp and carefully connect each strip to one another. They have two finished products, one is a single layer overlapping piece of paper that due to the nature of the reeds, even flattened still has a tendency to roll up on itself. This they sell as scroll material. The other is two layers of these sheets that are fused together with the same paste and make a thicker, but flat sheet of paper.
Cliffside insults Simylaissen's work because there are natural ridges in the grooves between each flattened piece of reed that is lined up and slightly overlaps the next piece of reed, however, these papers also make it extremely easy to keep writing in legible straight lines, and their scrolls are sought after for their durability, their paper for its usefulness in keeping notes and writing organized.
The workshop is located deep in the Black Marsh in the thick of the reeds needed for their work. The Dhani of the marsh are very conscientious of their use and the growth of the reeds

Other: Soral is the undisputed head of Simylaissen. He is a cruel, unforgiving man who seems to find happiness in nothing, and only the slightest contentment in the paper making skill which he has mastered. Though he doesn't seem to outwardly despise the Myrians do for a Dhani as old as he is, Soral refuses to let any work beneath him, not that any would ever try to gain a job there, as it is hard enough to survive your job when you are Dhani, let alone another race...

Other: Nshoss, or 'Hoss' is the woman who gets the paper made by Simylaissen sold around Mizahar. She is constantly traveling around the island, and occasionally to other cities brokering trade relations, connections, and bringing her products to people who have need of them. Most often these journeys take Hoss to Zeltiva where it is easy to reach other trade routes, and she has good relations with the Svefra on the Northern Docks. Any chance Hoss can find to undermine Cliffside's own paper sales she takes with eager prideful glee.

Though Soral is a hard task master, he is always looking for skilled help. This generally comes in the form of Dhani workers, and Soral is rather mistrstful of other races, but will allow all but Myrians to work for him if he sees what he needs in a good worker in them.
