The skies overcast with a thick blanket of white. And soft small flakes of the sky’s untainted purity had begun to fall. A thick layer of snow already covered the streets of Syliras.as the snows silently floated down from up high. Chilled winds blew lazily, occasionally. Almost as if they didn’t want too. The ait hung still and chilled. Alex however had made a pathway through the snow as he plunged his greaved feet through it. Cursing the chilling cold of the snow with each step. Gods above why does it have to be so cold? Shuddering with each step he marched through the streets to the one place he knew would be warm only to find it jam packed with patrons of all varieties. Cursing the snows he instead chose to head outside the city for a little bit.

He needed to clear his head. He’d been studying too much and the training had battered his body to the point where it was finally starting to harden in reaction to the continual blows against him. Outside the city was a slow and light breeze. Still frigid in the winds but nothing that he wasn’t used too by this point in his life. He leant against the stone walls at the outside of the city. His hand fishing into his chest plate briefly as he finally grabbed a hold of the icons around his neck.

He would have gone to the temple but at this time of day it was jam packed to the brim with all manner of people praying for this that and the other. Alex liked his silence when he spoke to the gods. Hoping to get a reply. Not to say “yes you can have this” but a little acknowledgement that they were happy with what he was doing. He lifted the sigils and began to flip through a prayer of thanks to each one of them his eyes closed until he finished them loop. A solid two chimes of time passed with his eyes closesd. However when he opened them he spotted a cloaked figure heading off out of the city. One that looked a little more hurried than he was used too.

“Hold sir.” Alex spoke in his soft tone. A lightness to it that was unfitting of a knight or a squire. “I don’t believe I’ve seen you around here before. And I’m curious as to where you’re headed in such a hurry.” The shifting of his plate and the blowing of the wind produced an odd and weary notice of scratching metal. As Alex took a step towards the cloaked figure.

Light snows, Long words. (Irathia)

Postby Irathia on January 17th, 2016, 4:15 am

Irathia, walked through the cold streets of the city. She looked from side to side, not bothering to enter any open buildings are attempting to head back to the dormitories. She crossed her eyes as a snow flake lazily drifted onto her nose. She smiled, small things like this she enjoyed immensely. Irathia continued to walk forward, lost in thought.

I wonder if I will become a knight. Why would a monster like me be allowed to be a knight? Then again, I was accepted to become a squire.. Irathia thought, watching small snow flakes fall from the cloud covered sky. So cold... She thought, she tightened her cloak around her.

Irathia continued to walk, kicking a bit of snow as she was lost in thought. She noticed how she tends to do that a lot more, ever sense she first escaped Xy. Irathia shook her head and started to head towards the city exit.

"Hold sir." Irathia paused in place, the voice ripping her from thought. "I don't believe I've seen you around here before. And I'm curious as to where you're headed in such a hurry."

No, no you haven't seen me.Irathia thought, I haven't seen you either. She pushed some of her hair out of her face and turned slightly, enough to reveal that she was in fact, a woman, not a man. "I am... Walking..." She mumbled to the stranger, not sure what to say, like usual. She stared at the man... "Does it... Matter?" She said. It probably does, why can't I just talk! Irathia was screaming at her self inside her mind, but on the out side her face was a blank mask, like she was uninterested and bored.

The figure stalled in it’s motions. Almost as if by speaking Alex had thrown a rock at the figures head. A slow turn as she moved to glance at him. The dirty blond length of hair on Alex’s head blew with the wind. As the figure turned it became apparent that he was speaking to a woman. Thick black hairs pushed from her face. A calm almost bored look adorning her features. Almost like she didn’t want to be bothered. Her coice of words however were calculated. Distanced. Three words across a four tick span. And three more across another three ticks.

She was just walking…That was apparent enough. Alex stepped a little closer closing the distance between them from twenty feet down to just ten. Did it matter? Possibly. Everything mattered. “Whether it matters or not isn’t really the problem here. And I apologize madam for calling you sir it’s just hard to tell with cloaks quite that thick.” A small smile fell across his face. Honesty in the apology. He could almost feel her eyes trying to look through him. Like he wasn’t even really there. Or at least wishing he wasn’t.

“Miss mind if I ask your name. As I’ve said you don’t seem too familiar to me and the guards at the gates didn’t even attempt to stop you.” Alex now crossed his arms infront of him the metal of his plate screeching as it scraped against itself. The damned dents in it were doing him no favours ion looking either intimidating OR friendly. Alex shifted his weight back. His weapons over him but mostly as he’d come from a good solid mornings training. And then it clicked.
She wasn’t bored. She was just trying to do what he did, put on a mask to the world and show nothing to anyone. Hide everything from everyone. What exactly she was hiding he didn’t know as he had his own secrets that he’d rather not have let the world know. "Also miss you still havent answered my first question. Where are you headed?"

