The Conclave

Endrykas is a very loosely governed place. Each ankal is responsible for his family and each clan is responsible for its own. These are just guidelines, of course, the only thing that truly remains concrete are the seven laws. These are never negotiable and while the ankals may decide guilt in a matter, judgment is generally left to the Anchor of Gold. The Conclave meets regularly but it’s mostly to posture, drink and talk trade. Certain circumstances that involve the whole of the city such as food shortages, attacks from invaders and other large scale incidents are the reasons the leadership is necessary. These men assemble, decide on a course of action and then spread it to their clan so that the Drykas act as a single force to overcome what has put them at odds.

The Seven Laws

  • Windmarks are earned, not owed. Full clan status is awarded to only those individuals who have earned their Windmarks. And as such, those bearing windmarks will be welcomed, protected, and provided for by the pavilions and thus the clans. Those without windmarks have no status and are owed nothing by either pavilion or clan.
  • All Drykas will work equally hard in their areas of expertise to provide for the benefit and security of all.
  • Strider horses are sacred. To harm or abuse a strider is as serious as harming the clansman who's bonded to it. Cruelty towards a horse is grounds for exile - on foot.
  • The clan is sacred. Obedience is due to its Ankal. All Drykas will be there when the clan needs them.
  • Dignity is sacred. When a fellow Drykas is wounded or incapacitated beyond recovery, the clansman must be ready to assist them towards reincarnation and a better, stronger, younger form.
  • Respect and defer to the word of your Ankal. Infighting will not be tolerated. All disputes should be taken to the Ankal who will facilitate or negotiate a resolution. The Ankal's word on all disputes is final.
  • The Web is sacred. No Drykas will alter it maliciously or instruct a non-Drykas as to its usage. All Pavilions are responsible for sharing equally in its upkeep and maintenance.

The Conclave is comprised of a few key players from each clan. These are individuals who have large pavilions, wealth, influence, position or any combination of resources that place them a bit above their peers. These are often men who have exceptional skills and are used within their individual clans as the voice of judgement. Many disputes never make it to the Ankals’ tent as some refer to it. Each clan has a singular representative that is chosen by popular vote within the clans. Very rarely has there ever been a dispute over this since each representative takes a few other ankals as seconds. The chosen representatives for each clan house their pavilions in the large camps closest to the center of Endrykas. If there is ever a conflict between pavilions that cannot be resolved internally, these trusted and skilled individuals are sought after for guidance and ultimately a solution.

Current Leadership

    Image

Amethyst – Quar’he Starhammer – Quar is a powerful man in all things physical. His rule has never been challenged and he has never failed on a hunt. He is loud and hot-headed but overall reasonable. His main downfall is that out of all of the chosen Ankals, his pavilion is the smallest which weakens his influence. However, Quar is still a force to be reckoned with when his mind is set.

    Image

Diamond – Cyrus Windreaver – Cyrus is Syeth. He acts as the liaison between the Watch and the clans. He is also ankal of the third largest pavilion and one of the deadliest men to ever ride a horse. He is rarely challenged in the open. Those who disagree tend to do so with kind words and fancy prose. Cyrus’ does have a temper and when he gets mad, he has problems articulating. This makes for some interesting discussions

    Image

Emerald – Eli Grassmane – Ankal of the largest pavilion, his word tends to sway any stragglers. Eli is a Drykas through and through and is known for his benevolence, reason and adherence to the culture of the horse lords. He is rarely ever anything but even keel and presides over the meetings.

    Image

Opal - Thomas Heartsong – This man is always pleading for the case of others. He embodies his family name to the letter and inspires people with his honest words and strong emotions. It’s not uncommon for Thomas to cry when he’s moved by a situation. On top of running a very successful pavilion, he also helps guide and instruct the healing facilities through difficult times whether it be a staffing or financial issue. However, the gentle nature he so proudly wears will often cause him to be overshadowed in debates.

    Image

Ruby – Pratal Turningleaf - He is a weasel amongst the horses; a shrewd negotiator, schemer and politician. He views his gift of order and discipline to be a waste on the horse clans as they do not listen. He has proven his success time and again, though his methods are sometimes questionable. There is nothing he won’t do to make himself look good as long as his hands remain clean. The Turningleaf pavilion is the second largest in all of Endrykas and rivals on being the most lucrative.

Sapphire – Sorrel Rainmirror – The youngest of the bunch, he has to fight for every ounce of respect that he is shown but little by little that amount grows. Quiet and calm, Sorrel is a master web mage. He has patience for days. He rarely speaks but when he does, everyone listens.

    Image
Topaz – Harper Burninghand – Since Jonas Proudsun left after the sanctioned murder of his sun, the Topaz clan has been in turmoil. A third of the clan left with its patriarch which created a void in leadership. Harper Burninghand reluctantly took up the mantle as clan leader. His pavilion doubled in size during recent events which has lead him into a windfall of prosperity. It is for this reason that the Topaz elders encouraged him to take up the seat in the Conclave. New to the game of politics, Harper is a wildcard in discussions and debates because he is brutally honest. Many view it as a step in the right direction but not everyone.

Player NoteNone of these NPCs may be used without ST permission. If you have a plot that could use a member of the Conclave, PM Meadow with the details.
