16th of Fall, 515 AV
The tiny bug crawled across the ground as fast as its legs could carry it. The bug had been travelling all day long; it had gone over rocks, waded through puddles, and trekked through hollow logs. It had seen the sun rise that morning, and it had weathered the heat of a Fall afternoon. It was mere feet from its destination now- just in time for the sunset. The bug stopped for a moment to watch the golden-orange glow fade as it dropped behind the mountains. But this was its fatal mistake.
For no sooner had the bug stopped crawling than Revali scooped the beetle up in his long claws and popped it into his mouth, relishing the crunch of fresh food. He felt no remorse, for this was simply how life went.
How he would come to regret that way of thinking, he had no idea.
But for now, he was perfectly content to watch the sun set behind the mountains and crunch his bugs. He stood tall on his back feet, his front claws resting against his belly, and his narrow shoulders slumping carelessly. He appeared entirely at ease. And indeed he was. He had had a good day out scouting the land. Tomorrow, he would map it out. Then, he would sell his maps to the Knighthood, and hopefully earn enough Mizas to buy some new drawing supplies. The prospect of the drawing supplies to come made him very excited, and so for the moment, he was content.
In fact, Revali felt so comfortable, that he found himself settling down onto the ground in preparation for a nap. A short one, he reminded himself, even though he knew deep down that it would not be short at all.
He lay his head upon the dirt of the woodsy floor, snuggling his head in so that he had a flat spot to lay. The rest of his body followed suit, flopping down into the dirt and flattening an area for him to lay. It was all quite nice, and combined with his full belly, it did not take long at all for Revali to slip into dreams.
