Aryanha’s human form is an imposing six foot three inches tall and hard with muscle, though by no means unfeminine. Her glossy black hair and dark eyes emphasize the striking appearance of her youthful, deceptively innocent face. She is prone to adjusting her complexion and appearance with Morphing for the sake of vanity and to occasionally blend in with the dominant human subgroup. Her serpentine and Dhani forms are reminiscent of the rainbow boa, with a shocking color pattern of orange and teal markings over iridescent scales. She’s never measured herself, but estimates that she is a little over forty feet long as a serpent and about half that as Dhani. She intensely dislikes wearing these forms around civilized regions, preferring to pass herself off as an oddly tall and physically imposing human woman whenever possible so as to avoid racial prejudice. However, she almost always wears halter top dresses, skirts, or robes that she can easily transform in without ripping, just in case.

Character Concept

Aryanha has often been accused of possessing more curiosity than common sense. She’s the girl that will always pull that large imposing lever with the big sign that says “DO NOT PULL” just to see what happens. She values experiences and knowledge far more than anything material and having grown up surrounded by death on Blackrock is prone to a “carpe diem,” risk-taking attitude. She’s also prone to laughing at other’s expense, fond of jokes, and direct to the point of being offensive. Magic, stories, and travelling are her deepest loves and very little puts her off, so much so in fact that it can be disconcerting. Her esoteric interests coupled with her cold-blooded race and growing up around so much death have left her somewhat distant, if cheerfully so. If a man were to drop dead on the street before her from a heart attack, she likely wouldn’t bat an eyelash (though she might throw a party), but if a man were to burn a book in front of her his remains would never be found.

Character History

Aryanha does not remember much of her early years and avoids the subject when at all possible, though if pressed correctly, she will confess to having vague recollections of fire and spears. Her earliest concrete memories are of Anphu and the Circle of the Black Stone, a group those less polite than others would call a death cult, comprised of several different races all with the intent of celebrating Dira. Exactly how dedicated the group was is a matter of debate as they took their founder’s decree to “celebrate death” both literally and liberally, hosting, attending, and throwing parties to honor the dead. It was at one of their parties, celebrating the Day of Spirits, that the young dhani was discovered by Anphu.

Anphu was not the leader nor the founder of the Circle, in fact Aryanha has little idea how he actually got involved with them. But her adopted father seemed to have started a journey with the intention of becoming a great mage and somehow became distracted by the Circle’s whimsy and never amounted to more than a competent dabbler, though skilled enough to train Aryanha when she became capable of assuming human form. The few other members of the Circle with any magical talent or skill possessed those more expected from death cultists and would occasionally claim that Anphu lacked the proper dedication to Dira, though these accusations never amounted to more than a few drunken scuffles. Anphu adopted Aryanha and named her for his mother. Later, after her initiation into reimancy, he took to calling her “the Spitfire” for her habit of forming Res in her mouth and releasing it in gouts of flame. This was eventually shortened into just “Spitfire” and became her de facto surname.

Tragedy struck in the form of a storm. The Circle was celebrating on the coast when it arrived from nowhere to wipe out more than two thirds of their number. Though they celebrated the passing of their companions into the afterlife, the group drifted apart. Anphu and Aryanha took to travelling with the aim of returning to Riverfall, which they eventually did. They remained for less than a season. The martial culture disagreed with Anphu, who struggled to fit in, and Aryanha fared little better. On Black Rock she had never flaunted her being dhani, and travelling overland, she quickly learned to hide it, but she grew to resent being hidden full time, as it quickly became apparent she would have to do were they to continue to live in Riverfall.

They struck out on the road again, this time with their eyes on Zeltivar and its famed university, and even discussed how badly it would offend Dira were they to journey to Sahova. Bandits attacked the caravan they’d taken were travelling with, striking in the dark of night and slaying Anphu. The caravan was burned to the ground, destroying almost all of their belongings. Aryanha escaped and somehow managed to hide away in the tall grass. Nobody is exactly sure what happened to her, but another caravan found her some weeks later after reports of massive brush fires. Oddly, there were no signs of bandits and the human girl they picked up carrying only an old journal wasn’t the slightest bit hungry. When pressed by the caravan leader, she confessed to exploring new ways to celebrate Dira. He stopped asking questions after that and some time later she arrived in Zeltivar.

CHECKMATE

Dear Aryanha,

Upon reviewing your character sheet I have noticed a few issues that need to be addressed before you can continue to role-play on the forums. Please tend to them at your earliest convenience.

History: Let’s talk about how much Myrians hate Dhani. Did I mention that they hate them? Because they do. With an unbridled passion that burns with the light of a thousand suns. There is so much loathing between Dhani and Myrians it’s a wonder the two races can even stand in close proximity to each other without trying to claw each other’s throats out…

…which they usually end up doing anyways.

There’s no love between them. At all.

Moving on.

Akalak know what Dhani are. More importantly, I can’t think of any learned wizard intent on uncovering the lost secrets of the past who would be fooled into thinking a Dhani was a Morpher.

No. Secret lore, lost knowledge, artifacts of power aren’t something you or any NPC associated with you would have heard of or found without direct storyteller involvement. So, no amassing of great knowledge etc. etc. I would also like to point out that wizards don’t just teach people magic on a whim.

Also, Black Rock not Blackrock.

Lores: These lores are not appropriate. Firstly because magical rumors, believe it or not, are not at all common and even if they were you would need to be able to pin-point each one specifically. Being able to find them…because reasons…isn’t feasible. Secondly, you don’t just recognize people who practice magic because…reasons. ANYONE could be a mage. There’s no tell-tale sign that says, “Yup. That’s a wizard alright.” No. It doesn’t work that way.

Possessions: Cloak or coat. Choose one please.

Heirloom: Nope. This is essentially a magical book which requires direct storyteller involvement and thus falls outside the parameters of an heirloom item. Now, if it’s a book that Aryanha wrote herself that’s different.

Regards,
Perplexity
