Lynca From the tents of Benrid, of the sons of Malech. "No secret is too safe." Appearance Birth Date: Summer 47, 491 AV Race: Benshira Gender: Female Profession: Performer Fluent: Shiber Basic: Common Lynca is short with dark brown hair and vibrant green eyes. As is befitting any Benshira, Lynca has the customary tanned skin with dark brown hair and piercing eyes. As the third of six children, she is considered one of Benrid's loveliest - and shortest - daughters. Many have requested her hand, only to be warned away, as her purity in appearance does not represent her purity of spirit. Personality Likes: Discovering secrets, music Dislikes: Yahal, cold weather Ethics: Chaotic Neutral Lynca is curious, sociable, and intelligent. But she's also manipulative and flirty. Ever since Lynca was a little girl, she thrived off of tales of mystery her parents and other travelers would deign to tell. Whisperings and secrets always caught her ear more easily than her mother's commands. So when she wasn't learning songs to sing for her family, she was eavesdropping on the gossip and rumors that took up the space in their nomadic caravan. Lynca is not afraid to do more in her pursuit of secrets. She began learning hypnotism because the scandal behind it was just too intriguing. When she sets her eyes on a goal, a secret that she must know, she will not rest until that secret is hers. She cares very little for those who may be hurt along the way, though she will help others if she thinks they can help her on her quest for the next secret. The only one she cares for beyond that is her Kelvic bondmate, Charles. Though she is still learning to understand the bond they have, she cannot deny the love that she feels for the man and she will not allow anything to take him away from her. She has already sacrificed her family and her religion to keep him, and she is willing to sacrifice much more, if she must. History Lynca was born a daughter of Malech in Ekytol, but she's been disowned due to her bonding with the Kelvic Charles. She is determined to make something of her life that she'd never have if she gave up her desires and married. Lynca was born to the tent of Benrid, who is her great uncle, of the sons of Malech, known for their cleverness and cunning. Out of her parents' six children, she fits these qualities the best. While her older and younger siblings were devoted to their worship and their trades, Lynca was devoted to solving codes and drawing secrets out from others. She could get a decent deal on goods sold to the caravan, and she was always able to charm with her honeyed words, either through stories or songs. Because of her behavior, her parents were wary. They assumed she simply needed to devote herself more to Yahal, that she only had to spend more time praying and less time breaking codes. For the first few years of her teenage years, Lynca did try to please her parents and do what they wanted, but she found it detestable. How could she be happy if she was stuck doing what her parents demanded and not seeking out the next big secret? Her desires, more than anything, were what kept her from finding a suitor for so long. It wasn't until she was 23 that she agreed to marry a son of Eliada, and even then, she would only agree if her parents allowed her to practice magic from that month's visitor. The next one to keep her from marrying, and permanently, was a Kelvic by the name of Charles. Only weeks after her 24th birthday, Charles met up with their caravan only looking to trade some goods for some food and water more suitable for the summer heat. When Lynca looked at the man, she swore it was love at first sight. Charles, knowing it was the bond, stayed for several nights in the hopes of subtly convincing her to join him in his travels. Though Lynca was tempted, she knew she had obligations to marry, and tried to send him away when she realized his plan. She had never felt so terrified and thrilled at the same time as when Charles proclaimed, "You can't send me away, I'm bound to you. You send me away and I'll die from the grief." He then explained what he was, what a bond meant, and how important it was that he was able to make such a deep connection with her. So Lynca called off the wedding. Her family was enraged, as it meant a loss of face to the sons of Eliada. They spent a whole week yelling at her to marry, when she finally revealed that Charles and her were bondmates. To her family, it sounded as if she had already married the man, and not only was he a Ravka, but he was also an animistic Kelvic. In their eyes, Lynca had finally gone too far. They disowned her and told her she was to leave in the morning and never again show her face in Ekytol. In retaliation for their cold-hearted words, Lynca stole the rug weaved for the man she'd never marry. It was only fair that she was given moderate comfort if her family would be so close-minded. In addition, she took the things she'd need in order to travel and left with Charles during the night. Though Lynca behaves as if all this was no big deal, she still feels betrayed by her family and by Yahal. She was not a very devout woman, but her family's rejection took whatever faith she had left in the god. When she's not searching for secrets, she's searching for a deity to worship, as a way to retaliate against Yahal and his inability to soften her family's hearts. |
