Redd sat beside the barred window that allowed the sliver of the moon’s light into the room. Some might have found sitting in the dark to be frightening, however the young woman quite enjoyed it. The darkness was more or less her friend and she would have howled if she had been out and about, but she wasn’t alone and the people in the next room might complain about the howling. It was after all, night time and that was when most people slept, but Redd didn’t think that the dead walking men slept at all. While the day time was perfect to hunt with clear view, the kelvic preferred to hunt at night when it was much easier to hunt those that slept. The woman stretched out her left hand and watched as the soft and patchy moon light created a shadow of her hand. It was strange really and she questioned that shadow. She questioned if it was her physical shadow, or the shadow that reflected within. Was she still the shadow self of who she really wanted to be? Her hazel hue viewed the black sun upon the back of her pale hand and the corner of her lips turned downwards. Indeed, she really was still the shadow of her future self, for she was still the slave to Verin Rush. Soon, she thought to herself. Soon she will be free to do as she pleased.

It was during the not so cold winter that the wolf had become sold upon the idea that she could perhaps be free, but two seasons had passed and she was still a slave. Redd had no idea as to how to get out of Sahova. The wolf and Verin had gotten to Sahova by boat and she hadn’t even explored all of the island. How did one get off an island other than by boat? Her hand reached forward then to gently touch the bars of the window and her single hue noticed where her own index finger met with her own shadow. Indeed, she hadn’t given up yet, she just had to find a way to get off the island. Her finger slid down along the bar before her hand fell to her side, her single gaze moving to view the sliver of moon that shined high up in the sky. She was just about to move away from the window when she began to hear footsteps within the corridor and a frown creased her brow. It was mostly dead in Sahova, because its current occupants were dead and more focused on their work, whatever that was. No one told a slave anything.

More footsteps were heard and it seemed as if they were hurried, like someone was in a rush and the curiousity was eating at the kelvic. So, she moved away from the window that she stood at and took cautious steps towards the door. Her right hand reached forwards to grasp the door knob just as she heard another person rush passed and a soft growl rumbled to her lips. Something wasn’t right, there was far too much movement going on for the wolf and sudden alarm bells rang inside of her own mind. What was going on? She asked herself as she turned the knob to pull the door open just enough to peek her head outside of the room. As she did so, another person sporting hurried steps moved passed the door and she was taken a back as she followed the sight of the person’s back down the hallway. That was not the only person, there were also a couple of other people disappearing down the hallway. It had struck Redd as odd, due to the fact that they were carrying a bag or two.

Slowly, the young wolf made her way down the corridors and she pulled her black cloak closer to her form. Her single hue watched the forms that hurried down the hallway and a frown furrowed her brow as their footsteps did not awaken many others from their sleep. In fact, Redd was certain that the figures hurrying down the corridors of Sahova were those that did work for Sahova. Her right hand trailed along the wall, as her bare feet softly padded through the quarters, passing the many slumbering rooms. Her single hazel hue was particularly focused upon the back of a particular man, his black locks curled and brushed the back of his ears. The kelvic’s left hand moved to lift the hood of her cloak and bring it up over her brindled red locks, her hand kept a soft grasp upon the edge of the hood. More footsteps continued behind her, but only a few of them, it wasn’t as if everyone that were currently residing inside of Sahova were on the move, which is what the young wolf found so strange. Why were only certain members on the move? She silently questioned, but it didn’t come as a shock to her. Slaves were nothing to the people that resided here, so she didn’t think that many would take notice of her.

It was then when her footsteps took her out of the quarters and into the courtyard, where she followed the numerous figures that were making their way towards the docks. There a ship awaited them. The young wolf stopped moving, which caused her to have a rough hand push her to the side. Her feet stumbled for a brief moment and she reached a hand out to steady her movements. Once she was sure that her feet were firmly planted upon the ground, she straightened her form, so then her hazel hue could view the line of people boarding the ship. Why were they leaving? It was strange that they were leaving in a relatively calm and quiet manner. It was almost as if they were deserting the island. She angled her head to the right so then her single eye had a better view of the docks and the people that moved slowly towards the ship. Redd lifted her nose to draw in the scent of the people that were boarding the ship before she drew her attention away from them. The scent that she mostly picked up on were mostly those that were decaying, the scent of a body crumbling and dying.

Suddenly, a thought occurred to the wolf and she look back towards the courtyard of Sahova, where beyond that, her master Verin rested in the Quarters. The ship could take her off of the island, it would take her far from Verin’s reach, from Ravok’s reach. She looked down to view the mark, the tattoo that reflected her slave status. The kelvic held no love for Verin, for she was more or less her prisoner until Miro came back. However, Miro wasn’t even really her real master, no, it was Elias. However, Redd wanted her freedom, she wanted her own will back, to do what she wanted to do, no matter if it meant being alone. She looked to the ship and felt a sudden shred of hope, was this the moment? Was this the moment that she would break free of her slavery bonds? Suddenly, the ship seemed like her shining beacon of hope and she found herself moving into the line of people, to stand just behind the man that she had followed out of the quarters.

Redd waited, as the line slowly progressed and people got aboard the ship. It was a slow line and the young wolf wasn’t sure if that was because someone’s leg had fallen off or not, but she just wished that the line would go faster. She wanted off the island and out of Verin’s reach, to be free. The young wolf could already imagine as to what she would do the moment that she got off the ship and that would be to kill a normal animal. To chew and rip and feed off the flesh and entrails and to taste the fresh blood that would splash upon her tongue. Redd had gotten lost inside her own at that moment with her own day dream and her own hopes. That was until a hand fell upon her shoulder and her forward progress was stopped. “And who are you?” Questioned the man that was standing at the front of the line.

The young wolf wanted to turn tail and run, but she knew that the man was the only thing that was standing between her and freedom. Cautiously, she looked up, her single eye wide with what appeared to be fright at having been addressed. Her hands though, tucked into the edges of her cloak, she didn’t want him to know that they were still and calm. “I..I’m a slave for my m..m..master that you just allowed on board the ship.” She stuttered as she attempted to appear as a bumbling slave that wasn’t used to being talked to. Which wasn’t entirely untrue, she was used to not being addressed at all. However, it had come as a surprise that she had been addressed right then. The man reached out and took her by the chin, his rough grip angled her head to the left and the man disappeared from her sight. “Huh, you’re an unlucky one. Alrighty, off you go.”

As soon as the man’s hand let go of her chin, Redd walked forwards quickly without questioning what the man had said. All she knew, was that she wasn’t stopping for no one anymore. She was safely on the ship and now she was on her way to freedom. The young wolf walked over the deck to stand at the railing, her hands lightly rested upon it as she looked over the water. Soon, she would be sailing over that water to new places. Freedom! She had wanted it for quite some time. Perhaps she might even find a new wolf pack again, she could hunt again with a pack. Although if she had been smiling, it would have slowly died, for Verin came to her mind once more. She was leaving him, even though he hadn’t exactly laid a hand on her.

She lifted her right hand to gently grasp at the edge of her hood and a frown creased her forehead, she felt some-what guilty, but he wouldn’t give her what she wanted. Redd owed the man, but hopefully with what she had earned for him, it was enough. Now, she wanted to simply escape Ravok and Sahova, escape their rules and do what she wanted to do. To address her wants and her needs. Perhaps… She might even find her own place where she could call it home. A sigh fell upon her lips as she shook her head, what was she thinking? There was no way that she would find somewhere to call home. However, at least she would no longer be serving someone else. Now she had her freedom to look forward to, which was something that she was never going to give up, at least not without a fight.
