Appearance: Marcus Chandara stands at a firm 5 foot 11, with a build that suggests natural strength from everyday tasks. A tall face consists of strong accents in both jaw and facial feature. His thin, green eyes are keen on keeping watch, and a frown usually lines his face. Long, curly, soot black hair falls past his shoulders, and, when in public, is held back with a leather tie. While not toned to extreme standards, he's strong enough to hold his own, and can last longer than most in fights, should he be involved.
Character ConceptMarcus didn't always approach things with as much enthusiasm as others. While showing interests in things that caught his eye, Marcus remained mostly neutral in response. The only things that would seem to create a different reaction were things that would often seem insignificant to others. Otherwise, his response would be less than expected, and more factual than opinionated. He does enjoy the little things, however, and finds joy in their simple supplication.
On the other end, Marcus has no time for arguments and fights, big or small. In all honesty, he'd rather avoid them altogether. When he becomes involved, his neutral attitude turns stoic and disappointed. Usually the one to break up the fight, he lacks in finesse when portraying his feelings on the issue. When confronted personally, he simply explains that he hates it. He would rather see two men walk out the door healthy than one dead and the other injured, should it have come to that. Unfortunately, this upfront attitude doesn't win over friends and tends to make for uncomfortable situations.
Character HistoryGrowing up as the oldest son of a fisherman and a florist, Marcus' life contained very simple means and a routine lifestyle. His father, Amos Chandara, was an honest man with a healthy respect both for and from his community. His mother, Kira Chandara, was a softer spoken individual, and married his father after his continual insistence. As he grew, he was taught to expect nothing unless obtained by his own means. It wasn't until he was caught in the act of stealing that his father reworded the meaning of his statement. He grew nonetheless, helping his father and mother with things around the house and putting his best efforts forward. To his parent's surprise, he matured quite quickly, despite not going through what many children of his age did.
Six years after Marcus came his younger brother, Locke, and Marcus could have never shown a stronger affection for his sibling. As tight a brotherly love could ever be, Locke grew to be more soft spoken, like his mother, while Marcus became outspoken as his father. It was this dramatic opposite that let them work together well, becoming a force of their own as they grew in the world. While life was well and good and little problem came their way, they still had their incidents and issues, arguments and problems, just as any family would.
Years would pass and they would grow, becoming men of their own stride and independent in their own will. When of age, Locke joined a caravan to Riverfall as a Vintner, saying his teary goodbyes and wishing them well on their way. Marcus did not have as clear a passion as his younger brother, and found difficulty with keeping jobs. Jumping from one to another, it wasn't until he left the Old Quarter that he found solid work and good pay. Now residing in West Street, he's continued living his life as plainly and simply as possible up to this point.
