Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

When the Veronica came into port, she was a sight to behold. A schooner, her sails and masts immediately brought a twinge of home to Pulren's chest. She had come early, the Zeltivan watching her slow approach from his balcony at the Kuahala Estates. She had come from Syka, the supposed tropical paradise rife with archaeological possibilities, as he had been informed of by the brothers at the Antiquities Society. Today, he would board and join the crew for a four to five day sail to this place, to discover and explore it. It was a rejuvenation, of sorts, to have the possibility of true adventure on the horizon.

While he craved such excitement and longed to expand his knowledge, Pulren also hoped that he would be able to find a place among these Sykans in which to prosper. As he had heard it, they were a small settlement, in the very beginning stages of development and expansion. While this in itself was very exciting, he also knew that there was probably little need for a mercenary. Perhaps his skills would be suited as a guardian of some type, though his real desire was to become an explorer and archaeologist.

As moor lines were being thrown and orders being called from the deck far below, Pulren walked into the apartment to organize what he was taking with him to the settlement. He decided he would take all of his equipment and clothing, assuming that there was some kind of temporary housing for new arrivals. Of course, knowing that he would need a chest to carry all of his items, he had taken care to order the delivery of one, along with lock and key, to his abode at sunrise. Everything he owned, save for his fine furniture, was spread out over the bed and table. He hadn't slept a great deal in anticipation and had taken care to organize his belongings and prepare them for packing.

A knock at his door grabbed Pulren's attention. Once he opened it, he found himself looking eye to eye with what passed for teenagers among the Akalak. They no doubt were older than the human, but their maturity was still ongoing. Really, though, who's wasn't? Pulren greeted the pair, one a deeper purple than the other who was a more magenta in hue. They brought the chest inside and Pulren welcomed them in and asked them to take a seat at the table. They seemed surprised, seemingly expecting to wait out on the patio, but Zeltivan hospitality didn't stop in the port city.

As Pulren set about packing, he noticed their eyes finding interest in his weaponry and armor. Boys always were, of course. Some small talk and pleasantries were exchanged, but Pulren's attention was on making sure that the chest was properly packed. The pair had also brought the cotton clothes and simple shoes that he had purchased and had measured the day before, so he opted to put his armor and leathers in the chest. They were easily accessible enough in the case of danger. The only thing that would not fit in the well sized chest was his tridents, but Pulren simply took care to tie them thrice with twine together and wrap them in his bedsheets, tying them again inside the sheets with the tines exposed for safe handling. Corks were attached to each tine to make sure there was no damage done in transit.

Once everything was gathered and packed, Pulren had the boys take the chest outside, choosing to carry his tridents himself. Outside, mizas were exchanged for the goods in question, as well as a tip to the boys for safe handling. Their eyes lit up at the unexpected gratuity, but Pulren knew all too well that tipping porters was the best way to make sure that your stuff went where it was supposed to and arrived undamaged. The chest was secured and locked, the mercenary carrying the key in the pocket of his cotton trousers.
