The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

The Swing

The swing is a simple piece of equipment; two pieces of sturdy rope support a wide plank of wood to form a seat, all tied to the thick bough of an old, leaning oak tree. What's special about this swing is that this its flight path takes it out over a dizzyingly steep drop, causing anyone who rides it to get a rush of adrenaline. The views are stunning, but potentially deadly.

The swing is located on the slopes of Sharai Peak, about a mile out from the last house of the Okomo Estates. From the swings, one can see the rest of Lhavit sprawled out, like a glimmering sculpture. Beneath lies a steep, almost vertical scree cliff, dotted with the occasional brave shrub, and beyond is more of Kalea's beautiful scenery.

The swing is popular with the children on the Sharai Peak in particular, despite their parents' warning to stay away. The thrill and excitement of swinging into the unknown has been enough to send one too many foolhardy child to their untimely deaths, but that doesn't stop the children of Lhavit from braving the hike to the fabled tree, and peering over the edge to see if they're brave enough to maybe have a go at the swing itself.

One would think such a danger to Lhavit's children would have been taken down long ago by the Shinya, but the swing is strangely peculiar; while children are attracted to it and speak of it plenty, adults seem to forget about it unless spoken to directly about it, or unless they stumble upon it by chance. If a child mentions the Swing, their parent will warn them to stay away...and forget the conversation as soon as they walk away. The same goes for if an adult finds the Swing; once they walk away, they forget they were ever there.

Julian is a little black-haired boy with sparkling black eyes, dressed in a scruffy top and trousers. Though ghostly, Julian is mainly sad rather than angry, and would prefer that people leave him and the swing alone.

Julian will always regret the dare his sister taunted him with. He had never been very brave, finding pleasure in singing rather than in fighting like all the other boys. His spiteful sister Alison knew it. For years she had bullied him, and on more than one occasion she had her friends beat little Julian up. He wished he could prove himself to his sister, and to the friends he once enjoyed being with, but everything he did seemed to enrage Alison further and sunk him deeper into misery.

One fateful day, when Lhavit was encased in snow, Alison goaded her brother into a visit to the swing. He thought he could finally prove himself; yet unknown to him, he would never go home again. He plummeted to his death after slipping on ice, and now haunts the swing in the hopes of warning other children such as himself that it isn't worth it.

When he is not trying to convince children from their fate, he sings whilst sitting in the boughs of the tree that is now his home.
