Discovered by the Sykan Rangers in the early Spring of 522 A.V., The Nullity Cenote is a massive deep cavern Cenote whose ceiling hasn't completely collapsed inward leaving more than a three-quarter's dome over it. Hard to access, the local geomancer and water mage, Ducan Maelstrom, hand-carved steps using his magic to allow the cenote to be easily accessed from the jungle surrounding it.
The Cenote Is so large, roughly two hundred feet long and two hundred feet wide creating a perfect sphere of fresh blue-green water. The water has living things in it, a well-contained ecosystem uncontaminated by the salt of the nearby Suvan Sea. It is deep as well, without the bottom yet being discovered. Swimmers haven't been able to dive down deep enough to find it yet, so it will most likely take an aquatic or water-breathing individual to make the descent for the community to know how far down it reaches and what lies at its bottom.
In making the cuts in the stone and carving out a staircase, something very unusual was discovered about the Cenote. Its waters, when someone is submerged in them, nullifies magic. This includes all known forms of magic even gnosis and lost disciplines. Items that are magical in their own right will be nullified when submerged in the Nullity Cenote. The effect of the nullification ends when the water touching the item is evaporated. No long-term negative effect has been linked to contact with this cenote. And while a person is still wet from the waters in this cenote, magic of any kind will simply not affect them.
This cenote is incredibly refreshing to swim in. Many of the settlers of Syka who have visited the location have claimed that they felt rejuvenated at this spot rather than more exhausted due to the nulling effects. Founders and the Scion of Syka expect to find a major artifact-level item at the bottom of the cenote.
When this water is removed from the cenote, the nullification effects will last as long as a thirty day period or a third of a season. But once removed, there is a definite time restriction and the countdown clock starts on the water itself.
