What's happening in Lhavit this summer!

(This is a thread from Mizahar's fantasy role play forums. Why don't you register today? This message is not shown when you are logged in. Come roleplay with us, it's fun!)

The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

The rain from last season has subsided somewhat; while still plentiful, it is not as frequent as it was in the spring, and consists mostly of sun showers that result in beautiful rainbows rather than thunderstorms. Beneath the bright and colourful sky, however, things are tense within Lhavit. The tensions between the Towers and civilian mages seems to be at its highest, but arguments are largely placed on hold when Elena, a mage, is discovered murdered. Anxieties rise but lingering tensions make it difficult to form alliances, and when the killer strikes again, it seems that nobody is safe.

Overview of Season Events

☼ Daytime Event - ☾ Nighttime Event
☆ Moderated/Prompted Event

1st: The Watchtowers flare yellow, signalling the end of spring and the arrival of summer.

☾ 1st: Elena's body is discovered; the Shinya are quickly called to the scene. Despite an attempt to keep it quiet, word spreads like wildfire, and the majority of the city is aware of her death before the sun rises.

3rd: A letter appears posted to all of the Gazette's boards discussing Elena's murder, filled with wild conjecture and accusations. By the end of the day, another letter has been posted as well, this one bearing the mage-identifying mark from the previous season as a signature.

☾ 4th: Ponrose is finally deemed well-enough to leave the Catholicon; she is escorted out by two Shinya under the cover of the midnight rest, but even so, a small crowd gathers to watch and whisper as she is lead away.

☼ 5th: People from all over the city gather on the Sharai Peak throughout the day to honour Lhavit's revered beasts; it's Okomo Day! Drinks flow freely as people paint Okomo horns and feed the creatures all sorts of tasty treats.

☾ 10th: Starting with sunset and lasting into dawn of the next day, the Shooting Star Inn has its annual summer banquet. All are invited, and entertainment, drinks, and food are free for the evening.

16th: Elena's murder has sent a deep sense of unease and nervousness through any and all mages within the city; the Twilight Tower makes an announcement rescinding their condemnation of civilian mages. The other two Towers stand firmly in their positions, causing tensions to rise. Twilight Tower students are once again welcomed by magic-based businesses.

39th: Another letter appears in the Gazette, penned by the same person as the last, claiming that all magic users are in danger; most people laugh it off, but there is unease spreading through the city, particularly among mages. The Shinya and Constellations do their best to reassure people, and quietly remove the posted letters by the midnight rest.

45th: The Midsummer Festival is held to honour Syna and the arrival of summer. The Taiyang spend the day performing various acrobatic and fire-filled feats at the Surya Plaza; traditional painted pendants and conversation starters written on red slips of paper are handed out to familiar faces and strangers alike.

☾ 65th: Hitori Dawn is found dead in a classroom in the Dawn Tower by her sister, Sousa Dawn, when she does not turn up to teach her evening lesson. The news spreads slightly slower due to the Dawn family's attempts to keep things quiet, but word gets out by the following morning.

72nd: The Dawn family quietly announces their withdrawal from actively opposing civilian mages, leaving the Dusk Tower as the remaining opposing force.

☼ 84th: Overnight, the mage-identifying mark has appeared on the doors of government facilities such as the Twuele and Shinyama Pavilion, which were previously left untouched.

89th: The Shinya and Constellations publicly announce the search for the person behind the mage-identifying marks, who is also the main suspect in the murders of Elena and Hitori.

Murder Afoot

Tensions between magic users seems to be coming to a climax with the murder of two prominent mages within the city; Elena Lariet, a civilian mage, and Hitori Dawn, a Tower mage. The Twilight and Dawn Towers, understandably wary and recognizing a common enemy, step down from their positions against civilian mages, at least for the time being. The Dusk Tower remains stubborn, and the mystery person who has been marking the doors of mages with a strange symbol continues their work. Whoever they are, they're the number one suspect in the murders.

Mages of all kinds from all backgrounds are noticeably tense throughout the season, with the anxiety only rising after Hitori's death. Anyone who uses magic seems to be a viable target, and with the killer still on the loose, it seems anybody could be next...

OOC Info

This season has no modded event or quest threads as it is largely setting up for the events of next season; I will be working on trying to wrap up as many current one-on-one modded threads as possible this season. As always, if you wish to request a one-on-one moderated thread from me, please either PM me or post in my office with the relevant information. :)

Weather Throughout the Season

With less rain than last season but still a significant amount, the summer is hot and humid. Rather than thunderstorms, there are warm sun showers throughout the season, resulting in plenty of rainbows. Boots remain in fashion, and light fabrics come into style, as do large hats to combat the combination of sun and rain.

Complete 6 of these challenges to earn Lhavit's Seasonal Medal. A maximum of 3 challenges can be completed in a single thread, and if doing multiple challenges in a thread each one should consist of at least 800 words; that is, threads containing 2 challenges should be a minimum of 1,600 words, and threads containing 3 challenges should be a minimum of 2,400 words. Single challenge threads should be a minimum of 1,000 words. If you have completed the challenges, then post them to my office with links to the threads.
