1st of Spring, Year 515. It was the first of the new year, the first of Yra's third season again on the hard dirt of Mizahar, and it started out much like the previous two did; altogether uneventful through the evening with an atmosphere of anticipation at the fingertips of the dawn bell. Finally progressed from her winter colours to the cool promise of her summer ones, Yra wore proudly the crown of soft lavender upon her blonde head that did well to contrast the orange in her eyes. Yet, even though Yra wore her form proudly, when she left the inn that morning and stepped into the chill sunlight and morning frost, she experienced what she thought was a numb sort of disenchantment, but like the other feelings that weighed down her mood, Yra swallowed that particular stone and closed the door behind her, the crisp sound awakening her from an unsuspected reprieve. The past few days had been rife with murmured conversation among Caelum's guests and the people who inhabited the bar in the late hours, but the cultural significance regarding the first day of spring failed to make a point to Yra. She was more curious than concerned, and as she traced her familiar path to the Alements, Yra kept an eye out for one of the quietly pensive and celebrating she'd been promised. The city was quiet in the early hours though, but the lack of people to 'celebrate' the start of the new year wasn't too disappointing. Yra had found herself enjoying quiet moments with only tolerance for loud and boisterous gatherings. Frankly, the only festive feeling she gleaned from anywhere in the city was when she entered Alements, greeted by the sight of Caelum's inviting... would she be a co-owner? It mattered little, for while Elise presented little of the somber, although proud, atmosphere expected, there were few patrons that arrived before Yra to offer more than enough. "No staring," Elise said upon being greeted by Yra, whom had already begun to stare in blatant and undisguised curiosity. Yra's response was a quickly murmured affirmitive that may have still managed to come out as noncommittal before she donned an awaiting apron and smiled at Elise. The expression, though kind, came edged with silver uncertainty as she considered her standing with Caelum's other employees unknown. "Are we to be busy today?" Yra asked of Elise, collecting the necessities to do her job well. Elise pondered the question for a moment, eyeing the current patronage with a dedicated seriousness that Yra briefly envied. "We will have to see," she said, and nodded Yra to a pair of gentlemen who had just joined them. Yra offered something along the lines of a pained smile and went on her way. |
