Minnim was not one for glitz.

He enjoyed muted colors, like grays and tans, and the occasional pastel pink or periwinkle. He appreciated neither glitter nor neon nor polka-dots. These preferences were reflected in his weaving. He used soft colors, and warm colors, and deep colors of yarn, but never anything distracting or particularly eye-catching. But when he saw the gold ribbon at the markets and heard of the low price, and perhaps most influential, saw the attractive woman selling them, he was suddenly not at all opposed to gaudy things, and ended up buying a handful.

This was no problem, except that he now had to use these ribbons.

As Minnim made his way home, he tried his hardest to think of what he could do with the ribbon. Perhaps he could use it as tassels on a rug? Ah, but tassels would snag and unravel the whole thing. They were simply not practical. He could use it as an embellishment along the edges of a blanket, but the ribbon was not comfortable. In fact, it was downright itchy and would not give the person a good night's sleep at all. Even used as a bow on gifts, the golden threads seemed too much.

Minnim sighed loudly as he flung open his door. He shuffled over to the table and placed his purchase on it. He stared at it for a moment, as though it might transform itself into something less hideous if he glared long enough. He had no such luck. Instead, the light coming through the still-open door reflected off of the shimmering material and lit up the ceiling.

Minnim looked up at the lights on the ceiling and huffed once again. What was he going to do with this? The man shook his head and kicked at the ground. He could simply burn it, but what a waste that would be. Surely there was something else...

So, exploring had been a huge no. To be honest it started out okay until she tired and hadn’t found her voice enough to ask for help in finding the inn. Vainly she had looked at her scroll and the so called map. How did they believe squiggly lines looked like anything! Growing more distressed and agitated she came upon an idea that had her almost clapping as she stood in the middle of the street. She had wings; she could just fly and look for the place! This was a great idea, until she looked down at her arms to her things but once more wings were the answer!

People bustled about talking, shouting, battering and exclaiming training and matches, animals for sale and at one point she saw a Yowlwing trotting beside a woman whose hair was so many colors she had no name to call them all! The city was bustling and alive, and she watched them all with silted pupils in bright pink feline eyes. She had changed in a quiet area, her clothes and doll shoved into her bag where she simply lifted it up and now it sat beside her on dome roof of a shading area in one of the many gardens inside the large city. Pleased as she could be Lilun took the time to groom her fur only for a sparkle of something to catch her eyes.

She paused, tongue poised in the fur across her chest as she watched with widening pupils; a dancing gold light. Ears moving forward she edged across the roof her belly close to the building as she could get away with. She did not know that she had stumbled into private homes which is why the sound of the sellers had faded so much. Her worry over her possessions faded somewhat knowing they would be safe as none could see them, and all her attention was focused on the glitter. She reached the edge and still did not see what made the light and so jumping her wings snapped open so she would glide and not fall like any ordinary feline would. Then she passed where the glitter came from and abruptly dropped to the ground soundlessly on padded feet.

An open door, she noted absently but before she could think of this she was already slinking forward pupils blown nearly masking the pink of her gaze. Long tail giving a little flick at the tip and her whiskers fanning as each step carried her closer and finally into the home. She didn’t see the person; didn’t even smell them as she hurried to the table and abruptly stood on two legs to peer across its surface. There to her great delight was the shiny. Her tail shook in a furious wave and within seconds Lilun pulled herself up in a boneless like movement onto the table top and snagged the ribbon. She really hadn’t thought anything through at all; nothing of why a ribbon would on a table and what it would mean that she just grabbed it.

So pleased with the shiny thing and so happy to have found it she purred and rolled tossing the ribbon to a fro before her brain caught what her nose was screaming at her; not alone! Freezing while on her back, rear legs vainly trying to kick the ribbon while said cloth was in her mouth, Lilun turned and stared at a man not just in the room but a scant width from her! All pleasure of her find flew and for a moment or so she couldn’t move save a slow flicking of her tail. In an explosion of motion cats were prone to do; she spat a hiss her fur all standing on end as she twisted and tried to not just jump but open her wings to escape through the door. Tried was the term used as her happily found glitter now wrapped around her slim form even going so far as trapping one of her wings so she did nothing but flounder there on the table.

Ribbon Dance

Minnim had stepped back from the table for mere ticks- just to go put down his backpack and take off his boots- and this is what he comes back to? A Yowlwing, rolling about on the floor, tangled in his brand new ribbon and likely ruining it with its claws.

Minnim scowled at it.

What a beast.

Even though it was soft-looking, and its white fur was perfectly groomed, and its adorable eyes were wide open with the excitement of a new plaything, it was still ruining his ribbon, and still thieving from him, so it could not be tolerated no matter how cute it was. Period.

Inwardly, Minnim wanted to bend the his own moral rules for the kitten. She looked so content, and he really wasn't going to use the ribbon anyway. But it was the principle of the matter, and so, Minnim knelt down beside the Yowlwing, intent on retrieving his prize.

However, Minnim was inexperienced with animals, and had not the faintest idea of what to do. He had never had a pet, in all his 400-some years, and stayed away from wild creatures as much as possible. When he had encountered animals in the past, he had always been able to either scare them away, or kill them. But for this one, neither seemed appropriate.

Its claws looked sharp, and he certainly did not want to be its target. He reached tentatively for the animal, hand closed in a fist so that it would not be able to shred his fingers to bits. Grumbling under his breath, he tried his best to coax the creature to open its mouth.

"Come on, Cat. Open your mouth. That's my ribbon you're eating. I want it back."

Ribbon Dance

Liluns ears flattened, her pupils blown as her excitement of play stayed with her. That was until the man’s hand drew near her and her brain finally caught something tiny her nose had been trying to tell her. Dead thing, rotting thing and it was the man. Soon she was growling and her fur bristling, she started struggling further to be rid of the ribbon so that she could run. He called her to open her mouth and she did so only to twist and yank to try and get it off and avoid the hand reaching out.

Spitting she hissed and tried in vain to swat the hand. Pink eyes and red pupil hadn’t once looked from the man as fear made her mouth open to pant. Dead, it was dead or had rolled in something dead and humans didn’t do that unless they had gone mad! Her struggling did very little to make the ribbon let her go and in the end Lilun was force to stop moving as stress was making her body heat up and her heart pound. So maybe she was cat enough to be killed for her curiosity after all.

She tried to shift and all she got was a sharp pain. The ribbon wrapped around a wing keeping it open, another part was around her chest, her back left leg was wrapped around so tightly it hurt now and the ribbon around her neck was like a collar. Trapped with the dead thing, to be eaten or killed; to be a rotting thing to roll in! She shivered, the tiny action wracking her whole body even as her pink tongue still fell from her mouth in pants. Gods but if they were watching, she really hoped one of them would be taking pity on her right now. She didn’t think she had done anything worse than killing rabbits and fish to eat.

Eyeing the man, she wondered why he smelled like death and rot. He looked human and humans didn’t do much with dead things, which was a dogs happy past time. So this left few things, it was mad and collected dead things. It killed so often the smell was stuck on him, or it was a dead walking human that could talk.