Light snows, Long words. (Irathia)

"Irathia..." She said, a small smile formed on her face as it became apparent that the man in front of her was struggling with his armor slightly. "Mythrin." She said, a small shrug following it in close position. Irathia enjoyed the company of this person, he was trying to put on a mask as well. "I come in and out." Irathia said, she fully turned to face the man. Her cloak wrapped around her body concealed most of her figure all but her boots, which seem worn.

I guess my cloak does make me look like a man... What ever, I like it. Irathia thought, she smiled at her self as she looked over her body. This time her teeth were revealed, they were pointed. I wonder what his name is. Though I don't imagine seeing him all that much... Irathia kept on thinking, she appeared to get drawn out, like she was not paying attention.

"Is that all?" Irathia asked. She quickly got rid of her smile and her face went blank once more. This time she was actually a tiny bit bored and wanted to get to Mythrin. I wouldn't mind talking to him more... He seems interesting. She thought.

Apparently the woman’s name was Irathia. An odd name but one that didn’t strike him as being too odd. After all he’d met some strange named people over his years. His face began to contort from a small look of inquisition to one of curiosity and confusion. She was headed to the Mythrin outpost? What exactly could she want out there? Then he caught sight of her teeth as she smiled Pointed but not entirely, rounded tips if still sharper than most would have had. He then closed the gap between them to a mere five feet now standing almost a full head taller than her. And then the curt reply of was it all he wanted. Not quite.

“Well if you’ve business out down the, Mythran way. Please allow me to escort you. I have business down that way too and it’s not in my nature to let someone travel alone.” A small smile appeared across him again. I might actually get her to start telling me what she’s actually doing if I head off with her. And I’ve still got to go and fully check out the Mythran outpost. Keeping his eyes on her he watched her for any sign of something out of the ordinary. A thick heavy cloak could hide all manner of things. Gods above only knew what.

“So Irathia. I’ve not seen you around here. Do you live out in that way? Or do you live within the city and are just heading out for some reason?” Alex then started to head off in the direction of the outpost. Hoping he’d go with her. And then paused for a moment. “I still haven’t introduced myself yet have I. My name is Alexander Faircroft. Squire under Ser Greyheart. Pleasure to meet you Irathia.” A small shift in the tone of the conversation had taken place. He’d grown a little more suspicious of her and what she intended to do. Mostly because she spoke in such small sentences it was hard to get a positive read on her.

Light snows, Long words. (Irathia)

Irathia stared at the man as he talked, did she really need an escort? I mean it wouldn't hurt to have some company... Plus it is extra protection... "You can be my escort." She said. "I live in the squire dormitories but I don't hang around there often." Irathia shrugged, not sure what to do now. "Your a squire as well?" She asked, already knowing the answer.

Irathia hasn't traveled with other people in a while, unless it was with her Patron. She wasn't sure how to exactly feel about this, considering it was with some random person she hasn't met till this day. "If you don't mind I will be keeping my cloak on." She said, as she turned preparing to walk with the man.

A strange lull has settled over the conversation between the two. A light snowfall tumbling from the sky with a softer sway. Both he and her paused for a moment in the snows. Just waiting for her reply. The wind whistled and Alex could almost feel the ice building up on the chain beneath his plate. A long heave of breath escaped him turning to frost steam near instantly. She was allowing him to be his escort…How gracious of her. The words kind of felt like they’d been used as an intentional stab at his side. But what followed next surprised him a little. She was a squire too. It was more than possible he just hadn’t run across her in the dorms. It was a big area after all. Her following question seemed like less of a question and more of a jibe. Or was he just reading into things a little too much. Given the situation with her trying not to show anything of an expression. It seemed like that might have been the case. “Yes. I’m a squire and I do not recall seeing you around the dormitories.”

He’d meant it as less of a interrogatory quip but still he looked her over and then she spoke something which kind of took him off guard. She’d be keeping her cloak on? Well yes given the temperatures it’d be kind of maddening to strip the cloak. A look of confusion and chaos now flashed across his eyes. “Well…I’d kind of expect you to keep the cloak on given the weather. It’d make little to no sense to remove it.” A strange look crossed him now as he focused on her a little better.

Walking alongside her towards the Mythran outpost he couldn’t quite shake the feeling of him missing something. “So then. Who’s your patron?” He spoke softly even with the lightness of it given the silence of the surrounding area he figured it’d be a good chance to speak without having to rasie his voice to be heard. “And why exactly are you keeping so quiet?” As Alex spoke he pulled up the hood of his leather armour which he worse beneath all of the plate and chain, as another layer to keep warm. Slipping the hood over his head most of his face now lie in darkness only from the tip of his nose down was now fully visible.

Light snows, Long words. (Irathia)

Postby Irathia on January 18th, 2016, 12:19 am

Irathia clenched her jaw, "I live at the dormitories, I did not say that I stay there, I sleep for a tiny bit, then I am off to work. Simple." She frowned as she said that. "I am quite because I choose to." She said, increasing the volume as she said choose. "My experience in life has shown to keep quite and do what you are told." She said. Irathia picked up the pace, for some reason, she was feeling angry...

