Ready for Adventure (Blythe)

(87th Night of Winter)

The little Kelvic has made it to the city and has noticed a strange decrease in the warmth of the air, but spending most of her nights just flying around, Keyta has found herself strolling through the city this night looking for anyone that might want to have some fun. Since Keyta can’t seem to stay awake during sunlight, she doesn’t see too many people in the moon lit nights, and she finds herself spending several hours staring at the sky again, studying the stars above like she use to do in her hometown. Laying on the ground on the edge of the city, Keyta stares into the sky, finding some of the stars familiar, but so many new stars that she had never noticed before. The little Kelvic looked into her bag to see how much food she has left from the travels before, and is disappointed to only find three remaining fruits, one of them being the fruit that has her name scribbled on it. Keyta grabs a grapefruit and places her orange back in her bag, only then feeling another cold rush of air cross the lands. With a shiver, Keyta gets up and starts walking around, eating her grapefruit, and starts trying to find a way to stay warm, something told her this was only the beginning of the coldness.

Blythe couldn't sleep. She felt a little tired, but for whatever reason, she couldn't get comfortable enough, and her mind wouldn't stop running. It kept hounding her with the lines of poems- which she should probably write down, of course, that was difficult now that it was too dark to really see what you were doing. It kept reminding her of things she had to accomplish in the morning- the laundry, getting more food for the house, another few vases and bowls to paint for Briar and Mist, but Mist specifically said to only use shades of red on hers. It was maddening, the way Blythe's head seemed to never stop.

Getting up slowly, Blythe decided to take a walk, maybe that would help to clear her mind. Blythe rubbed her eyes, trying to clear them, her vision was a little blurry, but they soon adjusted to the night well enough.

Blythe walked outside into the night. The first thing that hit her was how cold it was. Blythe shivered, deciding she may need something warmer, she went back inside, and grabbed a cloak, wrapping it tightly around her before heading outside again. It was still chilly. But better now. Her breath turned to a white mist in the cold night air.

Not really knowing where she wanted to go, simply knowing she wanted to walk to help clear her mind, Blythe moved forward. Walking past other people's homes, but never another Konti.

Blythe stopped to look up at the stars for a moment. They were shining brightly, little beacons of light that reminded her of candles in a dark room. She didn't know if any constellations were present in the sky today, she didn't need to to be able to admire them. Taking them all in, standing still long enough for the cold to seep into her bones, she shivered again, before deciding to move on. At which time, she convinced herself, she saw a shadow. It was moving, and more than likely, not her own.

Keyta stopped in her tracks, she heard the wind blow which made something flutter in front of her, this was a person from the size of it, and it just startled her for a moment. She swallowed the food in her mouth and opened it for a moment to use her echolocation to see if she could better tell who was in front of her. An extremely high pitched squeak flew through the night sky, hitting everything in front of the small Kelvic, revealing the entire layout of the street she about to travel down. Sure enough, a few meters down, there was a small figure, not the average human size, but just a little smaller, like the pale girls that seem to live in this land. Keyta opened her eyes to see if she could make out the face of this figure or not, but it was too far away. She figured that if someone was on such a beautiful island that they couldn’t be dangerous, so with a hyper step, Keyta began running quietly toward the new figure, hoping to see who this rare person is that is awake during her hour. Her anxiousness couldn’t be stopped, her foot steps were slightly heavier than they usually, which was enough to make the streets of this city echo with each step.

Blythe was certain that there were footsteps echoing through the streets. She was surprised to find that someone other than herself may be awake at such a late hour. Her body tensed as she listened to the footsteps. They seemed to be thundering; echoing faster and faster, coming closer and closer. She wondered if the figure planned on hurting her, if they were male or female. She guessed female, knowing that predominately, it was her Konti sisters that inhabited the island, and not many others. But then again, how could she be certain? Especially at this late hour?

"Hello?" Blythe called into the night, her voice wavering a bit with trepidation. Blythe couldn't say why she was scared exactly, especially when there was so little on the island that one truly had to fear. Bad things never seemed to happen. They did, but so rarely, they could essentially be disregarded. "Who's there?' Blythe called into the night, wondering why she hadn't yet received any sort of answer, which only made her wonder if she had grown so tired that she had begun to imagine things.

OOCSorry this took sooooooo long to reply to! *Kindly requests for your forgiveness*

Keyta heard this person calling out, and it was a female voice that she seemed to remember but couldn't put a name with. The Kelvic ran faster and faster, hoping to see this person sooner than later. So many questions began to run through her head, questions like who this person was, why they were awake, and she even began to wonder what type of person this was. Keyta came up to a corner and planted her foot to quickly make this turn and without any time to react, found the person she had been looking for, and ran right into her. Keyta flipped over and landed on her head up against a wall. The little girl fell over and slowly got back up to rub her head and wipe away a tear that had fallen from her eye. She tried to look back up at the person she had run into but the pain was distracting and the tears were building.

The footsteps got louder and louder, and then came to a grinding halt when whoever had been doing all the running crashed into her. Blythe's legs buckled at the knees, and the top half of her body began to sink. Finally losing her balance, Blythe crashed into the ground, butt first. The ground was cold, much like her body, which only accentuated the growing level of pain that was coursing through her veins. Starting in her legs and ending in the far reaches of her brain, the area that was tucked just behind her ears.

