Bleak Heights Paper

There are a lot of strange things about Bleak Heights Paper. First of all, despite the name, the location of the shop and source of a semi-regular periodical for the island is located at the very base of the crag right on the way to the Northern Docks. It is also run by a Dhani and Myrian, which is a topic of much heated discussion among their peers, and a source of much gossip around the island.

In addition, the large hollowed out cavern is a hodge podge of business. While its proprietors would love to make a living off of their 'paper,' they support themselves with its manufacturing as well as selling art and creations from Rockers, as well as a strange and haphazard selection of books, most torn, worn, old, and easily found elsewhere.

Nikkal of the Dancing Dead has paper making skills passed on from his fellows, and is usually busy at work pressing and making paper, and or engraving images and news into wood to print upon the paper he makes. Sharness does not possess the talents of making the ridged reed paper of the Dhani in the depths of the swamp, but is able to finagle and coax pieces of material that her fellows would not consider selling. Combined Sharness and Nikkal are able to make a sturdy fiber generally composed of one layer of reeds and a layer of the pressed fiber paper that they fill with news, events, art, and poetry. They welcome any and all Rockers to contribute to the periodical, create 10-30 copies, and sell and post them around the island, hanging several of the posters of news in the busiest parts of the island, and coating those that remain outdoors with sealant to protect from the constant moisture.

Nikkal

Race: Myrian
Position: Calligraphist of Bleak Paper Heights
Skills: Papermaking 30, Woodcarving 50, Writing 30, Gladius 40
Gnosis: 1 Prowess
Other: Nikkal struggles on a daily basis to make peace with his clan for working with a Dhani. Largely he ignores the gazes and glares, for despite their lack of understanding, people like Sariah are quite in support of Nikkal's bold decision to break away from the traditional Myrian hatred of Dhani. Though friendly to strangers, Nikkal is not very social, and prefers to devote his time and energy to carving and paper making, leaving the talking to Sharness.

Race: Dhani (Constrictor)
Position: Mananger of Bleak Paper Heights
Skills: Papermaking 30, Management 50, Writing 30, Wrestling 40
Gnosis: 1 Prowess
Other: Though much older than Nikkal, Sharness has only had a grasp on her human form for about 5 years, and is considered a child still by her swamp mates. They see her business and paper as a youthful rebellion that she wills surely be over in a half century or less, so for the most part the Dhani in the swamp give Sharness whatever she needs for paper supplies. She is the face and socialite of the Bleak Heights Paper, and works to get more people buying and interested in the periodical in hopes that it can become a more regular entity in the lives of Rockers.

The 'paper' can support various types of paintings, drawings, articles, and even prints, and both Nikkal and Sharness love promoting the work of other artists on the island as well as being a source of employment for them. If someone can find a way to help their paper even in the slightest they will try to find a spot in the shop for them.
