2th winter 510AV

Roman had a smile on his face as he entered the silver sliver tavern, having to duck a bit to make sure he didn't hit his head on the upper side of the door, and looked for an empty table in the busy tavern. Finding one in one of the quieter corners of the taverns, as he was sitting down he waved at one of the barmaids signaling that he wanted to order.
He leaned a bit back in the the chair and took a good look around the tavern while he waited for the barmaid to come and take his order, the tavern was filled with people just like him sitting on their own. Though most of them where sitting together in small groups and where talking loudly already good on the way to becoming drunk.
"This is the life," Roman muttered to himself a satisfied smile on his face. "Your work for the day is done and good food is on the way how can this go bad?"

OOCAs you can see in the title of the tread, this tread will eventually end in a mayor bar brawl. But don't be to hasty! I want my dinner before the fight breaks out ;)

Aello was rather tired. It had been a long day, and all she wanted to do was sit down in a remotely comfortable chair, preferably, somewhere warm, and grab a bite to eat and maybe something to drink. She had some things in her bag which she could snack on, but she wondered if there was something, perhaps more substantial, that she could get in the nearby tavern. So when she pushed through the doors of the silver silver tavern, her father's wooden bow clearly displayed in her hands, she wasn't surprised to see a few nervous glances, and to hear a few whistles as she silently made her way through, grateful to have finally found a place to rest.

Aello looked around the tavern, trying to find a place to sit. Most of the seats were taken, and the only table that seemed to be free was one smack dab in the center of the tavern. Glancing around nervously, Aello cautiously made her way over to the table and took a seat. The table was covered in a thin layer of crumbs, which Aello soon brushed away with her hand, before wiping it clean on the wooden seat next to her. When that was done, Aello took a seat, and a maid came over to take her order. Aello waved her away, she wasn't sure she wanted anything just yet.

Aello set her bag on the table, her bow rested in her lap. She absentmindedly ran her hand through her brown hair. It felt soft. It was going to be a long night, she thought, taking a look around at all the drunks. There were very few women in the tavern, which made Aello feel like the only one. Trying to distract herself, she opened her bag and pulled out a shiny red apple. She shined it on her shirt before taking a bite. The apple made a crunching sound as she bit into it. The meat was a deep white with yellow tints, and it was sweet, and rather juicy. Some of the juice dripped onto her chin, and Aello wiped it away with the back of her hand before taking another bite, and looking around the tavern for any sign of trouble.

The wooden door to the Silver Sliver was pushed open with a squeaking noise and Dervish stepped into the room with a look around. His dark hair around his head shrouded his edged features, and he wore a dormant anger around him. He didn't really know anyone here, even though he frequented the place often enough. He kept looking up as he moved quickly enough between the tables, spying for a place he could sit at an unoccupied table - it quickly proved to be impossible. Annoying as it was, he'd have to sit with some stranger.
He let his eyes scan the bar, an extraordinarly tall man sat by himself and a young pretty woman right in the middle of the bar, eating and apple and, just as the tall man, drawing attention to herself because of her looks. Dervish approached her table, he felt cheerful and confident today. Nothing could go wrong, and he walked over to the table, pulling out a chair and giving her a polite smile as he sat down;"Is this seat taken?" He asked, but sat down as she answered, whether it was a no or a yes.
Dervish looked around with a faint smile, getting a few vicious glances from nearby more or less drunken men. This was great, both for attention and for amusement, he pondered to himself, and looked back at the woman in front of him with a curious polite look, and waved at a waitress to get a drink.

"Excuse me sir? But would you like to order?" Roman blinked quickly and looked away from the people in the tavern and looked at the waitress.
"Ah yes, I'll just take whatever you guy's offer as a meal today and a mug of ale please." He gave the waitress a pleasant smile as he ordered his meal.
The waitress nodded and walked back to the bar, skillfully maneuvering through the crowd without bumping into anything or anybody.

Roman just leaned forward and continued to look around, trying to find something interesting to keep himself from becoming bored while he waited on his meal, during busy times like this he could easily wait for half a bell before he finally got his food, at least his drinks came fairly quick.
Roman arched his eyebrow when he saw a rather unwashed man enter the tavern.
"I can bet a golden coin on it that he is going to cause trouble around here."
"your drink sir?" Roman looked away from the man and accepted his drink fishing 4 coppers out of his purse and pushed it in her hand as payment for the drink.

A man walked up to the table Aello was sitting at. He didn't appear to be much older than she, although he was far taller. He was of an average weight, and reasonably muscular build. He had dark brown eyes, and his hair was long for a man's, as well as rather unkempt. Aello wondered if he so much as bothered to brush it.