Startled, Blythe looked all around her, wondering who had crashed into her. She ran her right hand through her hair, and closed her eyes, wincing in pain. Sometimes she felt far too delicate for such a hostile world, but what could she do? She doubted she would truly toughen up anytime soon. Finally, Blythe opened her eyes, she thought she saw a shadow, over in the corners closest to the wall of one of the buildings that lined the street. "Hello there!" Blythe called, before she slowly got to her feet. "Are you hurt?" she asked, wondering if the fall had done more damage to the other person than herself. She knew she would more than likely have a small, dark purple bruise in the morning, but hopefully, not much more than that. "Do you need any help getting up?" Blythe continued, "I can't see very well, but if you say something, I should be able to follow your voice to you, and help you up."

Keyta again recognized this voice, but just couldn't seem to remember, she used her knees to start slowly moving out of the shadows and into the moon light. She was also hoping to see her face but stopped when her head started to throb in pain and she quick grabbed her head and held it tight, trying to make sure it didn't split open. Keyta looked up once more and finally managed to see the lady's face, she remembered the face, but couldn't remember her name, but this was the lady that she met on her first day here on Konti Island.

Ready for Adventure (Blythe)

Postby Blythe on February 20th, 2011, 3:12 am

As soon as the girl had stepped into the moonlight, Blythe recognized her. It was the little girl she had met late last fall with Nari and Dicae. The girl with short red hair, light skin, and honey-colored eyes. Someone Blythe vaguely recalled not having spoken at all, which made her wonder if the tiny being could speak. She wondered if the Keyta could even understand her. Blythe realized that this must have been the person she ran into before.

Smiling, she called out to her, "hello again, it's good to see you. It's been a while, hasn't it?" she asked, as she tilted her head to the side and took a few steps closer to her. "I hope you remember me, I'm Blythe... we met at Nari's picnic during the fall. How have you been since then, and what have you been up to? Staying out of trouble I hope," Blythe giggled, vaguely recalling how the girl had run across Nari's garden naked during their first encounter.

"I hope I didn't hurt you before... it's nearly impossible to see at this time of night," Blythe added, as though giving an explanation for what had just occurred. "Although the stars are rather pretty," she said, as she glanced up at the sky, noticing how each star seemed to smile down upon them. "Sometimes it's nice to come out here just so you can look at them, especially when you can't seem to sleep." Blythe turned back to Keyta again, "is that why you're out here? You can't sleep? Or do you not have a place to call your own?" Blythe asked, hoping she wasn't being too bold.

Ready for Adventure (Blythe)

Postby Keyta on February 20th, 2011, 4:19 am

"I hope you remember me, I'm Blythe... we met at Nari's picnic during the fall." That was it! Blythe was the name of this woman and she did have some fruit to eat with her and Nari. It seems to have been a long time since they had last met and Keyta was happy to see such a familiar face again.

"I hope I didn't hurt you before... it's nearly impossible to see at this time of night." Impossible to see? The moon was high and the sky was clear, it may be slightly cold but it wasn't even foggy out yet. It seemed rather odd that someone wouldn't be able to see at this time of the day. Then Blythe said, "Although the stars are rather pretty." The stars were always great, Keyta looked straight up to admire the stars once again, almost in a trance like state at the appearance of the twinkling stars. "Sometimes it's nice to come out here just so you can look at them, especially when you can't seem to sleep," said Blythe in the middle of Keyta's trance. Why would someone be sleeping during the stars, they are so beautiful, she couldn't see why someone would know about them and not actually stay up for them. "Is that why you're out here? You can't sleep? Or do you not have a place to call your own?" Keyta simply looked at her and shook her head side to side slowly and then gave her an expersion of confusion and tilted her head slightly to the right. The small Kelvic tried to remember where she was sleeping the last few days but got turned around when she tumbled over Blythe earlier. Keyta continued to think but then realized she got thristy and pulled out her waterskin, sat down, and started to drink her fresh water.

Ready for Adventure (Blythe)

"I guess that means you're thirsty," Blythe said with a small giggle. "It is a drier night than usual, so it's not too surprising that you're that thirsty," Blythe commented, trying to fill the silence that surrounded them. She wondered why the girl wasn't speaking. Was she ignoring her? Did Keyta find Blythe boring? Blythe wondered as she ran her hand through her hair. It had grown out quite a bit since she had gone on call, and was a few inches longer than she normally kept it. She'd have to remember to get it cut soon, she thought, as she returned to her attempts at engaging the girl in a conversation.

"So, you don't have anywhere around here to back to?" Blythe asked. "A bed? A cottage? A warm place to sleep? Somewhere other than under the stars?" Blythe paused for a moment. "Don't you have a family? Perhaps a friend or something? Even a roommate?" Blythe asked, as she stared at the silent girl, a look of sheer desperation upon her face. Why in all of Mizahar wasn't this girl speaking? Blythe wondered as she tried one last time to engage her. "If you have nowhere else to go, you're welcome to come home with me if you'd like. There's plenty of space on the floor, and we could probably pick up a few more pieces of fruit along the way if you'd like." Blythe paused for a moment, trying to remember her last encounter with the girl, and as much as she possibly could about her. "You'd probably like that," Blythe added, nervously awaiting an answer, and growing steadily more and more nervous and frustrated herself and the girl.

Why was she trying so hard? And why wasn't she receiving an answer? What in Avalis' name was she doing wrong?
