Kayuqtuq pushed the door of the coffee shop open, the metal knob sticking to her hand with sweat. She was homesick, her eyes the colour of ice. Wrapped in her heavy cloak, and her necklace and lute, she yearned for the cold of Avanthal. She imagined her fingers numb, her foggy breath, snow crunching under her feet. And so she went to the Bean. In reality, Kayuqtuq felt like she was about to explode. She probably was.
She moved towards the counter. Inside, it was empty. No one wanted coffee on a hot day. Kayuqtuq did. Well, she wanted tea. The man at the counter pointed at a sign that said 'Coffee or tea?' She clutched at her ever-present necklace as her eyes became milky yellow once again. "Tea. Rugberry, if you have it." She sighed as she recalled her childhood favorite. The man nodded. "5 silver Mizas." She handed over the coins and sat down with her cup of tea.
Her eyes became contented orange as the herbal, fruity flavors of the tea sunk into her mouth. The warm tea burnt her tongue, but she didn't care. She was back in Avanthal. It's petching hot! She shivered in the warm, drafty building. The tea made her even warmer. But she didn't care. Her once again ice blue eyes showed that. The tea brought her home. Back to Avanthal. Home.
