The steady beat of hooves on Earth were the only thing keeping Io from going insane. The sun was obnoxiously bright- was it always like this in the middle of the day?- and she was exhausted, not to mention she could hear the chaos of the city already. Her instincts told her this was an awful idea, and it truly was, but she had grown bored, and of course acted on impulse. For a clever person she really could be stupid. At least, Io thought so. But she had spent too much time pacing outside of her tent to not do anything. Something new, something adventurous was desperately needed. Though cleaning up her tent and packing it up was an adventure and a feat in itself. Now she could see the city off in the distance. Her horse was growing slower, his hooves dragging a bit more. She gently pet his neck, commiserating with her companion. Theo, the small black mouse that often traveled with her was asleep beneath her hood, a top her head. She could feel and hear the little creature's heart beat and it soothed some of the anxiety that began to build the closer and closer to the city they were.
Eventually Io entered the city, no longer having her horse's hoof beats to keep her company as she had left him tied up a ways away in caution, but now she was greeted with commotion and noise all about. It was a bit like being hungover in the middle of a rock concert, and for the young Kelvic, it was almost hellish. Io realized her mistake as she was bumped around in the crowds and she quickly writhed her way from the busiest area, a panicked look setting into her eyes and her heart racing. She desperately wanted to shift now, it would be safer, she could escape quicker, but she knew better. Shifting in the middle of a human city into a predator was not the best idea. Still, Io continued to run, frightened and startled until she rammed straight into something, or rather, as she looked up, someone.
