3rd of Summer, 516 AV, 18th bell

Cosimia brushed a lock of thin black hair behind her horns and sighed. It had been a long day at the orphanage. The children had behaved, sure, but it had been so tiring with all the work she had to do- cleaning and cooking and tending to the booboos. She may have been exhausted at the end of the day, but it was rewarding work, and she felt good about what she had done. She felt as though she could fall into bed and sleep peacefully, with a quiet, sound conscious.

That is, if she could find her room.

With the twists and turns of Alvadas, it was not unusual for Cosimia to get lost. There had been many times she had wandered for hours and never reached the place she had intended to go to. The city liked to play games that way. However, this was not usually the case in the Cubacious Inn. Her room key had a certain pull, almost magnetic, that led her towards her room and got her in the door each night. But today, it seemed to tug her deeper and deeper into the building with no end in sight. She walked for what seemed like bells, trudging through the halls on her aching feet, before she stopped to lean against a wall. How much farther could it be?

She turned the key over in her hands, feeling the bumps and curves of the metal. Is it even the right key?

Concerned, Cosimia glanced around, looking for someone- anyone- who could help her find her room. But she could find no exit. There were only a few rooms ahead of her, each of which had an entryway of a different color. They ranged from a dusty rose to a hto pink, but none matched the soft blue of Cosimia's door. So, she ventured a little ways down, picked a door at random, and promptly knocked.

"Hello? Is anyone in there? I am looking for my room and I cannot find it."

Garden Path Sentences

Calder was laying on his bed bored out of his mind yet feeling unwearied, not feeling any fatigue, or need to sleep. He felt irritated by his inability to sleep, and have a good night sleep, embracing his sweet dreams, but sadly it seemed that the Inou, or something was preventing him from doing so. The young boy decided he could not sleep, he did not feel tired, or rested just felt bored with energy coursing through his body, energy unspent. Now that he had thought of it , it seemed he had done very little today, if anything at all as a result he felt unrested ,bored ,and most of all desiring something interesting fun to happen.

"It seems Inou The Trickster God has nothing for me today". He muttered under his breath bored, thinking of something to do until, Calder decided to practice his skills at acting a bit just for something to do even if it is a bit tedious. Lifting himself from his bed the light colored brunet walked towards his a nearby mirror. He wasn’t distracted by the constant movement of the room due to the building, no in fact he even welcomed it, his body language spoke of aloof, and boredom.

Calder face had a frown which spoke of bored with a bit of coldness to it, his emerald eyes glistering in the darkness of his room. His arms were moving with what could be described as carelessness as he laid his finger on the switch near the mirror, and flicked it on. The lights turned on ,and he observed his reflection on the mirror, his face was still elegant same as always , but his hair was a bit ruffed up due to him not seeing the point in combing it late at night when he was about to sleep. Calder attempted to fake a smiled as the frown on his face turned up, and he opened his lips a bit showing some teeth, but not too much, but not too little either.

If he showed too much teeth it would make it look like he was bearing fangs like a wolf, not being friendly, and genuine at all instead it would have looked fake, and a number of other negative things. He heard a voice from outside asking for help. It sounded like a woman’s voice, a smirk spread acrossed, Calder face the boy had found something potentially interesting to maybe lighten up his otherwise dull day. He grabbed a jacket laying near on a chair which was brown in color. The jacket was of a shade of black color for the most part, but its collar had a shade of brown. He wore it, but did not choose to wear a tee shirt revealing his athletic body. This was not due to the fact that he hoped to score with the woman outside not at all, it was just because he felt like it.

He could make an excuse easily if it came up. Now having worn his clothing, he calmly walked towards the door, shifting his body posture to a more confident one. Calder stood up more upright, putting his chest out, but not too much, and keeping his chin up. He moved his arms a bit back, but more up to make him, however he relaxed his arms a bit so he would not look tense, or intimidating.

The women had a bit of black, and green hair, she was obviously lost probably couldn’t find her room after all it was not very uncommon here. He spoke in a self-confident voice asking the lady politely in a formal tone which was a bit friendly “Hello lady you to be a bit lost, perhaps I can help you find your room, or perhaps we could accompany me, and talk a bit If you could spare the time, as I am rather bored, and you do seem like you would make a pleasant companion"? Calder was experimenting on different ways to be charming, and currently he phrased that question to see if this way of talking seemed charming to a person, or not. Behind his confident facade, he was carefully watching her so he could analyze her response, and see if his experiment worked, or not.

