Summer 49th, 505 AV Karnia Appearance Don't look too hard now, you might not be able to look away. Full Name: Karnia Race: Symenestra Gender: Male Age: 10 Profession: Slave Likes: Strawberry, books Dislikes: Jokes, annoying people Merits: Observant, meticulous, rational, loyal Flaws: Violent, hot-tempered, likes to complain, clumsy, rude, has no sense of humor, bitter, cold, biased Fluent: Common Basic: Symenos Every time a new kid comes to town, a "competition" is going to be held. The race is all about height. It turns out, Karnia never wins against his rival, but doesn’t know why. Even though he is feathery-light and speedy, with footsteps that lightly grace the ground, his form is built solely for searching the dark's secrets and treasures. His strides don’t reach as far as other boys do.This aggravates Karnia to no end. There are still traces that can not be buried on the boy's skin: marks of different deep wounds made by knives and swords. The first scar is made by a sword, runs deeply from his left shoulder down to the middle of his back. The second scar locates just below his navel, forming a big prominent piece of flesh. There are also three long and thin scars on his right chest. His black hair is tough like a crow's nest and usually tangled, proving its owner sweet and unruly nature. In a sea of crowd, when all your consciousness loses itself to the harsh pull of callous bickering, Karnia, like the brightest northern star, catches your attention. His gaze meets yours. You just can't take your eyes off him. His carefree attitude, his relax complexion, and ever so brilliant eyes. Deep, ruby red eyes, like a never ending abyss, draw you in. The gaze is so soft, made by half-lid eyes, yet sharp and alerted. Looking at them makes you hear it, the sound of a deadly sword slicing through a velvet veil of satin. Those eyes are so familiar to you, yet you are quite sure you have never had the chance to see them before. He knows the gaze you are giving him. He smiles. Cold, distant yet pleasant, like a morning breeze. The crooked smile showing is just like a challenge. The boy's interest soon depletes. The young boy kicks some rocks out of the way while making his way home, leaving you with pursed lips and unanswered questions. The old man who is sitting next to you sneers, while you are murmuring:"It's him". Personality Looks are only skin deep, look beyond the flesh. Don't joke about his (feminine) name, or you'll receive a dagger right down your throat. Karnia doesn't back away from "challenge". His temper is high up in the air, threatening to spill over at any moment. Once his feathers are ruffled, you can't stop him by words alone. Violence is the answer. If not, you will receive sneaky punishments behind your back every single month until he is satisfied. The boy doesn't care about common sense, indifferently spilling rude remarks and shouting at people if he has the chance. That's not over, he likes to complain, a lot. He complains when the dishes break, when he accidentally trips over a "harmless" rock on the street, or just simply stutters gibberish. Things go out of his ways often, and when he doesn't get what he wants, Karnia goes on a rampage. Although the boy is quite observant and has a thirst for knowledge, Karnia looks like he never shares a single ray of interest to different things around him. The little Symenestra treats people with ice cold glance and is willing to dump a bucket of ice cold water to anyone who dares to come near him with a grin on their face. However, if you are close enough to him, he will be a stubborn shield that couldn't be penetrated. He is extremely protective and loyal to those whom he trusts, to the point of being totally biased (which he would never admit). Karnia usually carries himself with a no non-sense attitude. He is oblivious of the existence of jokes, and won't forgive lighthearted humor. Although he does understand sarcasm, he tends to ignore them with a snort. Being so bitter with life, the boy tends to shy away from people and avoid them on a daily basis. History No one knew about Karnia's origin. Some said that his parents couldn't raise him on their own, some said that it was an accident that had taken their life. All Karnia knew was, he was abandoned as a child. Life went on and his memories were blurred, so he could no longer tell when he was adopted by a middle age female Symenestra. The-sad-eyed-lady found the boy outside of her door one stormy night, and decided to keep him. She fed him and taught him how to fight to protect himself from danger. She named him once, but the little boy refused to acknowledge its existence. Karnia, for the first time, experienced warmth of a family. Adored by her adoptive mother, he thought he wanted nothing but the life he had at that time. However, his dream soon crumbled. His adoptive mother was too naive and fell victim to the hand of a travelling merchant. He claimed that she would have to be a slave for the rest of her life to compensate for the dept she owned him. The lady was terrified. The merchant, Corba was very wealthy and closely protected while she had sighed the paper which said that she had legally belonged to him. She begged for help and received none. She lived alone, with no relatives. The-sad-eyed-lady then remembered that she had another choice. She chose to sell her beloved Karnia to the merchant as a slave instead. Karnia was astonished with his adoptive mother, and before he could question her, he was dragged away to Ravok. Despaired of being abandoned for the second time, he vowed not to believe in others again. His life took a turn at that time. He was drown into work day and night without rest, with constant bullying from the merchant's daughter: Edanline. The merchant, Corba, mainly used him for stealing, acquiring information through rumors, or just simply stuffs around the house like cleaning. Corba also kept two kids around the boy's age who were to be beggars for him. Those two kids called the young boy: "Karnia". |