The man pulled out an empty chair from Aello's table as she took another bite from her apple, "is this seat taken?" he asked. "Does it look like it's taken?" Aello replied just as she finished chewing on her apple, but the man didn't seem to listen, he simply sat as she gave her answer, as though he didn't care one way or the other. Well, he's rather... bold... Aello thought as she took another bite of her apple, before inching her bag a little closer to her with her free hand. She eyed the man warily. She wasn't sure she trusted him.

Figuring that it couldn't hurt, Aello took a few deep breaths in through the nose, and then out through the mouth, before delving into the man's aura. As soon as Aello looked, a dark grey mist started to surround her. It looked like a thick smoke, as if from a fire. Aello coughed a moment, pretending that she had choked on her apple, as she waved her free hand in front of her, as if startled, trying to hide the fact that she was using magic, and with her hand, she was waving the aura away. "Sorry," Aello coughed one last time, before eyeing the man who sat across from her warily, grey suggested dark thoughts, unclear intentions, this man could not be trusted.

Postby Cassandra Coven on January 9th, 2011, 6:22 am

"...and a dollop of gravy on each," Cassandra said as she scooped up a generous amount of the viscous liquid from a small pot and poured on three very hot iron plates. The gravy bubbled and sizzled as it made contact with the plates, and minuscule droplets of the superheated liquid sprayed all around them. She was showing another barmaid how to prepare meals for the patrons and had so arranged the plates so that most of the gravy would spray on the other girl once she's poured it. But the girl was quick and had backed off just as Cassandra upended the gravy-filled ladle.

Cassandra sighed inwardly. The resulting burn on the other barmaid would have been enough to satisfy the need of her cursed mark, one that necessitated her inflicting harm on others. Now she had to find some other way to do it, or she would feel the mark's detrimental effects within the next twenty four hours. But the day was still young, and the tavern would be open until past midnight anyway. She had plenty of time to find some innocuous way to hurt someone - an accidental nick of a knife, perhaps, or stepping on a patron's toes. It should be easy enough.

Hopefully. She sighed once more.

Cassandra wasn't a creature of violence and she loathed to harm another person. But not doing so would leave her in such terrible pain that it sometimes felt her debilitated and unable to move or function at all. And not doing anything about it at that point made it far, far worse. She had only let it go so far that she suffered something akin to heartburn, and she did not want to discover what kind of new torturous sensation she would have to go through on the next stage. Perhaps she might even die from the pain, who knew? She didn't want to find out.

Image"Well, you can do the next batch, I'll serve these up right quick," she told the other barmaid as she moved the hot iron plates - each set above a small wooden board so that they could be moved around without burning one's fingers - on a serving tray. On each plate were two small slabs of lamb chops, a lump of mashed potatoes and several fresh greens, all covered with, of course, the gravy she had just poured over them. Each meal was served with a loaf of bread, though she'd only get those right before she exited the kitchen as the bread basket was set on a counter near the door.

Though this wasn't the most expensive meal in the establishment's menu - that one was more elaborate and could feed two people, in Cassandra's opinion - the dark-haired barmaid was rightly proud of making each and every meal such as this for she was the one who had convinced the cook to add it to the menu. She knew a little bit of cooking herself, and had served a similar meal back in the tavern she used to work for in Syliras. That one used pork chops though, and she much preferred the succulent meat of freshly slaughtered lamb - one she helped kill earlier that day before its meat went to the chopping board.

Picking off three of the largest loaves she could find, Cassandra put them on each of the plates, right on top of the lamb chops so that the gravy would not make them soggy. And then with a bump of the freely swinging kitchen door with her buttocks, she was into the main tavern. It was busy as always, despite the night still being early. it wasn't even totally dark outside yet. Moving to one of the tables near the bar, Cassandra served the first two of the plates to an elderly couple who had become regular patrons of the tavern. The girl liked to think it was because of her cooking - for she was the one who prepared the lamb after all - but it was just a little fantasy of hers. Everyone came into the Silver Sliver for the drink of the same name, as no other tavern in Ravok had it.

That done, she scanned the room for the one she was supposed to serve the last plate to. The other barmaid had said it was an extremely tall and lanky man... and there he was at the corner! Weaving her way through the maze of people, Cassandra moved to his table and dropped of the still-warm meal.

"That'd be five silvers, sir," she said. Noting the man's ale-filled mug, she added, "Inclusive of a free refill of ale. The other girl said you'd already paid for that glass. Just wave me or any of the barmaids over to get one."