Note. I am experimenting with expressions, and metaphors a bit, tell me if anything confuses you. Also Calder in character is still experimenting on his skill. Right now he is trying to pull off a gentlemen border aristocratic type of charm.

Garden Path Sentences

Even though she had been calling for help, the man's voice startled her. She jumped slightly, her head snapping towards the sound and her heart beating loudly. However, it was not quite shock that had her speechless.

The man's skin was bared on his chest, though he didn't seem to notice. His small smile and relaxed frame showed off in a cool and easy manner. But his words were not so easy. He seemed slightly uptight, his vocabulary somewhat strained, or reaching. Nevertheless, he seemed kind enough, so Cosimia took a step closer.

"Yes, someone to walk with would be nice," She agreed, "Seeing as it may be morning before I ever get home."

Cosimia leaned one way, then the other, glancing up and down the hall attempting to discern which direction she had come from. Unable to recognize any of the decor, Cosimia shrugged, and chose a path at random. Hopefully, there was soms internal compass leading her the right way. As she began walking, she also started talking, hardly bothering to check if her companion had followed. If he had not, she would ramble to herself- it was of no issue to her. She only wanted to get out her thoughts.

"Now, I like to believe that every person has a great amount of good inside them. Some days the bad may overcome but it is most often easy to give way to the light. Gods, I am not so sure. Are Gods so human, as to have that same balance? It feels some days as though Ionu is the kindest God, and other days the cruelest. And though I adore Leth, he too has dark moments, where I begin to doubt."

The girl shook her head, reaching a hand into her pocket to fondle the moonstone she kept there. She glanced up, throwing a quick apology to her God. Of course, I would never abandon You, no matter, Leth.

Garden Path Sentences

Calder was listening very closely in the conversation. After all this girl was talking about her religious, and ethical beliefs, because to most people their religious ,and ethical beliefs are something from upbringing ,and are therefore a very fundamental part of themselves. One could even say it is part of their personality, part of their identity, hence he was very carefully listening to her ..., cold reading her for any important aspects of her personality, like her likes, or dislikes, hints of fears, and secrets.

At the initial conversation with her, she struck Calder as a nice person ,who is either naive ,or idealistic, probably a bit of both due to the part of her sentence describing how "good" a person could be ,that they had a lot of good in them ,and a little evil. She also was religiously devout, or at least was at the higher end of the religious scale, but is the type that has some underlying doubt of the Gods, maybe she acknowledges that may not. "Now in order to charm her kindly show interest in her religious belief, and say something idealistic". “ Wait, I don’t know her name, and I didn't introduce myself".
He noticed that she was fondling a pendant of some short of stone with a while color. Calder kindly asked genuinely interested” And who is this God Leth”?

Note: Sorry for the short post, after taking a while, but this is icly all my character would do in that situation. Also anything in Italic type of format are my character thoughts.

When Cosimia looked back at the man, she appeared almost surprised at his voice, as if she had already forgotten he was there. But this surprise was quickly diminished when she heard his question of Leth.

"Leth..." She began slowly, gently. What could one say about their world, when asked so briefly? "Leth is my God. He stands for the moon, and night, and all such things that are dark but not evil. He also stands for change, like the phases of the moon, reflection, and deep thought. He is kind and yet he knows how it feels to be dark, and lost. He understands." Cosimia stopped in her tracks, turning around to face the man, all thought of finding her home lost in her one-track mind.

"It is not just that Leth is my God, though. I am an Ethaefal, which means I was once celestial. Until I fell. But Leth does not forsake His children for their falling. He blesses me. I am here to spread His word, and remind those who are in the darkness that they are not fallen to evil, and that they can follow the path of the moon."

She held out her hands, smiling like a child receiving a gift. "And here I am, doing just that. What a beautiful thought, yes?" Her hands fell to her sides, and she paused a moment, thinking. "If you do not know Leth, is there another you follow? Syna, perhaps?"

It did not for a second cross her mind that this quiet man may not follow a God. In her mind, a God was the pinnacle of existence, because for her, it was. From the holy symbol around her neck, to the moonstone in her pocket, she lived for Leth, and was reminded of it every night when she looked into the mirror, and saw the horns and shimmering beauty he had gifted her with.
