The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

The season starts out uneventful, warm and rather humid; as far as spring goes, it's one of the more damp ones in recent years, with plentiful rain and thunderstorms. However, uneasiness spreads through the city when hunters begin reporting unusual behaviour from wild animals in the Unforgiving. Not long after the wild animals within Alheas Park and the vicinity of the city also begin acting strangely and aggressively, and even pets and livestock begin exhibiting strange behaviour. All of the animals seem to be in good health; regardless, people are cautioned away from the Unforgiving unless necessary, and told to keep their pets under close watch and inside.

Overview of Season Events

☼ Daytime Event - ☾ Nighttime Event
☆ Moderated/Prompted Event

1st: The Watchtowers flare green, announcing the coming of spring and a new year.

12th: Hunters begin reporting animals acting unusually and aggressively in the Unforgiving.

20th: A hunting party returns with a member severely wounded by an extremely aggressive mountain lion that attacked unprovoked. People are cautioned against entering the Unforgiving without good reason.

☼ 22nd: The Heart's Festival goes on as normal, a needed distraction from the slightly unusual happenings. There is somewhat heavy rain the day of the festival, but that doesn't stop Lhavitians from enjoying it all the same.

25th: The wild animals around and within the city begin acting strange and aggressive; they will growl and snap at people unprovoked, generally cause inconveniences, and potentially even attack. It is not unusual to see Shinya intervening to scare off wild animals or to put them down in extreme circumstances.

30th: The supply of fresh meat available for sale begins to decline rapidly as even hunters are too nervous to enter the Unforgiving more than absolutely necessary.

32nd: Pets, livestock, and domestic animals within the city begin acting similarly and ignoring commands or orders, though their unusual behaviour is less intense. This includes okomo. People are told to keep all domestic animals inside or safely stabled.

45th: Most hunters take to fishing instead for the time being since it's much less dangerous than hunting other animals, and while other fresh meat is still in short supply, fish becomes plentiful.

50th: A group of hunters ventures into the Unforgiving to attempt and figure out what's causing the strange animal behaviour.

58th: There has been no sign of the group of hunters that went into the Unforgiving, and they are presumed missing. The Shinya warn against anyone trying to go find them, organizing search parties of their most competent members.

62nd: The Dusk Tower does something rather unusual for any of the towers and opens it doors to any and all Lhavitians for the day; for a price, of course. For one day only the Dusk Tower is offering a single class each on Arcanology, Auristics, and Spiritism.

This event may be self-moderated using Dusk Tower NPCs for the sole purpose of teaching a basic class. Admission price is 5 kina per class. These classes will address the basics and be enough for one who is unfamiliar with these magics to begin learning them, or for a novice to gain a few XP; they are not extremely detailed or in-depth. Competent or higher levels won't benefit from these classes. It is possible to take all three classes in the one day if desired.

65th: The hunters that went missing still haven't been found and are presumed dead, and search parties stop.

70th: The Star Festival is held, and Lhavitians flood the streets in their finest attire, sparkling in shades of white, silver, and gold. Zintila, as she often is during this festival, is seen wandering the crowds and mingling with Lhavitians. She does her best to comfort and reassure people about the recent unusual animal behaviour.

85th: The Mhakula Tea House sets up in the Surya Plaza and offers free samples of a new tea blend, a creamy matcha infused with a delicate rose flavour.

91st: The season draws to a close, with the behaviour of the city's animals still up in the air.

Mountain Lions and Steiggerhorns and Bears, Oh My!

Starting early in the season, the wild animals in the Unforgiving begin acting unusual as well as increasingly aggressive. Throughout the season, this behaviour worsens, and seems to spread to wild animals within the city limits as well as domestic animals, though not quite as severely. Anywhere within the city with lots of open, natural land, such as Alheas Park, quickly becomes deserted, and most people stop venturing out of the city limits due to fear.

What might be causing this strange behaviour? Nobody is certain, and while the Shinya and Constellations search for an answer, Lhavitians become more and more anxious.

Weather Throughout the Season

This spring season is particularly warm and humid, with fairly frequent and relatively heavy rain. Thunderstorms are common, however the rain avoids being too much and the Amaranthine remains unflooded.
