Whatever magic was in Firenze's hands as they moved up and down her arms did seem to calm her as she swam. Firenze almost acted like a gentle mother, certainly not like Leeta's, but how she had always imagined a kind mother to be. She was teaching her to swim and was doing so gently. Leeta watched as Firenze looked out at the setting sun, the hazy clouds that lingered over the bay, caught red as if on fire. She wanted to look herself, seeing the colors of reds and purples on her face and in her eyes, but she was so fearful of what would happen if she did, that she locked her gaze upon her jaw.

Her main focus was to keep her head above the water, but avoiding the incoming small waves, and keeping her legs kicking all stole from it. Being distracted to look to the side was not an option. When Firenze looked back with a bright smile on her face, Leeta could obviously see how pretty her new friend was. Perhaps Leeta was envious, but ever feature, from her clothing to her body shape was something that she herself desired. The vibration of her kicking made it hard to focus and as soon as salt water would try to enter her mouth, she spit it back out back into the water. Firenze didn't have that problem, walking over the alien terrain beneath her feet. Her mouth was not resting near the surface, dealing so much with the waves.

Encouragement came from her new friend as she looked backward to her splashing feet. It was strange, as though she herself could feel some form of propulsion back there. Was she really doing it, or was Firenze mainly pulling her. Either way, the comment got a smile from Leeta, bright and big. As the wave came and she drew close to Firenze, it was like she was her mother, protecting her from the waves. Still, it was silly, so she slipped back down from her into the water. She began to stretch her legs out and to drift away from Firenze, but instead of finding support and her walking on the sand away from her like before, she found herself pulled close; too close in fact. Like a fish who was hit on the head with a spoon, she was stunned. Leeta's large eyes watched curiously as Firenze kissed her.

The feeling of her salty wet lips pressed against Firenze's and there it was, a light kiss. Churning boiling roils inside of her stomach flopped about, as did her limbs seeking the sand below. Quickly she separated from her swimming partner's lips and with a look half of disgust and surprise, her eyes sought answers.

"Wha...? Nooo no nono nonono no," she muttered out in confused form, shaking her head and pulling out of the grasp of Firenze. "I'm sorry. Um...That isn't....I mean." Her tongue flopped onto her lips that now tingled like they never had before. In her wildest romantic thoughts, this was never one of them. Pleadingly she flopped away from Firenze in the water, like a subject who had done evil in the sight of their king, hoping not to offend her company, but really having to leave.

"I'm just not like that!" She finally released from her small voice as though there was a roar of force behind it. Her own voice scared her and she covered her mouth. Now realizing she was half naked in front of someone who clearly didn't regard her as a sister, or even daughter, she ran. Ran to her clothes. It was clear that in no time she would be gone from beach, running, if not in terror.

The signs have been completely misinterpreted and it became apparent to Fire when Leeta had jumped back and looked at her. Disgust and surprise were very apparent in the other woman’s eyes and read very loud and clear. A tinge of confusion and hurt pinged in Fire’s chest, her brows knitting together trying to figure out where she went wrong with the situation. How she’d read it so wrong.

Leeta had pulled away, the cold water covering where warm hands had been on Fire’s skin. She tried to mutter a sorry and apologize for her actions but it had been too late as the she watched the dark hair moved quickly to the shore. Watched as the woman grabbed her clothes and fled.

Stark naked she stood in the water, confusion settling further in as she tried to piece together where she had misread the interaction between the two of them. She’d thought they’d been having fun and things had been going well. Running her hand through her tangled hair she sighed. Slowly feet dug into the wet sand underfoot and moved her body with the current. Walking onto the beach she sat for a moment on the rock they’d both sat on not even a bell prior waiting for her skin to dry. It didn’t bother her if anyone saw her, she was more turned in toward her thoughts wondering if she should’ve got on this outing and skipped the date she’d had planned.

Chewing on her lower lip, brow furrowed, she took it as another lesson in trying to seduce and flirt. It was rather apparent that females were more difficult than males. It could be that she was female too but for her it had never really bothered her so she’d always thought that other women thought the same way. It was clear that not everyone thought alike and it was helping to open her eyes to the world. She may have just lost a potential friend but she would be grateful that the woman taught her a lesson she’d never thought she’d learn, at least not in the way that it had happened. Not everyone was like her, not everyone thought the same way. Perhaps it could help her to better understand humans.
