Appearance Race: Akalak
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Birthday: 22 Spring 489 AV
Birthplace: Riverfell
Appearance: Ihsgar, as with most Akalak, has blue skin, but of a lighter cobalt shade. His hair is mainly black, but has a shock of white at the back, due to the awakening of his darker brother when he was fifteen. He keeps it quite long, as it goes to about his shoulders. He has no facial hair and his body is clean shaven, while his eyes are a pale icy blue. Others often see Ihsgar as a distant or cold because his gaze is unfocused. There is a scar on the left side of his face, just under his eye. Due to the discipline of the Akalak culture, Ihsgar is well built and fit, being just above average height. However, in comparison to other members of his race, he is thin and lanky. The clothing that Ihsgar wears is very simple, with loose brown trousers and occasionally a jacket of the same cloth if it's cold.
Character Concept Like all other Akalak, Ihsgar has a dark brother that shadows his light. However, unlike most others who learned to control and balance both sides, Ihsgar can struggle with his dark side, due to its manifestation at a later age. As he approaches adulthood, Ihsgar has spent much time trying to bring his life back to equilibrium. While his light side is in control, he is quiet and thoughtful, often spending time thinking. This is contrary to the typical warrior-centric, battle-loving mentality of the Akalak, which Ihsgar bears some resentment towards. This is because he doesn't fit into the society the way that others do; instead, Ihsgar prefers to focus on his mind and, as a result, is very intelligent. However, he is still capable of fighting, usually seeking to restrain or knock out without causing serious damage, and avoiding fights where possible.
Character History The Akalak place value on family prestige, and Ihsgar's family is fairly high up, but not of an elite rank. The family is quite large and the current patriarch is Ihsgar's grandfather. His father has one brother, as does Ihsgar himself. The family is quite close and treat each other well, but still encourages the members to aim high. Ihsgar's younger brother, Dysomal, is the perfect athlete and warrior, and as such is highly praised by his parents. Ihsgar's parents still love him, but more out of duty than because of true care. Ihsgar is very close to his grandfather, who is much more understanding of Ihsgar and much wiser about the world.
When Ihsgar reached the age of fifteen, he had to go through the Rite of Trial, as did all young boys. At this time, he had not yet manifested his dark brother, and he was much more cheerful, being very playful and participating in the typical activities of young Akalak boys. When it came to the trial itself, he was put into a group of four boys, with one of his closest friends. They set out fearlessly, searching for a Glassbeak to hunt. However, when they engaged it in combat, with Ihsgar in front, he collapsed to the ground, clutching his head - his darker brother was emerging, somewhat violently. The terrifying Glassbeak began to ravage Ihsgar's convulsing body, until the other boys fought it off. They continued to fight, defending Ihsgar, and they brought the predator down, in a mess of blood and plumage. Before they set off again, the four of them swore never to speak of it again, and then entered Riverfell as victors. Because Ihsgar had the most wounds, people (and his family especially) were amazed and hailed him as a great warrior. However, from then on Ihsgar became more of a recluse and lost his childlike enthusiasm.
As he grew older still, Ihsgar realised that he would have to go through the Rite of Passage. Though he despised it, he and his grandfather both agreed that he would have to go through it, to learn the Akalak ways and be accepted into the society - even if he did not accept it. Therefore, for now, Ihsgar is training to prepare himself for the trial. Flux has always been an object of fascination for him, as he has hopes that it can help him control his darker brother. He is also learning the basics of weaponsmithing so that he can forge his own Lakan, which he is looking forward to.