Cassandra held her hand out, waiting for the man's coin.

OOCThe meal is for Roman.

So many eyes. Even that tall fellow over in the corner had stared at him as he sat down, how ridiculous. Staring at him, like a sheep at a wolf? Not like he had done anything. Even the woman in front of him pulled back her bag, as if he'd snitch it and make a run for it out of the tavern. She acted strangely, seeming to focus on something intently. Dervish looked at her curiously. She was pretty, light-brown hair and a slender and delicate build. She suddenly started coughing, murmuring a sorry; and then staring at him. What was that stare; fear? Caution? Dervish returned it, a self-confident smile around his lips as he asked in a seemingly polite tone;"Are you allright? Get coughs like that often?".
He looked up again, and spotted a servant who had finished serving the tall man, and smiled politely at her waving a hand in his direction for her to approach. He felt slightly hungry, somewhat thirsty, and very alive today.

Roman just waited for his food taking a few sips of the ale while he did so.
He was pleasantly surprised when a young barmaid came back fairly quick and set down a plate before him, the smell of freshly cooked meat letting his mouth water.
"That'd be five silvers, sir," The barmaid said as she held out her hand.Inclusive of a free refill of ale. The other girl said you'd already paid for that glass. Just wave me or any of the barmaids over to get one."
Roman nodded and reached into his purse to fish out the appropriate amount of money, including a 6 Cm tip, and pressed it in her outstretched hand.
"Here you go,I am sorry about the small tip though, I am a bit low on cash at the moment." He took a bite of the lamb and smile.
"Give the cook my compliments though, it is quite good." After that he focussed on eating his meal.

"Are you all right? Get coughs like that often?" the man sitting across the table from Aello asked, sounding polite enough. Aello continued coughing into her hand for a few moments, nodding furiously with each cough. It took a bit for the cough to die down. "No, not usually," Aello replied simply.

The man looked up again, and waved over a bar maid. He must be hungry or something Aello thought. Just as long as he doesn't try to get her something, or do something stupid, say, hit on her, everything would be ok, Aello thought, as she took another bite of her apple.

Aello looked around the tavern, never letting her eyes rest on a single subject for more than a few seconds. There was no real reason to, just about everyone in the bar other than she, the maids, the man across from her, and perhaps the overly tall man in the corner were drunk. Aello looked over at the man who was sitting by himself, all alone in the corner, as she took another bite of her apple. He was a rather long, lanky man, and other than his height, everything about him was rather plain.

Aello wished she had more energy to delve into him, but a wave of exhaustion had just hit her like a brick wall. Had she worked herself too hard when she was looking into the other man's aura? Aello wondered, as she clutched her forehead in her right hand, her eyes rapidly growing heavier and heavier. She was surprised, she hadn't looked into the aura for too long, and it wasn't as though she had picked up anything particularly dark or heavy about it. Aello shut her eyes for a moment, before forcing them back open, this was so not what she needed right now.

As the man pressed the coins on her hand, Cassandra instinctively extended a finger so that her long fingernail would scratch the man's wrist as he retrcted his hand. Or she would have scratched it - and that would have been enough to satisfy her mark's need to harm another, or at least she thought so - but the leather gloves she wore impeded the action and negated the intended result.

Muttering her thanks for the tip, Cassandra turned away, cursing herself for forgetting that she always wore gloves. They have become such a constant part of her that she sometimes forget to take them off when she's stripped off everything to take a bath. Of course, the alternative, forgetting to wear them, might prove dire for her. Someone might recognize the red veins on the back of her hands and accuse her of being a cultist of the Goddess of Murder. Such a scenario would not end well for her.

The night is still young, she told herself. Relax.

And yet despite her own advise, the dark-haired barmaid was already thinking up of other ways to inflict harm - no, to delay the mark's effects, she reminded herself - to those around her. She scanned the room for potential candidates of her intentions, and immediately spotted a man waving for her to take his order.

Possible victim? she thought, grimacing as soon as she heard the words in her head. Gods, how I hate that expression! It's like I'm some sort of...murderer...

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, Cassandra waded through the mass of tables and people to arrive at the man's side. By that time she had an accommodating smile lighting up her face.

"What can I get you, sir? And are you also ordering for the lady?" She included the woman sitting in the same table, thinking the pair were together. "We have juicy lamb chops for the common meal, for only five silvers. That comes with ale and bread. The full meal is some sort of steak...I have to check with the cook if it's done though. But that one comes with mug of our special, the Silver Sliver."
