Throm 'The Scarred Beast'

Appearance

Race: Kelvin
Gender: Male
Age: 10
Birthday: 12th, Winter, 505.
Birthplace: Sunberth

Appearance:
Throm is a huge man standing at 6’7” with the heavy build of a person who has spent his life in constant labor and combat. He is pale skinned, but covered in dark hair. He is blessed with a permanent sweater, which he only attempts to control by occasionally shaving his head and face. However, his body is also a network of scars: scars from fights, scars from beatings and the scars one picks up from a life of hard labor. His hands are big enough to palm the heads of most men and are covered in hardened callouses. His muscles bulge out of an already large frame and pulse with veins when he is running warm, which is pretty much always. He has the physical presence to make an arena seem like an intimate meeting place. Up close, he is no less off putting with dark eyes that appear to be almost entirely pupil.

As a bear, Throm can stand at 8’5” tall with a thick coat of dark fur. He is mostly silent with large padded paws and a general lack of theatrical roaring. As a bear, he weighs around 800lbs and can run at about 30 miles per hour. The scar tissue that mars his human frame is carried over to his bear form, which shows through in missing patches of fur.

Character Concept

Throm is a man raised on simple concepts who is trying to expand himself and his world to something greater. Violence, control and obedience were what he was raised on, but his bondmate, Ren, taught him that there is a lot more to the world. Now he is struggling to be an individual and have his own drive, and he plans to start by righting what he sees as an obvious wrong: slavery. While he is still sad and mourning the loss of his bondmate, he is attempting to channel that energy to make a change. Even on the path to change, however, some things remain the same, like his methods. Throm has few skills other than what he was taught in life, which was mostly violence and how to inflict it on others. Still, baby steps.

His Kelvin instincts have always made him especially obedient and servile, which his master freely used to manipulate him. However, after the loss of Ren, he has made a promise to himself that he will not serve anyone else. He’s still working on this. Occasionally catching himself cleaning up after others or doing as someone asks without question.

Throm doesn’t have a temper so much as he has a rage. For a long time there was just the bear trapped in a man’s body, but even after he developed human traits and got a bit of education the bear was still there. His rage doesn’t ride close to the surface, but if he feels the need to protect himself or others he cares about or if someone digs too deep, then the bear emerges. Either in the fur or contained in the flesh, but neither will end well.

His bondmate taught him the value of kindness and the joy of taking care of another. While he is still a hard man on the outside, he has a soft spot for those that seem to need kindness and care. He is redirecting his instinct to serve a master to serving the downtrodden.

Character History

Born into slavery from parents who were also slaves, then torn from his parents and sold to the man who would be his master for the next ten years. Throm isn’t even sure if that is his real name. He doesn’t know if he was bred to be Kelvin, or if that was just a bonus to his owner. However, it was what had him taken from his parents and sold only a short period after his birth. A little baby who could turn into a bear cub was worth a whole lot more than another mouth to feed.
Throm’s new owner, Master Corvenas, was a human, although only in the technical definition. He saw Throm as a potential gold mine and used and manipulated him in every way he could think. As a very young child he was treated as something of a sideshow to Master Corvenas’ main events. Come see the baby, no the bear cub, no the baby! As he grew, and it certainly didn’t take long, he was expected to serve as a servant and was introduced to the basic training of the fighting arena. It was shortly after this that he was collared to prevent anymore shifting incidents.

Once he was near fully grown and around two years old, he began to work more as a body guard for Master Corvenas. He was still regularly fighting in the arena in legal or illegal bouts as a man and a bear depending on what the show was. This was life: violence and obedience, and he was good at it. Although he had collected a lot of scars to get there, hence his nickname, The Scarred Beast. It wasn’t long before his master started using him as a breeding stud as well. Giving other slavers and the like the opportunity to have their women impregnated with a valuable Kelvin. He never saw the women before or after the coupling though.

Master Corvenas was always very careful to keep Throm from bonding with anyone. He was kept with the other slaves and fighters and they were encouraged to keep their distance. This was successful until Throm was nearly ten years old, then a new face showed up in the slave pen. New faces were not exceptional considering their average lifespan, but Throm thought that this one was. He had heard of men being interested in each other and even knew some of them pleased each other in the bunks at night, but he had never had any sort of draw to another man.

Ren was a human of mixed blood who had been a stonemason and teacher in his previous life. Before debt had caught up to him and he had been taken himself as a slave. He had been a bit surprised when the largest and most intimidating of his new bunkmates had offered his own bed and then curled up at the foot. It wasn’t long before they were fast friends with Throm protecting and teaching Ren how to survive in the slave fights and Ren teaching Throm about the outside world. The feeling of caring for and being cared for was completely alien to Throm, but he treasured it. It was the first time in his life that he was happy on his own and not just because of what he did for someone else.

Master Corvenas saw the bond that had formed of course, and he couldn’t have his best attraction getting distracted by some useless arena fodder. When he decided that it had gone on long enough and didn’t appear to be ending on its own, he arranged a fight for Ren. Well, he arranged a slaughter for Ren. One of the last fights of the day, after most of the crowds had dwindled. His opponent was a competitor’s slave who was making a name for himself as a speedy performer who didn’t often leave an adversary alive. Throm knew when it happened. That section of his heart that he hadn’t even been aware of his bondmate filling was suddenly empty.

Afterwards, he wasn’t sure how many of his fellow slaves he had killed before he got out of the pen, and he regretted that. He knew how he had gotten out. He and Ren had been working at that for several weeks planning their escape. He knew he had killed the man still in the arena. He knew he had killed Master Corvenas. And he knew he had killed every other spectator and guard who couldn’t escape him. But he didn’t know how many innocent slaves he had killed, and he regretted that. That and that he couldn’t take Ren’s body with him. He looted the bodies and made a swift exit before law and order could show, since he’d already served justice.

Hello there, there are unfortunately some grievous errors you must fix before you can continue roleplaying.

  • Your CS title must only be your name, please remove the 'The Scarred beast' portion can only have Tukant or Common as a Fluent language, please select which one and the other can be placed at Basic or Poor.
  • The race is Kelvic, not Kelvin. Please fix these errors throughout.
  • Also, you are a born an animal. You ARE an animal first and foremost, a human secondary. Kelvics are NEVER human first. It was brought to my attention that yes you can be born as a human. Slip up of the mind.
  • How did Thromm come to learn Fratava? Please make this known in your history as Fratava is the language of the Svefra.
  • Sword Fighting is not a skill, you are looking for a Weapon() skill and must list what kind of Sword you are skilled in.
  • It is required to list all Starting Points (SP) and Racial Bonus (RB) in your skills, please do so.
  • In your possessions it is not necessary to add description to the simple stuff, it is not needed.
  • You must attached your CS to your profile, please let me know if you need help with this.

Once you have fixed these, please click the little envelope below my name and let me know.

Which way do you want to go? Up or Down?

Attention Players, Graders, and Storytellers:

A character sheet does not require the green checkmark for the player to roleplay. This is just a notification to all that the character sheet has passed through the Liaisons thorough checklist and meets Mizahar standards.

All sheets with a large red X or a speech bubble beside their thread title do not recieve grades and cannot continue threads they are currently involved in until all issues have been fixed and verified.
