Not all grass is made the same. The rolling steppes of Cyphrus would, to the unpractised eye, look like a vast swathe of greenery, all of it grass and all of it the same. Yet as most Drykas knew this was not the case. Grasses came in all different varieties, some long and thin, wavering about tremulously. Others were thick, hardy, stout- able to withstand the most brutal of foes. They brushed the soil of Cyphrus with their varying hues of green, and brought life in plenty to the rolling plains, supporting prey, humans, and predators alike.

Haena stood in the early morning, basking with utter relaxation in the bright rays of Syna that shone down on her upturned face. Life wasn't good at the moment, at least not for her and her pavilion. Yet in general, the horseclans seemed at ease, today at least. Her neighbours bustled with activity, and she could hear the faint laughter of children playing somewhere behind her, laughter brittle and vibrant like Morwen's frost. Nearer to home, Epaiza whistled a merry tune, and a cooking pot bubbled gently. Julai and Tomas were undoubtedly playing somewhere, leaving the two woman at peace.

It was a day for doing things, she decided. Too long had she been in mourning. She couldn't stop mourning of course, and it wasn't wise to stop her emotions, even if they were sad. But she needed to do something different today. Something other than feeling the lancing pain of loss. She was about to call to Epaiza, when the very same poked her head around the door of the tent, a cheery smile on her face. "Hey, Haena! I've got some tea on brew. You want some? It's nettle."

The woman smiled at her sister-in-law, and shook her head. "You need more herbs though? Alta' needs a ride, and I need to do something. I'm going foraging, so, you want me to find anything specific?" If Epaiza seemed disappointed that her sister-in-law didn't want to spend time with her, she hid it well. She thought for a moment, and then proclaimed, "Yes, please! Some mint, if you can find some. And of course, anything else that might be nice. Tonight we've got stew, if you can find something spicy to go with that."

The woman nodded, and flipped open her logbook. It was a new book, her old one having been completely filled with scribbles and illegible notes. So much so that she had given it away to someone who had wanted it. The new book was one of her most treasured belongings, and it's fresh, clean pages still smelt deliciously of new book. She gently bent the cover page open, and gazed at the page. There were only the words, 'Logbook', written in a more practised hand at the top. She rummaged in her bag until she found her quill and ink, and sank to the ground to write down Ep's requests, as well as her own.
