87 of Fall, Year 510 AV

Eden walked along the docks, wondering what to do with himself now that he didn't have a master to serve. It felt odd, yet exciting now that he was free, he could do just about anything he wanted.

As he walked, he looked up at the clouds, which were small little wisps, hardly visible in the big, bright blue sky, and then at the various sailors, merchants, and fisherman who were unloading their cargo, or their latest catch, depending on their profession. Eden smiled, I bet one of them would love to have me to serve them, he thought to himself. But the smile was short-lived, when he realized a part of him wished one of them would take him home with them.

Although it was a nuisance at times, it felt right to him when he had someone to serve. Eden sighed. Maybe a long hunt would help clear his mind.

Iris was walking along the docks, humming a simple tune to herself. She didn't know where she had heard it, but it seemed familiar to her.

Iris listened to the sound of the seagulls flying overhead, and various sea-faring merchants and fisherman shouting orders at each other, and generally working. She spotted a few that were taking a rest behind a large stack of crates, but she ignored it, after all, was it truly her place to say anything?

Their weren't many people on the docks, other than the merchants and fisherman today, and Iris found this rather odd. Usually, there were a few more people walking around at this time of day, and just as she thought this, she walked straight into a rather tall man with brown cat-like eyes, and a shaved-looking head. "I'm so sorry," she cried, as the two of them stumbled into each other.

"I didn't mean to walk into you... I'm so clumsy sometimes... my head always up in the clouds." Iris sighed heavily. "I really need to pay a little more attention to where I'm going." Iris smiled up at the man, hoping that would alleviate any of the pain and embarrassment he may be feeling right now.

Just as he was walking along, a tall girl, with long blonde hair and black eyes bumped into him. He staggered back a little, placing his hand on his chin. Wow, that hurt, a lot more than expected, Eden thought to himself as the girl said, "I'm so sorry." There was a short pause before she continued speaking, ""I didn't mean to walk into you... I'm so clumsy sometimes... my head always up in the clouds... I really need to pay a little more attention to where I'm going."

Eden's irritation was boiling over, his hands became fists. Can't people watch where they're going? he wondered, just as the girl flashed him a beautiful smile, and his heart skipped a few beats, damn, she's hot. He felt his palms sweat, and although he had been angry and frustrated a moment before, he found that he wasn't anymore. In fact, he was HAPPY he had run into her. It had been a long time since he'd seen a female, especially a pretty one.

Eden reached his arms out to help steady her, "don't worry about it, it happens," he said in a gruff voice, before flashing a cocky smile. "I'm Eden, what's your name?"

He reached his arms out to help steady her, "don't worry about it, it happens," he said in a gruff voice, before flashing a cocky smile. "I'm Eden, what's your name?" he asked her.

Iris blushed. "Iris," she said simply. "It's nice to meet you," she said as she squeezed her eyes shut quickly and flashed a smile. Then she opened her eyes again.

Eden was still standing there, really tall, dark and handsome? Iris wasn't sure what she was feeling, but her stomach felt like it had butterflies fluttering around inside, and others bursting free of their cocoons and spreading their dripping-wet wings for the first time. Her heart felt like it was beating outside of her chest, and she knew that her cheeks weren't as pale as usual, in fact, they were probably a pale pink, maybe even a bright one. Her breathing came in unevenly as well, was she nervous? Iris wasn't absolutely certain, but she didn't think so, Eden had seemed not to care that she ran into him. In fact, he responded well, even reaching out to steady her. So then, what on earth was this feeling?

"Iris, it's nice to meet you," the girl said before flashing him another one of her radiant smiles. Man, she's pretty he thought, as a clump rose in his throat and lodged itself there. His palms were sweaty. Why am I nervous? he wondered. It's just a girl, ok, a really pretty one, but still.

Eden looked down at Iris, he towered over her. "So what you doing here on the docks?" he asked her before looking down at the ground, absent-mindedly swiping his foot against it.

"So what you doing here on the docks?" Eden asked her.

"I was just out for a walk," Iris began, it's such a nice day, isn't it?" she continued, without waiting for his response.

The sun was beating down on the two of them, and the seagulls were calling to each other overhead, "they look so small down there, don't they?" they kept saying back and forth in a cluster. Another cluster was eyeing a stack of fish a fisherman had just pulled in and was saying, "mine! mine! mine!" Iris didn't know what kind of fish they were, and she didn't really care, she wasn't a big fish fan. What she did know, however, is not all of them were dead considering they were flopping around on deck, or in their nets, or wherever they were, and they really really smelled bad. Iris scrunched up her nose in disgust.

"My that smells awful," Iris said, gesturing over to the fish. "Want to walk somewhere else with me?" she asked Eden, as she looked away in the other direction, as if saying, why don't we go and talk over there?

"Want to walk somewhere else with me?" Iris asked as Eden scanned the area with his big eyes, and got a good whiff of the fish as well. They smelled awful, but were sure to taste good and fill his belly.

Deciding that he'd be nice today, and wouldn't steal a few, as much as he would like to, he decided to take Iris up on her offer. "Alright," he replied, and started to march in the other direction, he thought he might no somewhere where they could have some peace and quiet, after all, he had been living in the city for a decent amount of time, he should know a thing or two by now. Right?

"Alright," he said, as he started to walk away. Iris followed him, wondering where the two of them were going, not having been that way before. All she really knew of the place was that there was some sort of school, the tavern was gross and an annoying place to be if you were female, and there were lots of docks. Lots and lots of docks with smelly fish and loud, obnoxious sailors and the like.

Iris had a hard time keeping up with Eden. He was taller, and had longer legs, and was faster than she, she always seemed to be a couple good paces behind him. "Would you mind slowing down a bit?" she called to him, hoping that he may actually hear her. He seemed so distant and faraway.

"Would you mind slowing down a bit?" Iris called after him. Eden stopped mid-stride, and looked over his shoulder at Iris. She was several paces behind him, and obviously struggling to keep up. Silly girl, he thought to himself.

"Don't take too long!" he called to her as he waited farther along on the dock. "Daylight's a' wasting," he said, as Iris kept getting closer and closer. Her eyes seemed angry to him, dark, mysterious clouds. But he wasn't sure, he imagined she was the kind of person who always looked scary and ominous because of those eyes. Eden shrugged, hopefully she wasn't angry. After all, it could be something he said.

"Don't take too long!" Eden called to her as he waited farther along on the dock. "Daylight's a' wasting," he said. Iris broke into a short sprint so that she could get to him faster. Probably shouldn't keep him waiting too long she thought. When she was standing beside him once more, she said, "lead on," wondering how much farther they were going to go until they got to their destination. If he even had a destination in mind, or was simply hoping he'd get lucky and find a relatively peaceful place for the two of them to talk.

The seagulls that were flying overhead were still saying mine! mine! mine! A few of them so bold, that they were diving into the fishermen's nets, trying to steal some of the day's catch. Silly things, she thought to herself.

Realizing that she hadn't asked yet, she asked, "so what are you doing out here on the docks?"