What should I do... I feel like I am being interrogated. I felt like I wouldn't be interrogated anymore after I left, but her I am! Being interrogated. Irathia thought, a frown growing on her face. She rubbed a scar where she was flayed for stealing a peace of bread for a fellow slave. Why wouldn't they? he probably thinks I am a murder, a complete monster on the inside. He is true, I am a monster. It is only natural that I am being the treated the way I am...

She gave a big sigh, Damned cloak... Irathia opened up her cloak a bit to let cool air in, she felt a bit to hot under the cloak and her being angry just mad her uncomfortable. The sound of crunching snow, a usual comfort, seemed to be failing as she kept swirling into the abyss of thoughts, memories of being a slave and similar men treating her like trash. Irathia ran a hand through her hair, getting it out of the way from her eyes as he just walked. Not bothering to talk anymore to the man.

"I do not choose to act this way, not to spite or to hide, but to survive. You have no clue what I have done, and I do not blame you. I may just be a puddle of pity but that does not mean I have to be a common bar maid and talk all the way to the out post." Irathia said, not looking at Alex. Her voice continuing to be calm, while on the inside, behind the mask that she calls her face she is enraged. Why.. Am I doing this? This is going against everything, everything that I feel is right... Irathia thought, she let her emotions slip a bit and now she felt odd, like weight is gone or something. Attempting to regain composure, she ran a hand through her hair and gave a big sigh, letting all the anger out in the visible puff of air emerging as she exhaled.

An odd tone was creeping over the conversation. She did live at the dormitories just like he did but possibly in a separate wing like he’d thought. And she was quiet because she chose to be? True that may have been the case but Alex was more about stealth in actions than actual quietness of speech. Heck he was already quiet enough in his usual voice. Her experience in life told her to keep quiet and do as she was told? Just how many years had she been a squire? That one sentence had pretty much summed up his entire last sixty days. He sighed a little walking alongside her hunched a little lower. His feet sinking into the snow a good five inches. Sending a deep chill up his spine. Whilst looking across she’d only sunk two with each step. They were almost the same height right now.

“Sorry to hear about that. I’ve got a little experience with being told what to do and being quiet myself.” He offered a small smile of apology. A small frown met him as she shifted her hands beneath her cloak a little. Not sure why he kept walking alongside her, as the cloak cracked open a little letting a burst of cold air in. Perhaps a cloak that thick was a big hindrance as well?

Her voice continued to carry, a strain of anger tinged the edge of each word. He had no idea what she’d done? What she had to do to survive. Alex sighed lightly letting her follow through with her words. A puddle of pity. Perhaps she was so quiet not because she wanted to be. But because she had to be. Alex sighed slightly and let his shoulders droop a little. Looking ahead at the outlying snows and seeing just how far they’d come from the city. It suddenly hit him. They were going to travel all this distance on foot? In almost knee high snow. In winter. “Irathia, I think it might be best if we head back to the city. It’s not quite safe enough out in the wilds anyway. Let alone in this much snow at this time of year.” Alex turned back hoping she would follow as a blast of cold wind smacked him square in the face.

“You may not choose to act that way, but you can choose to not act that way.” He smirked starting to trudge back to the city. Knowing full well he wasn’t going to get too far through snow that high without a horse. At the very least. “Sometimes. Not talking is for the best. I’m just curious is all.” He stepped back through the snows heading back towards town. Hoping if she had any sense she’d follow.

Light snows, Long words. (Irathia)

Postby Irathia on January 18th, 2016, 2:02 am

Irathia nodded and followed Alex, staying close to him. "You know... You are the first one I have ever... Acted that way towards." Irathia thread, rubbing the back of her head. "Sorry I sort of freaked out..." Irathia said, she smiled, it wasn't much but it was a smile. "You know where I was before Syrilas,if I talk that way I would have been whipped, or put into a small box." She said. Her smile faded a tiny bit as she felt it was okay to open up with this man a bit.

Irathia smiled as she picked up some of the snow and pressed it together, hearing the crunching as she put her ear next to it. She tossed it away from her as she continued to walk. "It's just hard, sometimes. Then again pretty much everyone has it hard... Maybe not nobles or anything but still, at one point people have hard times." Irathia said, just thinking out loud now. "Though compared to where I was, this is like I died and went to some sort of Haven. It is... Something to awe I guess." Irathia shrugged as she looked at her feet, the mask she wore completely melted off.

He probably doesn't care.. Why would anyone care about I have to say? A voice said deep in the back of Irathia's mind. You are a abomination, they should have killed you when you were born. This isn't sanctuary, this is just a new situation with a new coat of paint on it. Irathia thought... She shook her head.

"Anyways, while we are still talking to each other, anything you care to tell me about your self?" Irathia asked, she asked with a small smile forming. "Also... I guess... Thank you, like I said you were the first person... I guess I opened up to..." Irathia said, staring at the falling snow.
