Preparing for the Journey Ahead

5th of Spring, 515 A.V.

With most all of the bikkas/mizas in Tinnok's care, earned through hunting for the nest and even from her time in Taloba, the half breed crawled through the lower tunnels into Zinrah's underground depths where few slithered unless there for nefarious purpose. She had never been in the Fence before, but knew its rough whereabouts from others. The entrance was a sight smaller than she expected, a tight squeeze for larger Constrictors, but was quite roomy for her. Immediately after reaching the opening her eyes began to adjust to the masses of objects upon the floor, rotting shelves filled to the brim with...so many things.

So much of the content of the cavern was rusting and in dis-repair, some objects probably centuries old, but here and there vases or rotting barrels held weapons that looked recent and in good repair. She saw jewels, sometimes encased in precious metals shining and new, or dusty and covered in grime. She walked carefully, constantly checking the ground, elbows in tight against her sides, afraid that any false move might send the towers of things falling and crashing to the ground.

"Welcome to the Fence my friend, isss there anything I can-" The voice called out behind a curve in the small narrow pathway of emptiness, and when she came around the bend and was able to glimpse the cleanest and open space in the cavern thus far, it cut off abruptly. The individual was a lanky male Dhani in human form. "-Oh, itss you."

Tinnok was more than used to the disdain of her Dhani peers. She in fact did not mind it one iota, as it was generally lidded under a mask of pretentious politeness, or simple disdain. She felt secure here because she knew Caiyha and to some small extent Siku watched over her here, and the Dhani would not dare harm her. This was something that had never been true living in and around Taloba, and she could care less about the Dhani's superior attitude as long as she knew Tsuya and her were safe.

"You should be the happy." Tinnok began in her heavily accented struggling Common. "I come to prepare for leavings."

Synt perked up at that more than a little, making Tinnok reveal a wry grin. "Well then I will help you more than I would have previoussly, friend." He then turned away and returned to sorting the mound of goods on his desk.

Tinnok decided to explore at first and see what she could find, going over the mental list in her head of the various supplies she was going to need. Most of them related to climbing in some way, and she knew if she was going to find what she needed anywhere, it would be here.

Preparing for the Journey Ahead

Tinnok began collecting things one by one. Many things she knew she needed, but was unsure where they were, or if the Fence would even have them. A Climbing kit of some kind would be necessary that was for sure. As it was she found two hearty jackets, of little use in Falyndar, one slightly smaller than the other. She collected several torches, a ruck sack, and empty back pack for Tsuya to carry some things in, though Tinnok was prepared to carry the brunt of any supplies.

She found a small tent, probably only sized for one person, and grabbed this as well. Tsuya might argue, but Tinnok was determined to be of a skill and willpower to sustain the cold, whether through morphing, or simply many layers of blankets, of which she found several.

She began piling her supplies up upon the already cluttered table near Synt, who looked at her wares with a calculating eye. When she found climbing claws he began to laugh, a long slow sound that rose in pitch until Tinnok was prepared to stab the Constrictor if he continued with it.

"You're going to Kalea?" It was a somewhat rhetorical question, said with the tone of someone who already knew the answer. Tinnok just stared at him. He chuckled. "You'll be lucky to even get acrosss the border. Do you know what the mountainsss are like in Kalea? That iss all mosst of the region issss."

Tinnok paused thoughtfully and looked at him. "You have been?"

Synt snorted. "Wouldn't sset foot in that chilly place."

"Then shut up. Do you have kit for climbs?" And thus her search for supplies continued.

Tinnok was unaware of how many bells she was within the shop, but she had accumulated a massive pile of supplies, some on the ground, around the table when she finally decided she was finished, and even Synt seemed a bit impressed at the collection she had found, some with his help. While he calculated the cost, Tinnok unloaded her bikkas from the backpack she had brought down, then began filling it and the rucksack with supplies as follows:

  • 2 Jackets - 12 SM
  • 1 pair of low boots - 3 SM
  • 2 pair of woolen stockings 1 GM, 2 SM
  • Ruck Sack - 1 GM
  • Backpack - 2 GM
  • Tent (one person) - 2 CM
  • Torches (4) - 8 CM
  • Winter Blankets (4) - 2 GM
  • Water Additive - 3 GM
  • Traveller's Stock - 3 GM
  • Strong Rations (2) - 14 GM
  • Climbing Claws - 8 GM
  • Climber's Kit - 80 GM
  • Total: 142 GM, 8 SM or 48 Bikkas rounding up *Feel free to re-check my math!

The half breed methodically folded and packed everything, keeping most food related gear in her rucksack, and putting lighter gear like blankets, jackets, and boots, in the backpack she would designate to Tsuya, attaching the tent to her bag as well since she would be the one using it. When Synt gave her the price she seemed a bit surprised thinking it would be more, and doled out the appropriate amount of bikkas, a few scattered mizas she had gathered during her stay in Zinrah joining the pile, as they were heavier than the bone coins.

When they were finished Tinnok slung all of her supplies divied up between two backpacks and a rucksack over her shoulder. Synt looked at her with a strange expression than said, "I ssupposse I do not hope you die."

Tinnok smirked, and gave him a nod of thanks before departing, supposing that was a good enough note for her to leave upon. It was a strange feeling that day when she and Tsuya gathered up their previously meager belongings in combination with their newly gotten supplies and set out into the jungle, leaving a place of hatred behind with still some iota of regret.
