Flashback Good Fortunes

[Arisia]

Arisia walked around the streets, in her human form at the time. It had been a long season for her, she had only been alive for two, and she was alone, and surviving off of scraps.

She had recently been taken in by a kindly old woman, a human, she was old, and Arisia supposed that she was nearing the end of her life.

The woman was a fortune teller, clever and friendly, and she was good at what she did. She used tarot cards and rune stones, people came to her often for readings.

Some were serious, believing every word, coming back often, desperate to see a glimpse of the future. Some were just here for a laugh, not taking it seriously at all. Arisia wasn't sure whether she believed the fortunes were true or not.

Her current job was to be a smiling face that greeted people, she had learnt to smile easily, no matter what she actually felt inside. It wasn't that hard really, the woman had told her "Pretend you're on a stage! In front of a loving audience and your job is to entertain them. Make them believe that you are happy.", so she did, and surprisingly it came easy to her.

She was content for a while, but eventually became curious.

"Miss? Can you teach me how to read fortunes."

She smiled happily and complied, getting out her cards and beginning to explain.

" Okay listen carefully, dear."

Arisia smiled and nodded, paying full attention to her speech.

"A Tarot reading is a narrative, a story that you tell. The future you speak of will not be a fixed or definitive outcome; it's important to remember that there are no conclusive endings or absolutes.

A Tarot spread is a configuration or pattern of cards. That pattern provides the framework for a tarot reading. Further, each position of the tarot cards in a spread has a specific meaning. Your reading will use the placement or position of the cards within an identified theme. For example, many spreads include positions for the past, present and future.

Start with a three card spread, dear. A three-card spread is great for divining answers to uncomplicated questions, for refocusing on simplicity. I know you are excitable however, you cannot dive straight in. "

She then smiled patiently after her lengthy explanation, and got out some cards. "" Okay, dear, you try now."

Arisia tried a few times, eventually getting it right. It would be a long way, but it seemed as if she had started on her path to becoming a great fortune teller.
